Plans for this month.

Hey everyone!

I do have some plans I'd like to carry out this month, so it may or may not seem a little quiet for a bit. However, regardless of what happens, I'd like to let everyone have a rough understanding of what I'll be busy with.

I currently have a couple of things I'd like to accomplish by this month, and I'll explain their reasons as well.

1 - Reformatting of old 'MMO?!' chapters for Pixiv release.

It's been almost a year since I've started using Pixiv, and I still havent released all 'MMO?!' chapters there. I'd like to fix this by the end of the month. This is priority number 1 for 'MMO?!'. I'll still work on the latest chapters, don't wor-

2 - Reworking the visuals + Adding a 'Monthly-Subscription' feature on randowis.com

This would be priority number 2.

In my opinion, my main site has been more or less neglected for a long time in terms of visuals and functions. I've always viewed it as a sort of hub for any and all RandoWis content, yet it hardly ever looked the part. Time for an upgrade, and what better time to add a new feature as well!

As for the subscription feature, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, but let me explain how I came to this decision first. As you all know, I personally prefer not to ask for more than I would give in terms of monetary support. It's partly because of this reason that I also feel it greedy to have more than 1 subscription service available for fans to support me with. However, what was beyond this stubborn perspective of mine, was the limit it placed on some fans if they chose to support RandoWis.

After Patreon, I had friends and other personal acquaintances who wanted to continue supporting RandoWis the way you do here, but because Pixiv and FANBOX were completely alien to them, reserved their support and tried other means to a limited degree. You can only buy so many shirts, if you know what I mean. Although this happened around the time I came to FANBOX (late 2020), recently, they asked again if there was any other way for them to support what I do, and like many of you, "sharing and loving my work" was not enough.

This made me realise that, all this time, I essentially cockblocked other fans oustide Pixiv/FANBOX who ended up with the same conclusion as these personal contacts of mine. I thought a lot about it, and my conclusion is that it would be selfish of me to persuade them to use an unfamiliar service solely just for me, which can be said if I used any other subscription-based platforms out there (Subscribestar, Ko-Fi, Fantia etc...). Thus, after learning it was something I could add to randowis.com, the best idea I ended up with was to implement a subscription feature on my main site itself. A direct and universal option for support, more or less.

The idea in my head is "If you want to support RandoWis without having to sign-up on a platform that would be completely useless to you otherwise, you can do so at RandoWis". Now, it would be arrogant to think that an unfamiliar platform would be completely useless to an individual beyond supporting me there, but the reality is those people do exist. Thus, I feel that a support function on RandoWis itself would accomodate to the majority of those who are reserving their support due to a lack of choice.

So what now?

Everything's as per normal, kinda.

I'm not going to put aside animations or 'MMO?!' completely, but I am going to focus on them secondarily. Meaning, I'll dedicate days in the week to work on them, but majority of the days in the next 2-3 weeks would be to focus on the top 2 points. I'd like to get them over and done with ASAP, but with proper diligence and quality assurance.

Your thoughts?

I'll be honest with you, the idea of having more than 1 subscription service for support is not new to me. I have been suggested this before, but I chose not to go with it then for the personal pride I mentioned earlier. Even now, this still bothers me, but hey, more money and less fees, right?

Jokes and pride aside, my intention behind this, is this; to provide a direct/universal alternative to Pixiv, for those who still wish to support RandoWis. A choice, should they seek it. One that should have been available a long time ago, and for that I'm sorry.

This feature (and all main site changes) are still in the developmental stages so I'm not sure what may or may not work, but know that the implementation would be the same;

- Pledges are $1 USD for full access (if the $1 is capped, then the same $3 and $5 tiers will be implemented).

- The subscriber-only content there would be the exact same posts as here; Works-In-Progress, Behind The Scenes, and extras (except we'll have Japanese translated versions here).

If you find yourself as someone who chose to support me here without any other use for Pixiv or FANBOX, then I sincerely apologise that I've only decided on this alternative now, and hope that your time/investment here has not been a waste. As someone who chose to follow me here, you have every right to criticise me, or this decision, should you feel the need t-

Nonetheless, I'd love to hear your thoughts if you have any!

Love it? Hate it? Is it fair, unfair? Greedy, hypocritical? Let me know in the comments!

Also, may I ask that we keep this private for now. I'll probably make a public announcement if I feel it necessary.

Love you much much, and I'll see you in the next post! ♥

-RandoWis

P.S

I don't think I'll translate this post into Japanese as I feel this applies more towards the English speaking fans, and also because it's my intention, now and in the future, for this FANBOX page to be the go-to place for the Japanese speaking fans. Hopefully I'm not being naive here.

With respect and love, Pixiv is shit my dude and if you had a sub option for Randowis. Com I would rather be there. I think it's fair to have both so you cover ALL options for fans tho. I would argue that MMO taking a back seat almost to re doing the old issues for this site and animations is a poor choice, as the wait time and such for MMO is already rough and it taking a back seat to old issues and animated shorts makes me think we're going to have another decade long wait. However getting Rando. Com up to snuff is 100% important!

My only question is: does Pixiv take a part of the 5$ sub? Would the new site also take a part of it? (In other word, would you get more money from the new subs than the Pixiv one)

There is no greed in trying to support yourself. The subscription on your own site seems like a good idea. You could probably either go with higher prices as well, or let people set their own price (above a certain amount or something? I dunno how it works). Either way, keep up the good work!
