Staying in the Family chapter 2

Nate pulled the BMW outside of the terminal gate, slowly putting the car in park before turning to his bride in the passenger seat. Sarah gave him a soft smile before speaking, "I'm gonna miss you guys." She turned a little further, smiling at her two kids in the backseat. They both hated she thought of them as kids but they always would be just that to her. It was hard for her to imagine her youngest was already a junior in college.

"We'll miss you too, baby." Nate kissed Sarah on the ...

Staying in the Family caption

With Press Your Luck having concluded I am able to publish a story I've been working on for awhile now that I'm very excited about because it allows me to once again work with one of my favorite writers, Nicegent42.

He wrote the original caption that Staying in the Family is based on. And if  you haven't been lucky enough to read his works before or find his deviantart I'll post both here.

Staying in the Family 1

Nathan sat his glass down, the ice gently clinking as it slid around the bottom of the glass. He smiled painfully as he swallowed the scotch. Three suits and their secretary sat across from him at his bar in his empty restaurant.  His empty, open, restaurant on a Friday night. Of course that was why they were here. His restaurant had failed and they wanted to buy it so they could tear it all down. “Mr.Stone.” A man with slicked back hair, a thin black mustache, and a solid black suit...

Toby sat outside of the principal’s office once again, holding a blue ice pack against his  sprained wrist. “Worst day of my life.” He sighed quietly as he stared at the borrowed white shoes when suddenly a pair of bare feet stood in front of him.

“What the hell was that?” Gigi growled.

“What?” he stared up at the angry girl.

“I was trying to be your friend and you–you beat up Nico and hurt Leslie? And probably cost me my play?!”

“I didn’t ...

Press Your Luck 50/Epilogue

Lucy sat on the bus, staring out of the window as she was carried away from the city and Daniel. Twisting the now real engagement ring on her finger she couldn’t believe how much her life had changed. If just four months ago someone had told her, had told Harlow, he would not only be engaged to his best friend but also be the bride he would have…he would have bet money against it. ‘Another lost bet.’ he thought with a bitter laugh. If he had made a few smarter plays he wouldn’t be h...

After Danny had been told by the coach to stay in town Danny couldn’t wait to make the phone call to Valerie and Lucy later that night he and the other two hopefuls, Paul and Boyle, decided they had to celebrate their victory. What began as pizza and a couple of six packs to blow off some steam quickly turned mobile when the six packs had been depleted and Paul exclaimed they needed to find some women to liven up their celebration, or rather: “Let’s get some pussy!”

After Beatrice ate her evening meal in silence, she decided to take her evening tea in the parlor where she took a worn brown leather bound book off of the shelf to read. The leatherbound Jane Eyre was a near perfect copy of its first edition counterpart locked away behind a pane of protective glass. The major and most striking difference between the copy and the original was that the first edition was bought three years ago at auction for a lowly six figure sum, whereas the copy she was rere...

Lucy smiled as she hummed a tune to herself and pretended to read the Sallie mae agreement in her hand. The document used a lot of words like party of the first part and parties of the second and third part and other legalese she had never understood. But it never slowed Harlow down before and things had worked out. From what Val told her, signing up for beauty school qualified her for a loan that she could use to pay her bills while she saved her own money. Val was a ditz, but she figured th...

Days later, Toby sat beside Billy in the back of the bus, anxiously clinging his bag to his chest while Billy talked with Quentin across the way sitting in what everyone referred to as the throne. The singular seat in the back left of the bus. Normally Toby would have joined in on the spirited debate on which team during Sunday night’s game should have won if only they had run this play, or played this player, or if the coaches weren’t ignorant bums, but this morning all Toby could think ...

Two hours later, after the mourners had left and Lucy had gone grocery shopping with her aunt Linda yet again, Samantha dragged Danny into the master bedroom. “Danny. I need you to be completely honest with me.” She said as she sat on the bed. Speaking in just the same way now to the large man as she once did to the little boy she knew. “Is Harlow alive or not?” As happy as Samantha was at the prospect that her son might be alive…if she was crazy she at least needed to know just how...

It's 2024

Hey all,

I hope you all had a wonderfully safe and fun New Years celebration. I know I did. My cat got out and I had to spend an hour hunting him in the cold while everyone was shooting fireworks only for him to be waiting for me back at my house when I came back.

That aside I've been working steadily during my break and hopefully you'll enjoy the upcoming chapters of held back theater and heist Honey as well as the final chapters of press your luck.

I know there's a fe...

Quick Update

So obviously and first off my surgery was a success. I apologize for not posting sooner but recovery destroyed my sleep schedule.

Unfortunately I'm still struggling with fixing my sleep schedule so I won't be able to post this month. I regret I didn't come to this conclusion soon enough to pause patreon, so I'll be refunding everyone who's been charged of course.

I am still writing but I apologize for the waiting.
Thank you for your patience with me,
Kara~

Heist Honey 9

While Chloe was being wined and dined by William at Che ‘Enri, Mark had taken Zoe to a crowded baseball park to watch the Seattle Mariners play the Colorado Rockies. With a loud crack of the bat the ball was launched high into the stadium as Montero raced past first base. Mark and thousands of other fans shouted as the ball bounced off of the bottom of the back wall in center field in a high arch. Kelenic chased after the ball, snatching it out of the air with his glove as it fell back to e...

Lucy finished cleaning the mess her mother had made. ‘No.’ She thought bitterly, ‘It’s my mess.’ She corrected herself as she fixed a cup of tea for her mother. ‘If I had followed up with the doctor maybe I could’ve, like, not involved my mom at all.’ She thought bitterly, casting a glance towards the living room where Oscar sat, talking to Sam, ‘But then, like, they would still be suspicious.’ She hated herself for the amount of pain she was causing her mother, her friend...

The morning after the shocking call Valerie and Danny went to the morgue to identify the body, Lucy electing to stay home just in case Jefferson's goons or the cops showed up. Danny still being Harlow's closest emergency contact, the siblings were allowed to be the ones to identify the body. The added bonus of course was sparing Samantha the pain of having to identify her child’s body or worse risk her being able to tell it wasn’t her son. According to Valerie the resemblance of John Doe ...

Nearly a week had passed, with each day between Lucy and Daniel remaining just as awkward as her first day back. Luckily there was only a little adjustment needed to Lucy’s daily routine before she was into the swing of things again. She would normally wake up just before noon, skipping both breakfast and lunch, clean her tiny motel room, before preparing for work. When she returned sometime after midnight she would shower and remove her makeup and do her best to unwind by watching whatever...

Belated Howdies and thank yous!

Hey all! I should've posted this yesterday but I always find it difficult to talk about myself, good or bad.

I suppose this falls under the category of both good and benign but my birthday was yesterday. Woo! lol. To celebrate I spent the day getting owned on Fortnite until my mother took me out to the best restaurant in town and I had the best steak dinner I've ever had. So all in all a good day for me.

The other bit of news that is definitely good; is thanks to my inc...

After her conversation with Valerie and bidding her goodbye for now, Lucy found in her fright that she had hung up on the good doctor. But calling him back would have to wait as she was going to be late for work if she didn’t call her favorite uber driver. The work night passed in fits and stalls and finished before she even realized it had come to an end. The moments between when she had no orders from anyone to focus on her mind couldn’t help but regret her decision to go back to the Sa...

The truth weighed on Harlow for several days after he learned the truth. That first night he wallowed in his abandonment until he had dehydrated himself of tears and finally fallen into a deep sleep. The next day he was angry, he wanted nothing more than to rush out and find his dad and demand satisfaction for the pain he put him and his mother through at the business end of a baseball bat, or very large men wielding blunt and heavy objects. The next day he imagined various scenarios of meeti...

Getting home, Miah took in a long breath as she closed the door, smelling the familiar comforting scent of her home. Closing her eyes Miah, let out the breath in a drawn out contented sigh, happy to be home after having to rush to the office, when she should have been enjoying the day with her family. She was about to pull off her shoes when movement at the top of the stairs caught her attention, she didn’t get a good look, but she was pretty sure she just saw Kennedy running off to his roo...

The next afternoon, Harlow finished another cold shower, the memories of last night’s fun filled activities with Frank providing an unusual warmth against the freezing water as he sang along to the bubbly pop music blasting out of his phone’s speaker. Normally he would be disturbed by the acts he performed with another man but today…it didn’t seem like that big of a deal. Chalking it up to post-orgasmic bliss he decided to enjoy the feeling while it lasted and continued his morning ro...

Hours after Harlow and Rosemarie had finished their mani-pedis Harlow got off of the elevator  on the twelfth floor. Checking his small red purse once again, ensuring that his phone, condoms, emergency cab fare, and mace were all still inside. Rosemarie said the man had passed whatever vetting process she utilized but she still advised caution. “It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.” She had reiterated multiple times on his first date and continued to...

Sitting in the booth Kennedy looked down at his hands in his lap as his legs swung freely as they dangled down. He paid little attention to the animatronic band that played up on the stage, he cared little for the childish entertainment, nor for the fact he was still wearing a dress and even worse now a training bra underneath. ‘Don’t say anything, be small, don’t be noticed.’ He told himself, not wanting to draw even the slightest attention from the blonde man that had joined them at...

The group had moved from the salon in the mall to one of the big department stores and right over to the Little Miss section where Kennedy’s eyes practically glazed over at what he presumed was a sea of lace and cutesy girly things. At his five foot nothing height he had never been able to shop in the men's department, not that he had a lot of experience shopping for clothes at all. Most of the time he had been given hand me downs from another foster kid. The last family he had been with ha...

After Kennedy’s tears had run its course he felt completely drained, the day had felt like it was going on forever. ‘I’m wearing clothes that belong to an eight…’ He mentally stumbled on the number, instantly replacing it with a nine after hearing the energetic brat say she was almost nine so many times. ‘She may be almost nine but everyone thinks I’m a ten year old girl, this day is just so…’ His thought on how terrible the day was paused as he looked at the freckle faced r...

It wasn’t long before Rosemarie came back to the child care area and signed the three out. Abby had wanted a piggy back ride to the parking lot, something she was happy to provide. Her youngest niece's excitement was the other side of the coin to Kennedy’s mood and it made her heart weep to see the young girl so scared and skittish and hoped she could help the girl so that she knew things would be better, or at least kindle the hope inside of her.

“Okay, girls.” Rosemarie said...

I hoped to have a more cheerful update for everyone this month considering thanks to all of you I'm able to afford the first of my upcoming surgeries for my transition. Something for which I will never not be grateful.
