June '25 Newsletter

Got a lot of work on the game done this month, and finished up a few personal things as well.

This month's build feels like it took a lot more effort than the previous monthly builds. A lot of creative blocks and conceptual hurdles have been overcome, and a lot of substantial content has been added to the game.

Keep in mind that half of the Sunken Chasm is inaccessible without the Xanadu Ring, which is only available in debug mode. (It'd fuck up progression if it was available in normal gameplay right now.)

Old Game Archive

I had a thought today that I should upload the archive of old games I keep on my PC, since I'm taking game development more seriously and treating it as what I want to be doing with the rest of my life.

Included with this is a text file containing notes about every project bundled into the archive, totaling 28 games I've made since 2013, up until the end of 2016. (Which is when I stopped working on games in order to focus on drawing. I started making games again with Thirstchasm in 2018...

May '25 Newsletter

Hi guys! To replace the monthly devlogs, I've decided to start doing longer-form newsletters. Don't worry, I'll still be talking mostly about development and the game's progress, since I don't really have much else to talk about. These posts will be posted every month on or around the 15th, along with that month's build of the game. Unlike the monthly build though, newsletters will be available to all patrons to read. This month I started some good headway on the next zone, the Sunken Chasm, as well as implemented the first enemy for it, the Sentinel. All changes and additions can be found in the included changelog.

Small Update - Changes and Considerations

The Discord server has been deleted, as I felt that my mental instability only serves to ward off people, and having a direct IRC chat centered around me doesn't benefit anyone involved. (Besides bad actors, trolls, and spies - which I know I sound schizo for saying, but I've been shown proof recently that multiple "factions" have seeded my server in order to keep tabs on me. For some reason.)

Skantish: April Devlog

Welcome to the second monthly devlog for Skantish!

I got a lot done this month, as is seen in the above video development log. The new weapons you guys voted on are now implemented, status ailments are (finally) in the game, and I made some changes that people have been asking for.

Skantish ~ Monthly Build 1

 I've decided to change the "Bi-Monthly" build reward to simply Monthly builds. Here's the first one.

While this build isn't a huge improvement over 0.1.x, it's the first stepping stone in laying the mechanical groundwork for 0.2.x. The new water mechanics may still need some work, however, it'll play a major role in the next area of the game.

Since the last post about the state of the game was made almost a month ago, I thought I'd do another - and maybe turn this into a more regular thing.

TLDR; I'm working on new mechanics and weapons for the next area while trying to work in preproduction storywriting and etc. However, I planned to have the first Bi-Monthly build out on the 15th. Not sure if I should postpone it to next month (as there's not a lot yet), release it as-is, or maybe change the schedule to monthly...
