The Patreon Sales Tax post

Hey folks,

As you may or may not be aware, Patreon will be adding sales tax to more pledges from July 1st, depending on patreon's location. This doesn't mean that everyone will be paying more than they already are from that date (for example, UK patrons already pay VAT on here as it is! You lucky, lucky people) but by law they're required to do it in more places now such as Australia, Japan, New Zealand and the majority of US states (e.g. sales tax in the US ranges between 4% and 11%, d...

WCW/NJPW Collision in Korea: The Biggest Wrestling Show Ever (REMASTERED)

A remastered edition of the WCW/NJPW Collision in Korea documentary video, originally released in 2017. Unlike all previous versions this has not been messed up for YouTube, and also features the addition of several clips from Eric Bischoff's "88 Weeks" podcast, adding more insight into this quite incredible occurence. In short: Antonio Inoki engineers the biggest wrestling show of all-time in the world's most isolated country, as a way of attempting to save his political career.

Bringing back Street Fighter for Patrons.

Hey folks! Here's another classic from the Kim archives that's not available on YouTube anymore...a big old look at the Street Fighter movie, from the flick itself to the many stories behind its creation. It's a real shame this one isn't fully available anymore -- it's always been one of the videos I was very proud of, one of the best ones I've made. Still, at least here people can see it again.

As a heads up, I'm not sure if there'll be a new vid this Monday -- in all honesty, th...

This month's juicy wrestling content: TWO videos!

Hey folks! Just giving you a heads-up on the wrestling content that's to come at the end of this month. I'm actually working on two things -- one that's going to go fully public, and another one that'll be exclusive here.

The public one, which I'm hoping to get out either this coming Monday on the next, takes us quite far back in time...over 100 years in fact. I'm looking at the story of a wrestler named Yusuf Ismail, who might possibly be the first truly over foreign heel in the ...

The Oddities, Flops and Classics of Sega's Early Arcade Years

I've decided to expand my look at Sega's arcade machines to...well, just about everything I can! In this video I'm looking at Arcades from the late '70s to the mid '80s, although this doesn't include the vector and scaler machines -- I plan to put those in a separate video. There are many very interesting games here, some cameos from very well known companies and titles, and some absolute classics too. Enjoy!

Streets of Rage 4 Review - Learn to Love It

Many have been waiting for it, and here it is! My review of Streets of Rage 4, my 2nd most anticipated game of the year...is it everything I'd hoped for? Well...it was certainly a bit of a journey. Enjoy! For a change, this vid's going to be released on Friday.

Bringing back Heroic Bloodshed + video plans for this week

Aidan Degg mentioned wanting to see this one again, so here it is! A video about "Heroic Bloodshed" (the name used to describe HK action films by the likes of John Woo and so forth) in video games, featuring the Max Payne titles, Stranglehold and Sleeping Dogs. An oldie (2014) but a goodie, as they say. I have most other things I've done that aren't up any more waiting to gradually go up on Vimeo (I have to stagger them a bit, I'm only allowed 5GB per week on the site!)

Next Monday's vi...

The Agony and the Ecstasy: BE HERE NOW available again!

Hey hey! I'm going back through the archives and bringing back some of my vids that sadly aren't available to watch on YouTube anymore so that they can be enjoyed once more here. And this one's probably the one most people want to see again, I guess...that big old feature-length video on Oasis's overblown record, the insane peak of their stardom and the Britpop years and lots of other things. This is the full version, with interview clips and everything (Oh, and me and Sophia too). Enjoy!

Ranking the 40 Sega System 16 Arcades!

Another countdown vid? Why not? The System-16 titles may not be as well known as the scaler machines Sega were lording over everyone else, but there's still classics to be found, alongside gems and...well, not gems.

The Shoot Incidents That Made Shoot-Style | New Wrestling Documentary

A large chunk of the monstrous popularity of MMA in Japan can be put down to a form of pro wrestling called shoot-style, as practiced by companies like UWF, RINGS and UWF-i. These companies, oddly, had their own existence shaped by incidents where wrestlers went into business for themselves, doublecrossed their peers and legit athletes, and just plain got into fights in the ring. This video takes a look at said events and their importance, covering the likes of Akira Maeda, Nobuhiko Takada, K...

"The Shoot Incidents that Made Shoot-Style" - out next Thursday!

Hey! Just coming to you with a quick lil' update this Friday. I've been kinda quiet about this month's wrestling video, but I didn't want you folks to think that there wouldn't be one. Indeed, it's going to be a pretty good 'un.

My original intention for this month's wrestling video was to do something still good, but a little lighter -- sort of like the "Weird Matches" video. I've long had the idea to do a vid about Japanese wrestling matches that went wrong and devolved into sho...

The Weird World of Promotional and Advert Games

New video time! We're taking a deep dive into promotional games and advert games, most of which never even made it to shelves. They deal with a whole range of subjects: Environmental and social issues, fast food, Cigarettes, Sony, Big Pharma and Shakin' Stevens.  If you thought that something like Pepsiman was as strange as an advergame could get, then think again!

10 More Obscure and Bad Computer Arcade and Console Ports

It's that time again! We have 10 more computer arcade ports that...well, they mostly should have probably stayed hidden. Today's selection leans a fair bit towards offerings from the Commodore 64, with picks from both sides of the pond, some game attempts at conversions from the NES, and the most miserable attempt at a racing game I have frankly ever seen. Enjoy!

Keep On Keeping On

Hey everyone!

Well...it's been quite a month. I hope you're all keeping well, and keeping safe during these hard times. They say in memes and so on that being gamers we're certainly prepared for this, but this has clearly touched many of our lives. At present I am well and staying home, my friends and family are also well, and long may that continue.

I thank all of you for continuing to stay here, and hope that whatever I do online helps a little bit in this time when no-one's rea...

Mostly Dreadful Computer Wrestling Games

It's time for another set of wrestling games, and this time we're going to the classic computers! The Spectrum, the C64 and Amiga provide our games today, and....well, they're mostly bloody awful. But we do have a famous cartoon character fighting a xenomorph, so it's not all bad.  Enjoy!

Obscure Ports from the ZX Spectrum/C64 to the NES

Today's vid brings together a quite uncommon port -- you didn't often see games from the more European-friendly Speccy and C64 make their way to the NES that was in charge everywhere else, but they certainly happened, and usually under odd circumstances -- they could be unlicensed, they could have a movie tie-in plonked onto them, they could be one man's crazed passion project...there's all sorts of curios here, even if most of them aren't actually good. Enjoy!

What a month!

Hey hey! Just wanted to put a quick note here thanking everyone for the support this month -- there's so many new people here! It was quite a risk to raise the min pledge up to $2 and start doing the wrestling docs again exclusively on here...but so far it really seems to be paying off. I can't wait to make more of them -- this month's been such a great energiser for the vids in general, and we seem to be doing well across the board!
