Preview - New Alternate Monk Subclass!

As I work on a rather large update for my Alternate Monk class, I thought it would be nice to give you a preview of one of the newest additions!

The Way of the Astral Warrior is my Alt Monk's version of the highly anticipated Way of the Astral Self from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. This is a very strong subclass option for the (weak) PHB Monk, so I had to make a few adjustments with this conversion so it doesn't blow every other option out of the water.
Astral Self. It costs WIS mod (min of 1) Ki to manifest your Astral Self. It costs more, but the cost is the WIS mod "bonus Ki" you get as an Alternate Monk. And, if you want your Astral Self to be worth it, you'll need a good Wisdom score.
As you gain levels/features, you'll notice the cost of manifesting your Astral Self does not increase (since it scales with your Wisdom score). So, no more manifesting random parts - you always get the whole A S T R A L S E L F.
I've also moved some of the features like a bonus to checks (Astral Visage) and the ability to deflect spell attacks (Mystical Defense) to work at all times.

Astral Self and Mercy are (in my opinion) far and away the strongest official options for the Monk, and allow them to keep up with other official classes. Adding them into the Alt Monk (which is significantly stronger) is going to necessitate some power-adjustments for the TCoE Monk subclasses.

2023-05-18 04:24:15 +0000 UTCOtherwise, this looks cool! Astral Self is heavily overrated for PHB monk but I'm glad it's streamlined for Alt Monk since it works so well for the latter. I will note that losing the AOE damage when you manifest the effect is kinda sad and I think that should be brought back since you really will never have a chance to use it on reversion. I don't think it's too much to have that.
