Miles loves Gwen

As we all know the comic book industry is going more PC and more inclusive. Captain America is black now, Ice-man is gay, Thor is now a woman...

Marvel and DC are now attempting to be more PC, more inclusive and more friendly to other genders, races...and whatever. While I do agree that there should probably be more diverse characters that reflect the society that we live in, I completely disagree with destroying a characters identity just to fit a narrative. As a kid I loved Spider-Man not because he was some hetero CIS-gendered white male, but because he was an outcast nerd like myself. That was something relatable. As I got older, and dealt with different things in my life I stopped being able to relate to Spider-man.

And then the decision came to change Spider-Man to a mixed-race black kid. Being "black" myself I was interested on this new change, figuring it would only be a gimmick that wouldn't last long. I was wrong. However excited I was for this change, I ended up hating Miles and made that known to my friends and others online...and to my surprise I was told that the reason I didn't like Miles was because I was racist...or some bullshit.

I didn't care for Miles because he was poorly written, and honestly was very annoying and irritating in the way he acted. Actually, everyone Miles interacted with; Outside of Gwen, MJ, Aunt May, and Jessica Drew. This cast was still written pretty good.  Miles' father leaving because 'My son is this mutant monster thing!'...that really bugged me. I get where the writers were going, but it fell completely flat on its face.

And Then Edge of Spider-Verse came out, and by god some of the Spiders that were introduced then definitely needed their own stories. One of which was Gwen Stacy. Her return is probably the smartest thing Marvel has done in quite a long time. In actuality, Everything that Gwen has become is what should've happened during the Ultimate Spider-Man arc.

So how does this all tie together? Like This:

In the push for more 'diversity' in comics there's something I noticed. There aren't too many interracial couples. Well, none that last anyway. Let's list them:

Cloak and Dagger; Luke Cage and Jessica Jones; Mr.Terrific and Power Girl (to my knowledge this was just a fling.) Thats just off the top of my head, and I'm sure others will come up with the same thing.

So, in an attempt to see if people were truly for 'more diversity' and what not I had this commissioned. The responses I've gotten in regards to this pairing have been...interesting to say the least. Hopefully, this pairing catches on. If not for the lols, for the sake of true diversity in comics.
