The Breaker of the Oceans, Chapter 47

Hela stood in the hall of the Drowned God.

There was no ceiling, but there was weight above her all the same. It pressed down like deep water. The light came from nowhere and everywhere at once, a heavy, green‑blue wash that soaked into stone and flesh alike. It was dim without ever growing dark. A strange, unending twilight.

The hall itself stretched farther than any mortal eyes could see. Pillars of black stone rose from a floor of the same, slick and wet and smooth beneath a ...

A Cold God, Chapter 46:

Night did not belong in the Shirak System.

That was the name the cartographers had given it, but the Orks had never cared what humans called their empire. They cared only that it was theirs. Six worlds circled a swollen yellow star. Three were little more than slag balls wrapped in refineries and gun‑platforms. Two had once been habitable and were now scrapyards and muster plains. The last was the capital.

It burned.

From the bridge of his flagship, Corvus Corax watched th...

Raynare’s screaming started about fifteen minutes after Sindaris went downstairs.

It was a raw, ugly noise. Wet in places. Hoarse in others. Sometimes it cut off like someone had hit mute, only to come back lower and rougher, scraping its way up through a throat that was clearly not okay with the abuse.

It echoe...

The Breaker of the Oceans, Chapter 46

Valon smelled the blood before he saw any of it.

The sea wind slipped through the arrow slits high along the wall, bringing with it salt and kelp and the faint stink of tar. Underneath those familiar scents, there was another. Iron. Copper. Old anger wearing a fresh face. It clung to the stones of the hall even though the servants had already scrubbed the floor twice.

They had not scrubbed enough.

He sat at the head of the long table in his great hall, fingers resting on the...

A Cold God, Chapter 45

Snow belonged nowhere on Kallash Prime.

The planet had been hot when the First Legion arrived. The equatorial wastes shimmered with heat haze. The cities squatted in dust bowls and on plateaus, all slab and rust and scavenged ferrocrete. The air tasted of old smoke and the sharp tang of coolant spilled from broken engines. The tribes called the sky god by names that meant furnace and storm. They had never seen ice fall from the clouds.

They saw it now.

The Lion watched from ...

Opinions

It seems like Drums of War and Liberation is getting a ton of traction and I'm wondering if you guys would be interested in getting advanced chapters for it?

Just to be clear, if it does get advanced chapters, it won't be at the same rate as the others I'm working on, probably once every two weeks or so.

I live

My whole jawline feels heavier than my whole head lmao. Six fucking impacted teeth. Anyway, I'm lucid enough to edit and stuff. Some chapters need major revisions so I'm saving those for later.

Update

Hey guys. I've been in and out of the hospital this week and today is the first time in a while that I've been able to touch a computer. The reason is because of extreme pain in my jaws, which has recently been traced to six fucking impacted teeth all deciding to wake up at once. The pain was so bad that I can't even think. I am hopped up on painkillers and doozy as hell. In any case, I'll be undergoing a surgery to have them all removed tomorrow, something I'm NOT excited for, but needs to b...

The Breaker of the Oceans, Chapter 45

The shouting rose and fell on the far side of the yard. Wood met steel. Men cheered. A drum thumped once, twice, and then fell quiet. Hela watched one more exchange—two bodies colliding, a fine throw to the sand, the marshal’s hand cutting the air—and felt her attention go dead in her chest like a coal that would not catch. She stood.

Gasps took the benches in a wave. Heads turned. A few men half rose and then sat again. The sound of it washed outward and the crier’s staff still...

A Cold God, Chapter 44

Three months after the last Rangdan signal went to silence, I stood in my Icewalker body beneath the vault of the primary manufactorum dome and listened to the Machine-God’s choir breathe.

The Mechanicum had turned one of our new orbital transfer halls into a sanctum for this meeting, then flown it down and erected it on the plain outside my city in a span of days. The dome was pure function: ribs of adamantine, plates of matte steel, light running in steady lanes along the seams. Eve...

Hours later, the citadel sat in front of us like a problem that had waited a long time to be solved. Square towers. Low, thick walls. No banners. No decoration. No gates, either. Just a gap that looked torn open with hands and horns. The air coming out of that gap hit the throat like hot iron dust.

We’d bled the plain on the way here. The gro...
