The Breaker of the Oceans, Chapter 15

Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen sat by the window of a small room off the Great Tower of the Red Keep, a heavy tome balanced on her lap. The air smelled faintly of parchment dust and candle wax. She ran her fingertips along the leather cover, tracing the gilded letters. A single candle burned on a narrow table beside her, offering just enough light to make out the text. She preferred the quiet of this room when seeking privacy.

A hush surrounded her: thick walls, high ceiling, row upon row ...

A Cold God, Chapter 14

I stood in the gathering hall, unmoving. The torches cast weak light over the woven rugs and wooden beams. The Elder sat across from Captain Benjen Stark, who had removed his armored gloves to better handle the simple clay cup of water she offered him. Outside, I sensed his fellow riders settling by their scaly mounts, watchful yet calm. The People, for their part, kept a polite distance from those newcomers, though the children were eager to touch the scaly mounts and their riders were more ...

The Hammer of War, Chapter 29

I left the warehouse behind. Dawn came gray and cold. The streets lay quiet, the shadows of buildings stretched under the early light. My legs carried me toward the waterfront. Each step felt too loud in the hush of the morning. My jacket clung to my frame, still marked with stains of the night’s work. I thought of the vampire I left tied to that metal pole. His muffled cries had faded behind me. I breathed the city air, tasting dust and faint salt from the sea breeze.

I followed the ...

The Cursed King, Chapter 54

“The trial that you are about to undertake is classified above all authority, even above the authority of your Gene-father. You shall utter not a single word to any soul, be they beloved or otherwise. I will have your oaths, Librarians. Swear upon your own names.”

Lord Malcador’s voice echoed through Shahedra’s mind–a voice beyond voice. Beside him, Captain Ahriman shifted a moment. They did not speak with words or with their minds. They weren’t allowed to. And they co...

Maester Colin was… concerned

An army in the hundreds of thousands now marched upon Neverwinter. Colin did not have an accurate number as the Crannogmen were not exactly able to count every single one, but close to three hundred thousand was likely accurate enough. Such a large host was… ill-advised. It meant they moved slower than small armies, required greater amounts of food and clean water, and required massive baggage trains. The Crannogmen asked to ambush them, ...

The Shattering, Chapter 62

Days away. He was only days away from reaching his destination. By now, Thragg had lost count of how many human planets he had saved. He hovered amid the endless star-strewn void, pausing momentarily to gauge the vast distance he had crossed. Memories of desperate battles fluttered at the edge of his thoughts—each one a world under threat, humans clinging to survival, and him stepping in, crushing the hostile invaders before they could achieve their goals.

He marveled at how far human...

The Honored One, Chapter 66

Three days later, Satoru stood beneath a ragged awning, listening to rumors flow from a nearby kiosk. The hawker sold enchanted bracelets, each pulsing with faint illusions. But the crowd wasn’t there for trinkets. They gathered around a man in simple robes, speaking in hushed tones.

“Dead,” he said, eyes wide. “All three heirs. Shibukawa, Ishimonji, and Yoruzu. Found in some old courtyard, half their limbs missing–bodies twisted and whatnot. Looked like they killed each other...

A Guardsman's Game, Chapter 80

I decided that trying to build a home for my people in such an inhospitable place was just stupid. All around us was sand and more sand, with patches of irradiated wastes nestled between them. Sometimes we found poisoned oases, their waters lethal to anyone without my enhancements. My people only survived because of the technology I gave them through [Fabrication]. Without it, they would’ve starved or collapsed from thirst long ago. I couldn’t allow them to become wholly dependent on me, ...

The Breaker of the Oceans, Chapter 14

Daemon Targaryen stood in a large tent, reading the report by the light of a single candle. The flap of the canvas stirred with the wind, letting in the briny smell of the Stepstones. He held the parchment in one hand. His other hand rested on the pommel of Dark Sister. The blade hung at his hip, gleaming faintly in the candle’s glow. His eyes, sharp and pale, flicked over the written lines.

Fascinating.

He read of the Triarchy’s movements. A battered and broken fl...

A Cold God, Chapter 13

I kept my hands clasped behind my back, watching as three reanimated Greenskins spoke on my behalf. They stood a few steps in front of me, their green skin grayed by death, their eyes lit with faint blue light. Their voices rumbled, forming halting syllables that almost matched human words. Sometimes, they struggled, slurring a vowel or hissing when they tried to form certain sounds. But it worked well enough, especially since I had no interest in reanimating people–not if I can avoid it, a...

The Hammer of War, Chapter 28

I walked. The city slept. Dark roads and alleys lay empty under dim streetlamps. I’d see a passing car sometimes, headlights carving brief tunnels of light. Then nothing again. Every once in a while I’d see familiar faces. They didn’t see me. I didn’t want them to.

For an hour or more, I roamed. The pavement under my boots felt rough, cracked in places. Dad often said that Portland seemed like an entirely different world at night. He must’ve been talking about all of this. Fli...

Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses and Supreme Overlord of Shibuya, studied the man across from him. He lifted his cup of rice wine to his lips and took a measured sip. The wine, brewed to perfection by Devourers Astartes in their scarce free hours, was served upon a lacquered table that gleamed under soft lamplight. The Emperor of Mankind, Master of Man and lord over countless worlds, sat with a bored cast to his features.

Sukuna huffed, setting the cup down. This particular cup, ...

Daemon Blackfyre stood at the edge of the tent flap, staring into the dying light. A chill pressed against his cheeks, colder than the northern winds he recalled from campaigns past. He flicked his gaze across the camp. Fires burned low in pits ringed with hastily gathered stones. Men in mail and leather trudged about, eyes cast at the gloom that hovered over them like a veil. Horses stamped and snorted. The air tasted of smoke and boiled mutton. The damp earth gave off a faint, sour smell un...

The Emperor stood at the tall window, arms crossed behind his back. Warm light filtered through the golden arches of his private sanctum, lending a glow to the ornate marble floor. A hush hung in the air, broken only by the occasional whisper of servo-skulls drifting by. Outside, the spires of the Imperial Palace glinted under a wan sun, and beyond them stretched the endless city that was once Terra.

News had reached him that Angron was gone, lost in some void-forsaken corner of the gal...

Satoru meandered through Shibuya’s streets, hands in his pockets, cloak pulled close. He avoided main roads near the fortress, not wanting to draw attention. Instead, he stuck to mid-level districts where shops clustered in narrow alleys, each storefront draped in vibrant banners. The morning was still fresh, the artificial sky tinged with pale gold.

He walked at a leisurely pace, gazing at the people around him. Sorcerers bustled everywhere—teenagers summoning harmless cursed spiri...

A Guardsman's Game, Chapter 79

I hovered above the battlefield, scanning the remains of the legion of the Golden Bull. Smoke rose in thin trails. Bodies lay scattered across the sand, twisted and charred. My lightning had done its work, shattering their formation. The Kharsons had finished the rest, leaving almost no one standing. It was a scene of blackened sand, broken weapons, and the stink of ozone. The air around me sizzled and hissed from the storm I had unleashed.

The Kharsons stood below, each one calm, sword...

Random Fic Idea

What if we dropped Hashirama Senju into 40k?

As I was packing my stuff earlier, I kind of had a random thought about Hashirama Senju just randomly waking up on Terra during the Siege of Terra--hilarity and chaos ensues as the First Hokage makes an even bigger mess of things. I picked 40k, specifically, because Hashirama's kind of a little too strong for most verses, but also too weak in verses with the reaaally strong characters.

Thoughts?

Announcement

Hey guys, I'll be moving to a new apartment, which means I'll be moving quite a lot of my stuff for several days. And that, subsequently, means I won't be able to spend as much time with writing as I'd like. So, updates might be a little sporadic this week and next week as I get settled in. That said, I've already outlined everything I want to write so everything's just chill.

(Note: Not saying I'm not updating, just that they'll be kind of slow/sporadic, cuz I barely have time to sit ...

The Breaker of the Oceans, Chapter 13

Thelor led Stephan out of the forge at first light. A light drizzle clung to Oldtown’s narrow streets, but the air was warm. The boy limped beside him, one arm still stiff from his bruises. Despite the ache, Stephan kept pace, head high, eyes scanning every corner. Thelor noticed how he paused whenever he saw a child or a lone figure in an alley, as though ready to intervene should trouble spark. The blacksmith couldn’t help rolling his eyes.

They passed rows of shuttered houses, ea...

Sometime in the future.....

Lord Kotharis Mul stepped off the bulk lander, his boots crunching on the frozen gravel of Tholmar’s landing zone. He stood tall in silence, his armor caked with frost and engraved with pale runes. The atmosphere whirled with ash and drifting flakes of half-frozen spores. He tasted bio-taint in the air. He was used to it.

Fifty White Walkers Legionnaires followed him in disciplined ranks. Each wore Power Armor the color of hoarfrost, etched w...

I stood in the quiet street, the moon half-hidden by drifting clouds. The night felt cold on my battered clothes, which still reeked of blood and sweat. A faint breeze carried the smell of damp pavement and distant pines. My hand rested on the [Las Pistol] at my hip, out of habit, though I didn’t expect any immediate threats. My mind, however, was busy with plans.

My War Points hovered at forty-three thousand—a staggering sum that surpassed everything I’d ever earned before....

A new dawn fell upon Nikaea, and with it, a renewed sense of tension. The grand marble courtyards outside the assembly hall were silent, save for the steady rhythm of custodian boots as they patrolled the perimeter. Dawn’s pale light painted the towering pillars in soft hues, throwing long shadows across the polished floors. Across these floors marched the dignitaries, the envoys, the delegates, each heading toward the looming double-doors that led to the Council’s chamber.

Brandon Stark led his retinue out of Winterfell at dawn.

They rode under gray skies, clouds heavy with unshed snow. The wind bit at their cheeks, carrying the distant scent of pine and cold earth. In front, the standard-bearer held aloft the sigil of House Stark—direwolf on a field of gray. Behind him, a second banner fluttered: Lord Jason Lee’s mark, a white skull over crossed swords on a black field. Brandon’s gaze flicked to it now and then, a reminder of how much the North had...

Cryptek Jzahth floated down the corridor, his mechanical legs humming with gentle energy. Pale green lights, cold and stark, lit the route. Metal arches curved overhead, etched with glyphs of the Sulekh Dynasty. The hum of hidden power sources thrummed beneath the floors. Other Necron constructs scurried about. Each one followed a prearranged task. Jzahth, however, had a far more interesting duty. He carried data-slates pinned against his chassis, each containing reams of notes on the subject...

I soared through the desert like a bolt of lightning.

The roar of air whipped past my ears. Mjolnir thrummed in my hand. Its power carried me high above the dunes, faster than any bird or craft. Lightning crackled around me, a static haze that danced along my limbs. Each beat of my heart fed the storm’s fury, and the hammer channeled it into flight. I gritted my teeth, pushing the hammer to its limit, willing myself to move even faster. The settlement was in danger. I had to reach it ...

The fleet arrived at Volantis under a scorching midday sun. High on the Black Walls, Volantene sentries craned their necks, exchanging alarmed murmurs as the Ironborn vessels cut upriver. At the center of it all, like a great sea predator leading its brood, sailed the Stormrider with its glossy iron plating and towering masts. Around it, a dozen lesser ships followed, bearing the banners of House Greyjoy. Yet it was the rearmost vessel that drew the most horror—the Doom, with its obsidian h...

I returned under a sky choked with somber clouds. The snow had thinned to a lazy flurry, drifting in patches across the frozen ground. Where once the valley teemed with the noise of ordinary life, I found silence more profound than I had expected. My frost still lingered, clinging to the walls of the settlement, creeping up the timbers of houses, dusting the walkways where The People went about their daily tasks.

I paused at the edge of the ridge overlooking the settlement. From here, I...
