“I want you to go all out. Show me everything you have,” Aaron said, limbering up and eating as he got into position across the arena from her.
Talia nodded. Had anyone else besides Aaron asked her to do that, she’d have probably questioned and checked to confirm they were sure. That said, it was a little hard to take him seriously while he was stuffing his face.
Staring him down as he continued to grow bigger and bigger, she summoned her avatar. Next, she raised a def...

The leviathan energy leeches took a serious beating, even though they couldn’t defend themselves. But beating their oversized bodies was rather cathartic for Aaron, who pummeled into their durably squishy frames until they started to weep blood and die. If only he could harvest the blood, as he could feel that it was extraordinarily rich in energy.
Midway through the beating, he actually got an idea and grabbed some murlock cyst salt out of his scabbard. He had collected it back in th...

A portal twisted around Aaron, transporting him away from the trials and to his new quest. And to some surprise, he appeared beside Benigoreng.
The scenery was very familiar. It appeared that the System hadn’t just taken the ichthyoids' likeness for the trial, but the entire world they lived on. Except this wasn’t the city.
There was the same beautiful coral and sea formations as he had seen prior, but there was no sign of civilization here. Well, not any recent civilization.<...

Blasting into the inner chamber, Aaron wiped his bloodied hands as he finished off the two guards. They had been strong, but the relentless nature of his style had been too much.
Looking down at his hands with the spirit veil over them, he had to admire this new technique. He was practicing it for the sake of finding something to use against Mo’han, but realized it was really quite perfect for his style.
After all, what better technique was there for someone with insane en...

There was no need to piss about, and Aaron had no intention of doing so. Immediately, he swam down into the depths towards the underwater city. Perhaps some would have chosen subterfuge against an entire city, but that wasn’t his way. Besides, he had grown bored enough with trials that barely challenged him.
For how difficult was a trial really if it didn’t end in him dying several times in the pursuit of completing it?
As he delved deeper, he wondered how long he could hold h...

Aaron was a little surprised by what Mo’han had said, but then again, it wasn’t a big deal. After all, he still had level 35 dangling over his head. Duel now would have been nice to test himself, but there was a pretty good chance he wasn’t winning until he got that Skill, anyway.
Gauging the remaining power difference between them would have been nice, but it was far from crucial. Besides, he believed in his own power, and the only way to improve that was to keep getting st...

Eyepatch of the Blind Monk [ Epic — E grade]
The blind monks of the distant Zeppy Sector believe that through hardships, their skills are sharpened. One such example of this is the enchanted eyepatches they wear. Plus, they look pretty badass.
Provides: -25 Perception, +15% Perception, +10 Charisma
Aaron read the description and put on the eyepatch. The eyepatch only gained him 2 points of Perception after the reduction an...

Aaron had put everything into preparation for this and had no intention of failing.
He could feel himself at one with his spirit in a way that he never had before, and limbered up as he stared down his prey.
It might have been the avatar of an extraordinarily powerful god, but that wasn’t about to stop him.
Alright, let’s get this done! It’s gone on long enough!
Activating all of his buffing Skills, he flew into battle, throwing everything he had a...

“Interesting options ye getting, bossman,” Sooty strummed his soot chin. “Getting options this powerful at level 40. Not bad. Not bad at all.”
“Yeah, seems the multiverse is really taking notice of what I’m doing, huh?”
Aaron was nodding as he eyed the options. He knew he had discovered multiple legendary recipes on his approach to level 40, but still, this was more than he expected. Skill merges, upgrades, and so on… it was a lot to take in.
“Aye, that’s...

A vortex of swirling energy slammed into the spirit of Oozagh’s avatar, momentarily appearing to rip tears through the spirit plane itself.
This improved version of the attack was undoubtedly powerful, but Oozagh still stood, and worse, he didn’t look particularly fazed by it.
“Baha, what an attack! Impressive! But can’t you feel it, twig boy? The energy I had at this stage?!”
He could feel it, and Aaron nodded in understanding. Oozagh’s avatar was either peak E ...

The crafting stations were getting busier and busier every time he visited. Unlike other rooms, additional instances were only created if more than one person required the same kind of station. There was no option to turn the entire crafting room private, not that Aaron necessarily wanted to.
It was quite cool seeing others at work. It was also interesting seeing them leave, as the materials provided by the trials disappeared, and then reappeared when they entered again.
There was...

Aaron appeared in a barren and cracked landscape with a tower of spikes before him that climbed up into the sky.
New Quest Objective: Conquer the tower
Yendal’s shadow was standing beside him, and he cracked his knuckles as he prepared for what was ahead. He figured that maybe she would have some tips for him; besides, it was nice to mix things up since he was preparing to fight Oozagh.
At the very top of the spiked tower was a platform suspiciously bathed...

When Elmira got her rune set up, the first thing Aaron tried was an [ Overclocked Haymaker ]. He had seen the rune in action, but wanted to get a feel for it firsthand as well. As expected, the rune completely destroyed the mana component of the attack, but it left the Stamina completely intact. That wasn’t what Aaron wanted with his own attack, but he wasn’t going to copy it perfectly anyway, so it didn’t really matter.
Next, he tried using an ordinary spirit pun...

“Pentival had us do stuff like this a lot back in the Tutorial,” Elmira said as they limbered up in the arena.
“Oh?” asked Aaron.
“Yeah, though usually we had more. We’d do it five-way or six-way. Sometimes we had more, but when we got above eight, it was hard to get to everyone. But we’d basically all group together and share what we could, hoping the others would be able to take it in. It gave us all a lot of experience, and it was good for team bonding. We all got...

The line moved faster than he had expected, and before he knew it, he was in the trial. It still kind of annoyed him, though.
Appearing before Oozagh, his vision was blurry and distorted. If he thought additional gravity made fighting harder, then the vicious, slime-like atmosphere of the 8th stage trial was something else altogether.
Honestly, if he hadn’t gained as much strength as he had and increased his constitution, then this run would likely already be over. Besides...

Catching up with Mo’han would have to wait, and he quickly made himself scarce. Hearing that the asura wasn’t just two stages ahead of him, but had completed the trial considerably easier, had sent his ambitions into overdrive.
He was probably being too hard on himself. After all, Mo’han was the strongest person in the entire sector, and far ahead of him level-wise. But who was Aaron to care about such logical considerations? A goal had been set, and he wanted to smash it. In his ...

An exaggerated sigh escaped Aaron’s lips as he waited. It wasn’t long, only a minute or two. But that could add up. He imagined how much that would have affected him if it had been like this when he first arrived.
Two minutes here and there would have hugely slowed him down if he had to die dozens, or even hundreds of times, to beat a trial. Luckily, he didn’t die anywhere near as often now.
He decided to close his eyes and feel for this spirit as he waited. Every second he ...

It only took a couple of minutes to reach the front, but waiting in line felt so mundane. It reminded Aaron of his life before the integration, and actually caused a little reflection.
Strangely, all the violence of the multiverse had started to feel very normalized. He wasn’t sure if he would straight up admit he preferred this, but he certainly didn’t want to go back to organized civilization. It sounded insane, even in his head. But who wanted to go back to lines and bills?

“Yeah. Wait, finally?”
“Aye. Ye've been in here for about a week, ye have.”
Aaron sighed. He knew it had been a while, but that was a little overkill. Then again, besides the very start of the trials, it was his fastest run of leveling.

As he walked back to the crafting station, Aaron mentally made a list of what he would need to do to defeat Mo’han. His main problem was that he couldn’t damage the asura, though he might have solved that with his spirit form. He doubted he would ever get to the point where he could survive a blow—at least, not while still in the Trials and unable to gain significant exp—so there was no point in working on durability. What he needed was attack power, evasiveness, and an increase in hi...

He had barely heard the cyclops, going into a little bit of a trance as he looked up from his hands, and the transparent spirit that lagged alongside his movements.

They didn’t have a chain linking them like the previous trial; instead, they were forced to fight through a series of rooms. At the end of each room were doors leading to the next room. However, the trick to it was that the doors would only open when both trial participants were within about a meter of it.
Currently, Aaron was fending off a small squad o...

Fighting against blood magic was a new experience for Aaron. Unlike most attacks he had faced up until this point, the demon’s blood magic directly assaulted his vitality.
Interestingly, the demon didn’t move a whole lot. Instead, it just stood there, sending out streams of blood that sapped at Aaron’s life energy.
Despite the fact that this made the attacks supremely difficult to counter, since the attacks passed straight through his defenses, there were some upsides.

He didn’t have much use for a relay stone at the moment anyway, so like many things, it went straight into his pouch.
Opening the door along the hallway that had been invisible to him, he stepped into the room. Inside, he found himself in some kind of steampunk telephone switchboard office.
The walls were entirely covered in antique-looking switch panels, a...
