So do the payment processors in charge of everything. Stripe/Paypal/Whatever. Forward and back. Every transaction on here is like that.
it can mean that your payments go through 2-4 different processors that all take a cut. Which makes it worse.
And it can mean that your favorite creators can lose up to 40 percent of what they make in fees before they ever see a dime. And, after the Apple controversy that just came up (Apple is going to be charging you 30 percent of every subscription on Patreon done from the Apple IOS, removing Patreon as an app from all their devices, and forcing everyone onto subscription-based billing on Nov 2025) it quickly adds up as to reasons why you should move.
At least in my opinion. That's just me.
