All good things, right?
To call this a labor of love is a gross understatement. I'm continuously touched and amused that what I thought 8 years ago was an extremely vulgar and depraved little piece of smut would turn out to be so well-received. But with chapters 2-4, I was able to inject much more character development and range into the work because I was invested in giving it the love it needed to become the series I wanted it to be – and, to be honest, the one you all deserved.
The final chapter’s a bit supersized compared to the others, but the second half warranted special attention to detail, especially as I remembered more and more about my time in the Philippines. I'll probably be continuously editing this post as I re-read it, but raw or not, it's ready to be shared.
Is this the end of Breeding the Help? Well, it all depends on you. If there's interest, there are tempting story threads I've purposefully left waiting, and I wouldn’t be opposed to picking it up with an epilogue series at a later date.
I've included my original notes for the continuation of Breeding the Help after Chapter 1 from way back in 2015, which I wrote on a beach in Indonesia. If you can actually read my chicken scratch, you'll see that almost all of the story beats were included.
Now that we have a conclusion, I'm happy to open up the floor to any questions you may have regarding Breeding the Help. Probably the biggest question is if I'm Carl. To that, I'll give you a very G.R.R. Martin answer:
Well...yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes.
I'm looking forward to hearing all of your comments and questions about Chapter 4 and Breeding the Help as a whole.
