Gwen and Brad are old college friends of Britney and Jack respectively, and it was through their mutual friendships that Jack was first introduced to Britney.
Brad and Gwen had been dating for several years and have just recently gotten engaged. Gwen is a naturally reserved type and may seem a little uptight to some, but Brad's very laidback and boisterous nature provides a healthy yin to her yang.

Accolade: Chapter II (Pg. 8-15)
Britney starts to learn that Jack's interests involve more than just a valley-girl accent; clothing and appearance also play a role. As Chapter 2 comes to a close, Jack seems to lay down a challenge for Britney, but she appears too lost in the moment to really consider it. We'll have to see in the next chapter how she'll respond!

Joanna, a strung out workaholic, comes to Dr. Rapport for guidance to a less stressful way of life. She can actually be seen in the background of Bimbo Eyes during various points in the comic, and now we get to learn more of the details of her experience with the good doctor.
It's a very classic Stepfordization transformation from a worker bee into the dutiful, happy homemaker that I don't think I do that often.
