I’ve been going through a tutorial on Ctrl Paint about Design Basics.
https://ctrlpaint.myshopify.com/collections/design/products/design-basics-2-shape
Although I’ve been drawing for 10 years, ‘design’ often eluded me. I went to college for design(Websites & graphic design for logos/posters) and while it introduced me to the basics, it didn...

More like ‘A Year Survived’, but, it’s officially come to its close. We’ve slain the beast by persevering through it and all of the difficulties it brought. In quite a few ways I’m still not used to this, but I’ll hope for clearer skies in this next year.
The point of this post though, the final NukiNews of 2020, is to go over how I did! You can check out the previous quarters of the year in these review posts:

So, with the last Nuki News of the year being on the 30th, I wanna do somethin’ different here and get your thoughts on the series, Nuki News itself!
Namely, what have you enjoyed about these? Has there been a favorite Nuki News post of yours? Multiple? Did you go through the trouble of reading some of them and find they drone on and on and had no value to you? Thoughts on how you feel about ‘em is valuable here! You can DM me elsewhere or on Patreon ...

Well well well! The final Ask Artie Anything for the year! I want to thank all of the $5+ patrons that have been supporting me during such a turbulent time especially. I hope these have been fun for yall to see me drawing the answers to these- I only just now feel myself getting the hang of it, haha.

A few questions related to gifts! I tend to make the most out of usable gifts...

I Found Someone Better than Me.
Before you panic; don’t worry! This post isn’t to put myself down! This is more a post to help others who may go through the difficulties one faces when comparing yourself to others- it’s something my younger self likely felt at some point too. This is an inevitable part of being a creative, and I might say inevitable for being a person in general, especially in our internet age. You’re going to one day find someone who does wha...

So! I’m gunna do a 3-parter Nukinews going over the last 10 years and my relationship with art; starting from when I was 17 to now, when I’m 27. Honestly wonder how I’d feel, if I got to meet 27 year old me, and see what I was doing and capable of doing now! I think it’s very safe to say I’m so glad I started drawing when I did, so let’s start at the beginning and work our way to the end of 2013!
I used to draw frequently as a kid; and I remember I had a strong ability to co...

After going through October, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is time to move on from my day job, and do art full-time. Looking back at the start of October, I think that’s why I was so nervous initially. Because inside I knew I should pursue my calling, my heart’s desire sooner than later.
But why now? After working here for 4 years, I’ve found no joy in my day to day work- and emotionally I feel pretty numb or frustrated with it. Even if they paid me double, triple, etc, th...

I know we’ve all heard that adage of “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst”. It was something my mom would tell me often growing up, so I’ve internalized it a fair bit. Maybe you could see the current situation in the world as the worst outcome we could find ourselves, and we for sure were not prepared for it. Because of that, I think for a lot of us it’s become far too easy to expect the worst off the bat. If I were to talk to my younger self, I’d ask that despite everything,...

Final Fantasy IV…! A classic JRPG and not only is it my first Final Fantasy I played, but my first JRPG in general, aside from the pokemon games, of course. I got to play it on my beloved Gameboy Advance. When you’re younger, you don’t scrutinize details as much in a story, so I never really understood until replaying the game this month just how absolutely cheesy this game’s plot is, ahah. There’s a character who betrays you 3 times over, multiple side characters seem to ‘die’ ...

I noticed when planning October, I was hesitating. I felt like there should be something I try to accomplish this month, outside of streaming every week, and meeting a financial goal I set to earn. I still might- maybe a PWYW sketch commission stream on my birthday? Still, I just realize there’s a lot I’d need to start pushing for myself to make sure some day I can do this full time. I settled on working to advertise this Patreon to my Twitter and FA audience more- make a post once a week...

We’re still here, glad to be, as hard as 2020 has been for all of us. I think I’ve noticed this segment of the year(Jul/Aug/Sept) is mentally/emotionally challenging for me throughout my life. It’s the 2nd quarter of the year(going into spring and summer, Apr/May/June where I hit on a peak and then drop my momentum. It’s got me thinking ahead for next year already and how I’m going to tackle it despite whatever outside challenges there will be. What kind of goals will I have? Well, ...

We’ve got ourselves a double-feature this week on Artie Asks Artists! And that’s because they feel intrinsically linked! The topics are Networking, and Kindness. An artist needs an audience to make this their living, but as well, a creator who is cold, unkind, and unreceptive to their audience likely won’t have much...

So! I mentioned in my half-year review that I’ve created a sort of questionnaire to give to artists who have been walking the path I aim to traverse in the future. I sent this questionnaire to as many full-time furry artists as I followed! I got a total of 12 responses, and I have made about 12 points/conclusions from their personal perspectives and the links or similarities connecting them. Each artist has different circumstances in life after all, so it’s important to take what re...

I didn’t expect to ever write or talk about this, but it’s come to my mind due to the last Father’s Day passing us by. I don’t want to touch the prickly pear with the USA’s dad/father figure problem(or families that lack a father figure). More that I want to offer an idea of what Fatherhood is to me. It’s a person or figure providing an example of positive masculinity to someone typically younger than themselves, that supports them and is invested in that person’s growth in thei...

If you know me, I have a very strong interest in bellies. I think since this interest has played a large part in my time in the fur community, I feel it’s good to dedicate at least 1 post to why I focus on them so much!
The fur community is what allowed me to explore this part of myself that has always been there. It took some time, I didn’t start deliberately including belly-focus in my art until 2015. Honestly I had a great deal of embarrassment and shame for liking bellies ...
