Day 5 Development Status

Hello to you, my friends!

Well, tomorrow is Monday (for some of you it may already be Monday) which means back to work for a lot of us! I figured this would be a good time to post up the latest on the Day 5 update that is coming up next.

So, I won't say anything about these other than - none of these are actual story-ready renders, but they're close. However, the models will probably appear in the story as you see them here. I'll leave you to debate about them amongst yourselves. :)

Major Update - Version .3 - Days 3 and 4

(EDIT) - Since the update went public before I intended, might as well make the post public. I've come to expect that this sort of thing will happen. It is what it is. Some people just can't wait a few days for the legit release date, sad... but oh well. Not much I can do about it. Apparently this particular person has done this to a few other dev friends. But that's okay... N2 will press on and Day 5 is in the works now (new status update coming soon). So, please enjoy!

So, as everyone knows... I bought all the parts for a new PC. The system I've been using is ancient and was way overdue for replacement. I started having issues, which forced my hand and I had to bite the bullet and order the new PC. So I picked all the parts I wanted. The case came in a few days ago, along with the new 1tb NVMe drive. The rest was in one shipment: motherboard, ram, GPU (GTX 1660), CPU Fan, Windows 10, and a Ryzen 7 CPU. I'll get to the attached images in a moment. First, I wanted to give you guys an update on my situation and let you know that I am still working on Serenity and nothing about that has changed. Except of course my initial release plan.

Working on days 3 and 4 have taught me that from now on, I'll only be doing major updates that include one in-game day instead of two. The reason is because I am determined to have an image per line of script with occasionally...

Quick update

So there has been a new development. I ordered all the parts for a new system and when I clicked submit, I think my old computer didn't like that! It decided to start acting up. As a result, I'll now have to wait until the new one comes in before I can start rendering day 4 again. Good news is, I won't lose anything at all... everything is still there and also on my backup drives. The project folder for Serenity is being backed up live at all times so I never lose progress there.

Next update status

Hello friends from around the world... it looks like I won't finish in time to release the next major update for this weekend as I'd hoped. My full time job has needed my undivided attention for the last few days so I just haven't had enough time to actually accomplish much.

But I'm going to do something I said I wouldn't do to myself... set a release date. And that date will be Wednesday, September 30th (next week) for patrons with public release 2 weeks after that. I don't like mid-we...

Just a couple of screenshots from day 3!

I am nearly complete rendering day 3, with just 30 or so images left. Then time to work on day 4 which is about 250 images.

If I can get them all done in time, I may be able to release in time for the weekend coming up, we'll see though. I do want to spend a bit of time trying my hand with at least one animation. That will take time. I've already managed to make a few crazy animations but to create a serious one I'll need to spend more time...

Just a quick screenshot from Day 3 development I had posted in my Discord patron channel. Then, I remembered that I have 2 patrons who aren't on Discord and wanted to make sure you guys could see it, and also make sure you know what's going on with the next update.

As for the status update: I have the script for days 3 and 4 written and added to the game script, along with image placeholders. I started rendering yesterday (Thursday) morning and managed to get 100 (of 597) completed. Day...

Small change to tiers

I never really went back over the benefits of each tier after I added the 2-dollar tier. And I realized that it isn't as clear on that one what you're getting.

I don't like the idea of someone giving me money and not getting the game at least a bit sooner than 'public'. Therefore, today I'll be editing the 2-dollar tier. Basically, 5-dollar and up tiers already get the game on day of release. I won't change that because I have members in each one already. The 2-dollar tier will now get ...

Hump Day Update!

Good morning, afternoon, evening (wherever you are in the world)!

Time for a quick update on the status of Serenity and its progress. As you all may know by now, there was a bit of drama after my first release. I almost let it get to me. In an effort to keep more fans happy I did make a slight change and reuploaded (version .02b). So if you weren't happy with something before, there is a chance you might be now. Serenity v.02b (Public Update)

This update to the first release should address some concerns that were mentioned and hopefully make at least a few more people happy. There is a choice added after the "shower scene" starts. Rejecting her will not remove her from the game (this choice only affects what happens in the shower). Also dialog has been altered throughout to account for the change in Kat's character.

I suggest playing again from the start so there is no confusion later with Kathryn's character.

Alright... patrons only...

I want some opinions. Now, I've already written Serenity pretty much through to its ending. However, I have to rewrite and adjust things because it wasn't originally meant to be an interactive visual novel.

There has been a huge split between those who love Kat and are waiting to see what happens, and those who think she's a slut and should have been left behind.

Since you guys are actually supporting me with money, Your opinion matters more to me....

Serenity V.02 is Public!

Here it is... The first release of Serenity. I am releasing this one to everyone early. This first part of the game is 2 in-game days and will take between 40 and 50 minutes to complete depending on how fast you play. There is only one sound in the game, the song that plays in the main menu.

Getting close!

Last night I completed the final renders that will cover 2 in-game days worth of content. I have one section near the beginning I want to re-render with better post-processing settings so it matches with the rest of the renders. I had found better settings around half way through and have had to go back and do this. Time consuming but I think worth the time spent.

Once I finish those last re-renders, I am going to play my game from start to finish and see if it feels like enough content...

Serenity: Current state of the game

I'm happy to report that things are progressing very nicely. I am well into rendering and am about 3/4 done with the first 2 in-game days worth of content. Although, when playing through it, I feel like the first release should be longer so I think I may do another day, possibly 2 more before the first release.

Quality-wise, its no secret that I am new at this and consider it to be a learning experience for the next game I do. But I am loving how the renders are coming ...
