I want to give the pumpkin witch some friends. At first I was sure they had to be other witches, but then I got the idea for her friend to be a reaper! I don't know why but I really wanted to make her an elf. Here's the result, cute eh?

As part of my current class, we're learning about storyboarding from this French anime artist. He was teaching us how to simplify characters for storyboarding. I made this little oni while practicing.

Demon girls warmups from class.

I'm taking a class right now called 'The Drawing Sprint'. It's from Rad Sechrist's online school. Today we were doing warmups by drawing a character in our style. It was a fun and low stress exercise, I really enjoyed it!

Here's one of Rad's demon girl OCs. I had a ton of fun with her big poofy jacket hehehe.

My current music obsession is Turkish and Lebanese pop/folk. I was listening to this album by Zafer Dilek, and I wanted to sketch the lady on the front for fun. I got a little carried away and made it a full drawing. Attached is the line art which I'm quite proud of.

Practice, studies, warmups.

Here's some of what I've been up to day to day lately. I'm taking the time to assess all of my drawing habits. For the longest time, I haven't really done any kind of warm ups, I just jump in and start drawing.

I've been trying these warmups that Peter Han suggests, where you do a series of lines and ellipses. I've also been trying out drawing boxes around a perspective grid. The boxes are more to exercise my ability to draw in perspective. I think I'm getting some results!

More Impocompo

I'm obsessed with drawing tires better. I've been admiring a lot of Akira Toriyama's drawings lately and he's so fantastic at drawing vehicles! Hopefully I'll get that good someday.

An Imp and her moped.

My gf and I always talk about this character we made named Anklebiter. She's a little imp and she rides around on a moped. It's a Honda Motocompo but we call it an 'Impocompo'. Here's a sketch of her and her ride!

She's finished! Really proud of how they came out. I tried this sort of studio trigger thing with the hair shading??? I gave she shadow of the hair this green color.

To inspire myself,  I wanna draw some fanart. A friend of mine has this really cute Demon OC and I couldn't resist! The arm and hand pose were super difficult, but I think I pulled them off.

Back to basics

I've taken a few days off. I cleaned my office, packed some orders, took care of school stuff.

Today I'm getting back into the swing of things. I did some warmups and now I'm doing face studies!

I did another Vera to make some more instax prints with, here is the actual art used! I'm pleased with the pose, although I really want to learn to do some of those anime splash and shine effects to do more beach pieces like this. I also whipped up a quick topless version as a treat!

Busy day today

Hey folks! I released the new summer witch pins today. I've been super busy packing orders. I'll likely be very busy tomorrow but I wanted to show you guys a cute oni I'm working on. I'm planning on making her an instax print. I normally never draw short haired babes so I figured I'd try.

Coloring the office ladies

I'm working on those office ladies today. I don't normally color this ambitiously, but I feel driven to do so! I could do a more simple coloring style but I think the results will be better this way. It's honestly pretty fun too.

The beer has been the hardest part so far, I've never really had to render a beer glass before! Maybe I should do more still life paintings.

Office Ladies - Linework and backgrounds

Worked more on my office ladies today. I decided to cut it down to three instead of four; I couldn't really come up with a concise fourth personality.

I finished the final line work, and did some basic flatting (blocking out the major color areas, separating the background).

The backgrounds are just stock photos I cut up and pasted around. I hit them with some gaussian blur to give the instax effect, might hit them with some more towards the end.

Some more studies. I'm working on those office lady instax prints, so I wanted to refresh my understanding of the upper torso.

Office ladies after work

I'm designing some new Instax prints. This is a series of four different office ladies at a bar. Having a lot of fun so far, especially with the sassy one.

Practicing boobs (especially larger ones)

It's been a while since I've really sat down and done some boob studies. They're easy to take for granted, but drawing them well is deceptively difficult. I often resort to drawing smaller ones so I wanted to push myself to draw larger weightier ones.

How I make product images.

I spent the day making product images for the Instax prints. A friend of mine has this fantastic outdoor table to I brought the prints over to photograph them.

I also have an old trick where I splay out a bunch of the product (usually stickers), and I take a picture of one on the pile.

There's generally a mixture of photography and editing. Perhaps I'll write a tutorial on it sometime!

NSFW: A late night experiment with Instax

So last year I bought this interesting contraption. It's called the Instax Mini Link, it's basically a digital printer for Instax photos. It's supposed to be for printing off photos you take on your phone, however I realized pretty quickly I could use it for drawings.

Anyway, I'm taking this week off but I wanted to have some content to post throughout the week, so I've been staying up playing around with this idea.

Quick demon babe in a different style.

Been on a big realism/kinda realism kick lately and wanted to try something more graphic for fun.  I'll include each step of the drawing as a way to understand how I build a drawing!

Couple quirks; I almost gave her eyes at one point, but instead I ended up sticking with just the lashes, something very vintage about it. Space invader; pro gamer! This one was trickier than it looks. Backgrounds are probably my weakest area but I think I made something passable.

Continuing on this piece. I decided to give her some headphones and something to chew on. The next step will be to make some sort of background; I'm thinking string lights and maybe a TV?

Also! You may notice that my drawings always have a grey background. I sketch on grey because it's gentler on my eyes, a common practice for digital artists.
