JPL: Project Voyager (1977)

Finally released from copyright jail (with required audio redactions) - This rare 16mm reel from my collection comes from the Jet Propulsion  Laboratory and contains some of the very first computer animations that  were made to illustrate the future flight paths of the voyager  spacecraft, which at the time of the film's production had not even  lifted off.  Very interesting to note that at this time the extent of  the missions were unknown and the possibility of...

Wheels! (1966)

This classic 16mm Coronet film takes us into the modern world of go  carts, barrel rides, rotary phones, and hand powered wood drills.  Yes,  without wheels our lives would be just dragging things around.  Some  enhancement was required to maximize your viewing experience.  Enjoy!

Integrated Circuit Manufacturing At Bell Labs (1983)

This classic 16mm Bell Labs film from my archives goes all-in to show  every step of the amazing manufacturing process for integrated circuits  at the height of American microchip manufacturing in the 1980's.  Can  you imagine working every day in a clean room toiling over a vat of  fuming nitric acid and swishing cocktails of extremely toxic solvents,  day in and day out?  So many of these places became Superfund sites.   Well....  Enjoy!

How Did NASA Get Those Shots?

I've been wanting to do this video for a long time....  Just how did  they manage to get those spectacular shots of the stage separations of  Saturn rockets?  Many have asked over the years, so this one is by  special request for all of you who have wondered about just that.  OH -  and hang on till the end to see the jaw-dropping unedited footage.   Enjoy! 0:00 - Intro 1:00 - The U2 Spy Plane 1:42 - Project Corona 3:15 - NASA Electable Camera Pods ...

A game changer or a boondoggle?  We'll find out in time - but if YouTube  pulls off what they are claiming to be doing it will change this  platform forever.

Launch Of Apollo 11 In Real Time (July 16, 1969)

I meticulously synchronized the console audio from the Booster, CAPCOM,  Flight, and RETRO feeds with footage from dozens of sources to come up  with an experience close to what you would have gotten being on the  inside of Mission Control on a headset for the launch of Apollo 11 on  the morning of July 16, 1969.  Enjoy!

Who Used To Be Rich (1990)

Wait - What?  This isn't 1970?  Yea, it looks like an early 70's film  but it was released in 1990.  Canadian?  Maybe...  But it is a parable  about how being loose with your money slowly ruins your life.  You stop  enjoying pilfered candy bars.  Gum becomes meaningless.  You begin to  hate magicians.  You begin to pull out your teeth for religious reasons.    You rent serpents.  You peddle your own flesh for...

William Shatner - Washington (1973)

80% of the audio in this US Government film had to be deleted due to  copyright claims. (USA!! USA!!)) But this interesting 16mm film was made  by the City of Washington, DC to promote itself and stars William  Shatner as our tour guide.  This film was shot before the completion of  the NASM on the Mall, but it includes an interesting visit at 12:15 to  the National Air Museum which used to reside in a Quonset Hut located on  the South Yard which contained t...

Early Kid's TV Show On WCAU Philadelphia (1950)

This 16mm kinescope is an early episode of Junior Hi-Jinx, a children's  television show that aired on WCAU in Philadelphia and starred Willie  The Worm.  Willie was very popular with kids from the start, and soon  the show title would be dropped and it became the Willie The Worm show.   This 16mm Kinescope reel was shot directly off of a synchronized CRT  monitor and stands as a very interesting look into the early days of  live television in Philadelp...

Dumont Test Reel (1956)

An odd 16mm reel from my collection which is a kinescope made by the  Dumont Television Network in September of 1956, which depicts a test for  their innovative video/film camera system, though this particular reel  is not the 35mm reflex sync video that they advertised but the standard  16mm film synchronized with a CRT known as a kinescope.  The video  switching in this reel show that this video feed is from the master  video console, rather than the auton...

Original Camera Reel Of Apollo 12 Aboard The Hornet (1969)

Note: a global copyright trolling agency has laid a slam on this film, claiming copyright.  Besides it being illegal to claim copyright on NASA footage, if anyone COULD claim copyright it would be me.  But despite all that, if the troll doubles down I'll have to delete this video.  Yay!
