Personal Project Poll - 2015-12-10
Added 2015-12-11 06:16:51 +0000 UTCAs I have previously announced, I added a new reward that will allow patrons to choose which among a few of my personal projects I should work on next. These are project of personal interest to me, and that usually end up taking a backseat to other artistic commitments such as commissions, rewards, prizes and collective projects.
I'll be posting these polls twice a month (I've settled on the 10th and 25th of each month), and the voting will run for 3 days after the post is published. All $1+ tier patrons are entitled to vote, either through a comment on the poll post or, should they wish to have their vote remain anonymous, through a Patreon private message.
After the voting is over, I'll give priority to the chosen project whenever I have time for a personal piece. I cannot guarantee that my commitments will allow me to conclude the chosen project before the next personal project poll is up, but if that doesn't happen, I'll tackle the successive winners in order.
Keep in mind that the same projects may appear in several successive polls, or disappear temporarily only to reappear a couple of months later. I just list here the four ideas that seem more appealing for me to do at a given time.
So here are the choices for the first poll:
1.
A countryside landscape painting. A few months ago, I was challenged by a friend to create a simple landscape painting, featuring a flower field, a river running through a valley, and mountains on the background. I know that this must seem a little lame by the standards of the usual contents of my pieces, but I'd like to consider this my happy little Bob Ross, and I have every intention of living up to this challenge.
2.
The first page of a My Little Pony fan comic featuring Princess Luna and Shining Armor. Some time ago, I was handed a pretty great script of a comic that purported to explore these characters in a funny and touching way, but my fear of commitment to long projects has prevented from picking this up until now. Your preference for this project would be just the thing I need to get me going and finally start working on this comic, which will probably be about 18-20 pages long by the time it's finished. Each election will ensure the creation of one new page, so you'll probably be seeing this one here many more times, even if it wins.
3.
Videogame fan art: Shantae. Who doesn't love Shantae? I sure do! I already drew her in the past, but I feel that I wasn't good enough at humanoid anatomy at the time to do her lovely figure justice. Since I've been able to get significant skill improvement at drawing the human figure in the last few months, I would really enjoy to have another go at drawing the spunky airhead half-genie.
4.
Them's Fightin' Herds anthro series #6: Tianhuo. This is the only character from the Mane 6 videogame for which I haven't come up with an anthro design yet. I already finished Arizona, Velvet and Oleander, and have design sketches for Paprika and Pom. If you choose this, I'll create an anthro design for Tianhuo Longma, and create a finished drawing of her as well!
Comments
Perhaps not, but from what I understand, most of Patreon works on the trust system anyway, as in, it trusts you not to just unpledge at the end of the month after getting that months content, and repledge at the beginning of the next. If patrons dont spread the poll around, then it'll stay here.

2015-12-14 18:39:21 +0000 UTCWhilst this would make sense, I don't think it can be done because there's no way to verify votes are coming from patreon supporters, since there's no login required like here to vote.

2015-12-13 21:52:52 +0000 UTC1 seems good! Also I'd recommend using StawPoll to help keep track of these, might be easier than reading and counting the comments. ;P

2015-12-11 20:25:56 +0000 UTCI like the sound of number 1. I'm sure it'd be a healthy break from characters all the time, not that there's anything wrong with those!

2015-12-11 15:02:51 +0000 UTC1, the landscape painting - if nothing else, to practice something different that may help with future work down the line. There's a particular charm to a scene where both the characters and environment match neatly, so letting the environment shine a bit for a change from your usual character-focused work could be interesting.
