This was in Antwerp a couple of weeks ago with the lovely Alena.
Relevant to this post is this from a previous post:
"It was Alena's idea to put the shoe in her mouth. Relevant to what I'm saying about the model feeling comfy to do weird shit. Alena's not usually the kind of model who’d do this but she obviously felt comfy enough to do it. I just tweaked the pose a bit. Initially she wanted to pose w...

Shooting models doesn't have to mean taking pictures of them in one way only.
I found over the years that I've tended to gravitate toward people who are a bit 'different' 🤪. This happens when you get well established in an area and people want to work with you. On your side, you have to show that you're open to shooting ANYONE, and I mean anyone. When prospective crazy models see that, they'll gravitate toward you and maybe make contact direct...

Here is set 2. Set 1 was here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/walk-in-heath-1-89405484
Gotta say, looking at that last shot, I do really miss that location and that environment where I used to live.
I wonder of you can guess which ones were analog and which were digital?

Finally this set is edited. It took some time because there was a shitload of dust on these scans! Much of it is colour neg film converted to B&W which is something I do when I have a batch of C41 chemicals that need using up. With the exception of the last two, all were shot with the Pentax 67 using Portra or Fuji colour film.
Sylph is primarily an art nude model so she isn't really totally comfortable with my style of work which centres around the face but s...

You know the song right?
This spot was way up in the mountains of Madeira. We drove around the northern coastline from our BNB near Sao Vicente and then uphill for ages into the mountains and the end of the road. Then it's a short hike to this place where we shot some photos, although the trail itself keeps going to an amazing waterfall but we'd started walking too late as usual 🤣
It was magic just to sit here for a while and take in the mossy smells a...

These were shot exactly a year ago in Naxos. It was late afternoon sun streaming directly into the front of our villa, located up in the hills outside Chora. It was also very windy which made getting the hair in the right position, for both girls, pretty tricky. Most of these were shot with a 16-35mm f4 on the Z6.
The following image was shot in some old hotel ruins. That set coming soon.

This fully nude and freeform set was shot in the Netherlands. This is the full set of images - shot on the Z6 with a 50mm f1.8, no filters, not even a lens cap 🤪 (I've never had one for that lens and it's about 5 years old now). Edited in PS using a pre made filter I made for Camera Raw which has a base curve like this:

I wrote the draft to this post some time ago after being asked a number of times to explain various aspects of what I do, and how. I can only state what I do, what you do is really for you to DISCOVER. My process and techniques have evolved through spontaneous and uninhibited experimentation, if you can call it that.
Things for me have also (importantly) evolved though some very good and collaborative connections with various creative people. I've heard people say I'm lucky becaus...

Shot in my fave spot at Cape Banks and all on film with the Pentax 67 and a Nikon F80 (for $80). Fuck expensive cameras. Most of these images haven't been released before.
The 35mm were shot with a 70-200mm f2.8, the rest are the Pentax 67. MF shots scanned with an Epson V800, 35mm with a Nikon ED8000.

These are the digital shots from this shoot. There are some excellent MF film scans coming also. These were rather more processed than I would normally do because the digital images were bound for Lucy's Patreon account. This was common at the time, many Australian models would approach me to shoot for their Patreon, which I'd do on digital, then the film shots were all mine 😉
The shoot was done at an abandoned Tuberculosis hospital near where I lived in the Blue Mou...

A preview of some sets of images shot in Australia with Lucy Art Model.
Lucy came up to the mountains from Sydney one day with a heavy hangover and we shot a bunch of film, digital and a video. All coming soon. THE CREAM will also get bonus detailed technical info, editing workflow, video and the 'extra' images.
Most of the images in this set haven't been released before, including the one above, ...

I took these last week in Antwerp through the glass of our flat. Alena came over one afternoon and I had a nice shoot with her solo, lingerie, on the balcony, standing on the mantlepiece 🥵🤣 and more (those coming soon). Aurora also shot her when she got home. The dinner we had that night was awesome too 😋, with some fellow photographers in a great Antwerp restaurant.
We're totally impressed with Belgium and in particular Antwerp, we always have been ever since we ha...

These were taken during the time when Amy and Nicole (Australian friends/models) stayed with me at Lawson in Australia. It was a fun and also crazy time when the house was full of travelling models and friends.
They had shoots to go to that day and were doing their makeup by the back window in the living room so I shot these from out on the balcony looking back inside. The nudes of Amy were taken at a lo...

You may remember 'The Kitchen Files', a crazy set of images shot with Aurora at my home in Australia some time ago. Well, my fascination with kitchens continues and this one in Madeira had exceptional light through a small frosted glass window high up on camera right.
We started off with the usual portraits and ended with some in your face shots. It's never planned - but when there's none of the usual model levels standing in the way then a certain uninterrupted flow can happen, and Aur...

It's a long story but I have been hosting my own subscription-based service via my own website for some years now but due to issues with the payment provider I'm back here to Patreon for sharing my work. The sub fee for my website was USD$20 and so I've now created a new tier here so that those subs can simply move over here to Patreon for the same cost and same level of content.
The content shared to The Cream (the new tier) is a level above what you currently have in your $10 ti...

These are some analog images I found on one of my Australian hard drives that I luckily had shipped to Europe. They had actually been scanned but just into raw format so they needed conversion from neg to pos and then a bit of editing.
They were shot in December-January 2019 when Eva stayed with me in the mountains for a week. Some were taken in the mountains, the first 3 at the bottom of Bridal Veil Falls at Blackheath. Bridal Veil Falls is an amazing place, it drops through the ...

One of my little portrait clips. The only difference between the way I shoot for video like this and a set of stills is, well, nothing.
It was shot in my fave location in Sydney, near Cape Banks. A wonderful wild environment of wind, salt spray, huge cliffs and wide rock platforms where the waves crash in. My perfect environment, for life, and so for shooting also. I find that automatically these powerful environmental factors are brought in, and imbued in the results. The model needs t...

Cropping and composition
I really like this set and this kind of shooting. No not because it’s explicit or sexy, although of course I do enjoy that aspect (I’m a human and a man), but crops are one of my favourite things to shoot.
I love the process of framing and composition when shooting crops because most of the rules go out the window.
My process is usually to observe the whole structure of the pose in terms of lines and angles main...

So Aurora created this sheer wrap thing which I thought was amazing. I liked the way it revealed various parts so it seemed obvious to shoot it. I chose the trusty Fluro makeup lamp for lighting to give a high-key contemporary look. It worked well even though there was some light fall off at the edges, ideally, a bigger light would be best. I started off using a 50mm but ended up with a 16-35mm zoom as it portrays body parts better at close range.
The angles shown and the positioning of...
