So, here's the back story: the kingdom fell to a clan rebellion and the royal family is mostly dead. The palace guards all ran or surrendered after the king's death. There was the only guard who helped the princess escape during the night after the fire burned all her clothes. Without money, power and army she's desperately trying to keep this guy in her service.
