He was right. Damn him to all the hells but he was right. It was stupid keeping a trump card in reserve when I wasn’t even guaranteed to win the fight I was presently in and that grated at me. Onoki was bot my better. No. In fact,, I was certain that I was the stronger of the two of us. It had just been a lapse of judgement. Go through with that attack, destroy the clone and then find the slippery bastard wherever he had gone hiding to. That had ben my plan only for the clone to leave a rat...

Igneel and I banked to the side, seeing some of the Ships make the wise, if cowardly choice o trying to retreat back to the harbour. In a single pass of dragon fire, we taught them why that was far from a wise choice. And then we were back at it again. They hadn’t anticipated facing a dragon, and it showed. Their scorpions were aimed too low to he ground to have any chance of hitting Igneel and I as we made our semi-irregular patterns. We still varied our flight pattern as much as we could,...

If only that was the end of it, I thought, as I was harassed by a flock of birds that seemed to appear out of nowhere and begin pecking at me. A disillusionment charm on the birds themselves until they were in range? Fleur! I twisted my wand, setting the birds on fire with one blow and then twisted my wand around my head, casting the wide-area hominem revelio. Fleur’s glowing hand was mere inches away from the cup. She blocked my bludgeoner, but the force of it was enough to force her at le...

I screamed the high Valyrian word as we came to a stop, and Igneel wasted no time in heeding my orders, bathing the ships in blue flames as we passed by on our flight path. “Dragon” I heard quite a few of the men scream in fear, but it was too late for them. Much too late. Th arrows they tried to aim in my direction never even made it close as constant beats of Igneel’s wings knocked everything that even thought about coming close to me astray before it could try. We banked to the left,...

It was a chess game, I realized when I walked closer and leaned over it. The pieces were not clearly demarcated. Instead they were the same dozens used for each piece but the board was definitely a chess board, and the position that was presently upon it was one that was easily reachable in a chess game. In fact, it was move seven of the mainline theory of the London system. How ironic. I only kew so much chess theory because Tom Riddle had seen chess as one more way to lord his intellect ove...

He sent another blast of dust release. My mass of mud ferried nee out of the ay even as I made more and more mud around us. I was drawing in nature energy, turning it not sage chakra and then using it to fuel my mud release as quickly as I could. I wa s cycle that led to me forming my own golem out of mud. At least the very beginnings of it until Onoki cut off my legs from under me with a blast of dust release.i reformed them as quickly as I could, but I had to realise that I was under an inh...

As I stared down the metaphorical barrel of a gun, I felt my options count down until there was only one remaining. Teleport back home and let Tsunade and Mito deal with this. I could already think of a basic ritual to flush my chakra system that had a good chance of working. Between the two of them, hey’d come up with something guaranteed to work for sure. But that felt too much like giving up, like throwing in the towel, and the very thought of it was making m want to retch. Against Hanzo...

I teleported backward, landing right next to my clone atop Jinpei’s body as he began to force the ground away so he could dig himself underneath it. “Belay that,” I ordered instead, and sent three kunai into the air, preparing my space-time ninjutsu again. Once again, space itself seemed to fold as the dust release technique hit my portal and began to be sucked in. The only difference between this time and any of the others was that instead of teleporting the technique to a random part ...

The plan was to bleed Tyrosh, but not to capture it. The writ we had received from Viserys to wage war in the Stepstones had been very specific— granting us authority to do whatever necessary to secure peace in the region, but prohibiting us from attacks, even reprisals, on powers within mainland Essos. All we were going to do, then, was attack Tyrosh’s fleet and argue that that was not an attack on Tyrosh itself. Besides, if we were being completely honest, we had no chance of taking the...

Uncaring for who might be watching or what they might say, Corlys swept me into his arms the second I landed, holding my head between his right arm and his chest like it was an egg he was scared he would crack while seeming to be doing his best to shatter my ribs at the same time. I did my best to return the hug.
“Well done. That was very well done. Haven’t seen flying like that since your mother,” he said, and that was high praise. Rhaenys was pretty much universally accepted as ...

I continued down the maze, taking two lefts in a row until I came by my next task. A sphinx stood in the middle of the path, and while I brought my wand to bear, I knew this was not a fight that I particularly wanted. For one, the damn things were magical resistant even up to some od the darkest arts out there. For another, they weren’t dumb brutes. They knew how to leverage their advantages. The only reason they weren’t considered wizard-killers in the same breath as Nundus, and Chimeras...

My chakra control was good, but not so good that I could mange three separate elements at the same time— only one of them being my primary affinity, so the boil release amplification to my physical state faded away as I rushed at the golem, leaving me just in sage mode. And I used the word, just, very lightly there. Sage mode was one hell of a boost. It didn’t do much to increase my raw speed, ut it gave me an awareness of my surroundings that allowed me know to stop just a bare inch befo...

I felt my connection to the kunai I’d just teleported away from disappear a second later, and another one of my kunai went the same way a few seconds later. It was an interesting strategy, and a way I actually hadn’t anticipated someone using to fight the Hiraishin. What made it even more impressive was that this was hosted first time facing the technique. If someone like Chiyo or Hanzo figured a workaround, it would make sense considering we’d crossed paths before and they had been vic...

Just as expected, there was naught but driftwood where our advance fleet was supposed to be. Without a doubt, those ships had been captured almost to the vessel, and now our men, loyal Velaryon men, were either beneath this very sea or on their way to be sold into slavery at this very moment. Pirates did not keep prisoners, and the hunger the triarchy had for the flesh trade was well known. That was why the expressions of the crew as we passed the fleet’s remains were far from des...

Moving past the slug led me to a dead end. I backtracked a step or two and took the other turn instead. I was met with a deep chasm instead of a pathway and turned to the wall instead. The wall besides the chasm, unlike the walls and hedges about the rest of the maze were not spelled to resist charm work so I started with that instead, stabbing my wand into the hedge to create a series of steps along the side of the hedge.
I followed them carefully, allowing my ritual enhanced body to ...

The explosion pushed it forward until it disappeared into the grass of the maze only for me to barely twist out of the way of a pincer that came down from behind me. The pincer stabbed itself into the ground, cracking the transparent stone. I fired two cutting curses at it, but both deflected off its carapace and it exploded again, shooting straight at me once again. For a second time, I jumped over to avoid the creature and it continued on into the hedge. It can out again from the other side...

“There is no chance that Tyrosh is working against us on their own. Where they go, so do the other bastard daughters. They also would not have dared to make a move against a Westerosi effort without substantial support.”
“Support….or assurance” I said, fielding the thought that had been nagging my head since Quentin had made his confession. Tyrosh had known exactly where we would be. They had known we would have a dragon. That meant they had a spy. Of course, the spy could be...

Onoki folded his hands together and another blast of dust release shot from his hands and enclosed the entire mass of mud in a cube of light. A second later, it was just dust. All dust. I fired a set of kunai in his direction,, preparing to teleport to them in a second, but his golem’s hand lashed out, moving in an arc that managed to deflect all the kunai back to the ground in less time than it had taken me to throw them. I sighed and unsealed my bow from my sleeve’s sealing dimension. T...

“His name is Quentin Sand. He claims to be a Blackmont Bastard, and that he was hired by Tyrosh with the plan to kill a Dragon here.” I said as I marched into the meeting room adjourned to Corlys’ quarters aboard his flagship, the Queen Rhaenys. His eyes sharpened as he looked up from the sea charts he and his men had been pouring over.
“To kill a Dragon? Specifically that? Not to ambush our fleet as a whole but to kill a dragon?” He asked.
“Yes, Father. Ac...

I shot straight at him, steam trailing my form. I felt my body accelerate more and more as I moved over ground. When my feet left the ground, pushing me forward and for his had, steam shot after me like I was a cork from a pressure cooking pot sent flying. Somehow, he still managed to get the golem to react in time and we clashed fists. For the first time in this form, I hit something and it didn’t just bend around me. I struck first, and I struck twice. One spell for Krum, the other for Fleur— bludgeoners that left my wand like fireworks and splattered out against their shields. I was forced to spin out of the way of Cedric’s piercing hex. Krum aimed a dark lance of magic at me that I failed to recognise so I dodged it to avoid complications, and felt a metallic taste in my mouth as the spell passed my head. Interesting. “Riddikulus” I muttered for the umpteenth time, turning this version of myself into a pale facsimile of a ghost that lost its tether to the ground and floated off into the ceiling. I chuckled. That one was actually almost funny. The creature winced, but apart from that, just continued its footing. It seemed to flicker through space.
