The company Jasko Games owns the CCG called "My Hero Academia"

This brand already has hulu episodes/ Manga books etc....

They released the the 1st edition base set earlier this year.

Multiple patrons have conacted me asking to carry this product line.

In March of 2022 they plan on releasing the next set.

They are offering a partnership for a Variety Kit with exclusive Promo card and a Playmat exclusive for the patrons for each release moving forwad.

Price would be pretty cheap at $400 range

includes an estimated 3-5 booster Boxes + playmat + promo + foil DLC deck

What does everyone think?

We live in an age where anything can be limited and make money on. With that said too many TCGs and not enough time to play or space to collect. When will Rudy be offering a Warehouse Service? (Joking)

Hey, I talked about this is in my "other" mid month update for October; absolutely crazy how far this game has come here since then. I've kept it my personal policy to be a patron only for patron's sake but this offer may be simply too tempting

running out of room.

Matthew Miller

I haven't seen this anime, but just watched a trailer with my son and we're going to check it out. We still need to try out Metazoo, but it seems like this would be an interest of ours, especially if the anime is watchable.

Jasco was run out of Las Vegas where they had a scene for the game they were producing at the time (UFS) they were able to get a core following but was difficult to grow the game even with everyone in the community actively trying to recruit people. Around that time or shortly after they did a megaman board game that is often brought up as a huge kickstarter failure both for delivery and the game apparently not being good at all. It seems like what they have done is rebrand UFS to a slightly different game but would argue the art style has suffered and the core mechanics probably not improving. I would love if they were to be successful but history on the company and their games have proven to not be a financially worthwhile, looking at starter deck and boxes released years ago have not gone up or it seems most of the cards are hard to move. The game played like a more complicated and random version of Flesh and Blood but without its own IP. They did do some cool stuff like make a card of you if you won the championship or they gave someone a car one year. Oddly enough I would believe in this more than MetaZoo but financially think MetaZoo is/will dominate over this product.

Ryan Stiltz

i dont see the manga going 5-10 years more, I feel this game will only have relevance for a couple of years if that... another dragonball super

Mr. Mountainjam

Way too much Anime !!!

My Hero Academia? Count me in coach!

Too many games, know nothing about it other than it’s hard to learn. I’m out! Wallet can’t keep up with all these new ones and still get mtg and fab and metazoo products products.

I dont know it

michael rohrbaugh

At this point, due to the product not being proven, i think it comes to these two point; if you have the extra money to throw away and not even notice its gone, buy in. If not, don't.

We're back in the Late-1990s!

Varrisk

I can write a thesis paper on why this is going to be a poor investment. The caster chronicles is a great product that ultimately could not gain enough market share in the US to sustain growth - they’re a separate company split from force of will which had a huge market presence in this style of tcg before they diluted their own product. The caster chronicles is limited in print without any 1st edition shenanigans and is executed correctly.

Joey Morsi

My best bud and I have followed the manga since day 1. He's been an avid collector of the figurines, and cardboard is more my thing so when my LGS had some booster boxes and pre-cons in stock for my birthday I decided to check it out. The cards themselves a really cool - fantastic foiling effects and a built in chase card system with the extra rare slot. Still wrapping my head around some of the game rules, but the mechanics are really interesting. Probably the closest attempt to capturing a fighting game feeling in a cardboard format that I've come across. The potential is there, the cultural foothold is there, and the cards look nice enough to display on a collector's shelf. Playmate and an exclusive promo? Icing on the cake

I chose scam bc I laughed so hard but idk maybe

Pale Dog

Yes I’ll buy it.

Not into anime, but I could see the potential since there is a series to push popularity (Pokémon did this, but I think the card game existed first). The creative space is certainly limited because of the show as well (as others pointed out). Think it’s more high risk low reward, considering each other “successful” tags already too (FaB and MetaZoo). After collecting magic, FaB, and now MetaZoo, I think this is too much for me personally and will pass and watch how it unfolds.

Kevin Dirth

I just don't have the money to focus on multiple tcgs. At this point i am only buying Fab

As a collector/player over investor and a fan of the My Hero Anime... I'm out. Gotta save my money for the games I already play.... And also for Metazoo because I WANT to play it. At the same time, I love seeing more options rather than just Magic. Variety is the spice of life.

real_timotto

Don't like the name....I'm out.

I opened 2 boxes I think the cards are nice and the game seems pretty casual to deck build but complicated rules wise? But I learned Weiss so I’ll get it eventually.

John Love

You forgot an option. "I'm only here for the videos."

Naruto did have a ccg and the prices aren’t that bad, especially relative to Pokémon/magic/dragonball from the same era

John Love

Focusing on FAB. The gameplay is fun. Have a sizable time and financial investment in the game already. Excited for the future. Just not interested in anything else.

I’m only buying into the Reserved List dip and I’m pretty deep in MtG, if others buy into it I encourage it. I want everyone to enjoy their hobbies and their investments to stay strong, but expanding beyond Magic just isn’t my course.

I went with haven't really heard if I'll give it a try. Almost picked too many tcgs I'm out. Between magic fab alone it is hard to keep up (also why pokemon and meta zoo I skipped on price) if the kit was similar in price to the argent saga kit it would have been a easier choice. I don't mind throwing 250 ish at a new game. 400ish I have to think harder on.

Let’s go I already opened a case. Looks amazing 🤩

The only way I'd not purchase this I think is if it released around times I'd be strapped for cash. If it's March of next year, should be fine. And I like anime, so hey, bonus!

youre still weird if you like anime

Sprinkles Winkles

In fairness to the my hero game this isnt new. Its based on the universus system which has been around for a while. This isnt a new game. Its simply a new IP skinned over a game system. I do like all the manufactured negativity though. Keep it up guys!! The more u hate the better odds Rudy will carry it

Kevin Bouch

I'm out. Not every ccg is collectable. Tired of artificial scarcity and every card game needs to be 400 + dollars. Getting down right silly.

Don't let fear hold you back in lyfe

I'm in the camp of MHA not being enough to fill a whole TCG with show/anime based lore. Even my favorite anime SAO can still only fill about 6 expansions over it's 10 year existence with reprinted cards. Plus, for Japanese anime (aside from One Piece/Naruto, now THOSE would be cool CCGs) it's common that if the show doesn't go on forever, it only fills a few seasons and is nicely closed out. There's so many amazing anime IP's, I wonder why this one over others.

I know the series/franchise, but I don't have the funds to add more ccgs. There will be others that can, but I won't be able to.

Andrew N

Last few months, with so kany releases and kits, I had to learn how to survive with a sub 100$ monthly budget soI will pass 😂

George Kladis

Um.. Nothing against it, but I've got into to many tcgs right now (and loving it) I might change my mind later, but I have no idea whip I wouldplay this with. If probably rather aliens that 400 in FaB

You got me beat! I was done at MTG and FAB. 😂

David Brosseau

I like the anime.

Not crazy about the cards, I'd rather wait for Akora.

Nothing against my hero academia or Anime (I'm actually a fan). But it's just way too many things to throw money at. Also what happens to the card game whe n the series enevitably ends? It seems that most anime themed card games have not been profitable when they are tied to one series, such as the dragon ball z ccg (which I played). Maybe some other folks see differently, but too much risk for me especially when all stores are closed in my area so I couldn't even enjoy the game.

Shawn

I don't have confidence in anime tie-in ccg's, for a lot of reasons. If you asked me, the only reason Weiss Schwarz succeeds is because it's card game first, IP second, where the cards simply become cool merch for fans of their respective series.

Feels like dragon ball z ccg all over again. People who like the show will play, but it won't grow past that very much. A few years and it will die out. Not worth expanding the portfolio

That last option was bait

Personally, I don't want to see a "rudy card" for this game. Exclusive promo great, just not with your face! Another game with a "Rudy" will start to feel a lot like WOTC's 8 million variants where everything is special so nothing is. Will I buy it for a Rudy card, yes, yes I will cause I want the set. But it will probably feel bad because I don't see myself caring about this game.

Noah Wade

I’m into anime, I like the anime, and I agree with the game does things right and with the popularity of the anime and magna, it would be a good investment even if it might be the short term, but fingers crossed long term as well, im in

I do t know what to vote. I’m not not into more games however I’m overwhelmed with the nonstop new product. You do t have time to enjoy what you have.

For what it's worth, jasco is an American company that gets ips to put in their game. There are sets for mortal kombat, street fighter, dark stalkers, etc. The mha is a recent rebrand that's still compatible if i recall correctly

Michael Potente

Seems like this could start diluting your brand and cause burnout of both you and possibly the Patrons. You seem like quite a machine though so who knows.

Stephen Ferguson

We tried to carry it a few years ago before the mha rebrand at the lgs i manage. Game isn't very good imo. And to my knowledge, nothing historically has held value. Maybe with patron eyes on it it'll do something? 🤷‍♂️

Michael Potente

I don't like MHA, but I have no feelings about this one way or the other. Seems like a waste of cardboard though. Too limited in flavor, not that good of a series, mechanics very likely come second to art so it's probably mediocre at best in terms of design. Only way it goes up in value is if people just buy it because Rudy is selling it.

the target audience seems too young for me to personally enjoy the product, and that's important to me.

My three kids are into My Hero Academia - Manga, Animation, puzzles. All in.

Keith Hendley

Rudy! I took to the YouTubes and sat through a box opening of My Hero Macadamia… And then I sat through another just to be sure of my feelings. And if there’s anything that I’ve learned from growing up watching Bambi, its that if you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all. However! If there’s a Rudy promo in the equation—though unworthy of your exclusivity, and for whatever charitable reason you might grace this CCG—then call me Timmy.

Finger

Between Metazoo, Pokémon, Magic and FAB I’m tapped out dude.

I'm only able to buy 1 TCG.

I see it being as popular as Dragonball CCG. It has a strong YOUNG fan base. If it gets the game right the first time it could easily be better.

I'm the opposite of "playmat + promo can be sold...and then i keep free boxes....im in," I would only want to keep the playmat and promo, so I'm in if I think the boxes can be sold. So, I'm probably out on this one

Justin Calderon

I’m more cautious when it comes investing in stuff tied to japense companies. They make great stuff but often have very twisted incentives that make their business decisions confusing. Even in the 2010s the primary way to track an animes performance was based on blue-ray box set sales. 1 season of a show could easy be 100+ so not many people bought them when they can just stream the show. Only the true otakus would buy them so for a period majority of the anime coming out was the harem school style anime to cater to otakus. Another example would be Yugioh. Konami still makes bank selling tiny pieces of cardboard but ask anyone in the community and Konami’s management leaves a lot to desire.

Keith Wingert

Isn’t Quoting R Kelly like a felony now days???

Will B

I like the variety of games Rudy offers now. A few years ago it was only magic and while that was fine, I alway wished he could other games. I say go for it. Personally I don’t know if it’s investable or not but I like card games and I’m willing to give any of them a shot.

Rudy promos are $$$, I'd prob have zero interest if not for the exclusive promos and playmats.

Rudy, you holding? If so, I'm in!

Nei

No more half measures. I am in.

I mean I'm pretty 50/50 about it. Very little interest, but it's super cheap so why not? Would at the very least turn a few heads....

MSRP will be a thing of the past when the Rudy effect kicks in!

Will B

Only other games I’m even remotely interested in atm are Sorcery and Polywog. Everything else to me looks like busts for one reason or another. Plus I have too much invested now. Not a fan of anime based games. Rarely often do well long term. And Akora is trying to be an American/UK anime. How many times has that failed? I already hate all the japanese crap all over their products.

I really believe Metazoo is the unicorn of its generation. Mike is just pushing with incredible vision. I don't think everyone gets it yet.

Russ Goldich

Playmat? I'm in

2 Lainz

I would follow you into the Mists of Avalon, if that's what you mean

Brad

Ill pick up some promos/signature cards, but the manga is not as good as it used to be. Also where is the yugioh love? :c

Rosario

DBS aint gonna last. DBZ was huge back then and the game never really took off. Even now its mostly hyped cause everything else. Beautiful cards but most fans of the show don’t really care about it. I feel the same for most animes.

Most of these games based on Animes do.

Throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks. Aka when u got nothing to lose buy into everything.

MHA is already 5 seasons in and its a great story, so yes lets do this!

This. Aside from pokemon none of them have really stuck. DBZ kinda, but I’m not sure MHA has that kind of power in the market.

Jason Antokal

So what I'm hearing is that we will be addressing yugioh here soon. Thinks back to those 1st ed blue eyes boxes you tried to sneak past ye old Timmy here.

Smart man. You always make the right moves!

Prabal Singh

My Hero Academia is huge anime and teenagers love it. One day those teenagers will throw money into cards like we do. Investments aren’t always about what YOU like. I’m in!

Anime ccg are too wishy washy.

Ryan

MHA is nothing like a DBZ in staying power and even that card game seems to be on life support. Outside of Weiss I don't see the English market being sustainable for anime based stuff (and only due to Weiss having so many shows under its umbrella/having the solid base of the Japanese side), definitely out on this one.

Ceilyne

I don’t know anymore… the card game reuses things in the anime for the card art and that really turns me off.. .-.

Mitchel Nall

I'm just burned out from buying so much and running out of space physically. At this point I'm gunna need to level up in life and get myself a warehouse or something!

Prabal Singh

I have played many anime CCGs over the years but I could never get too attached to them like other games. It seems like the companies stop releasing product and give up on certain ips way to quickly. For that reason I have stopped trying out these unique games and sticking with companies and games that have a track record for producing quality products. I have seen the MHA CCG at my LGS and it seems like there is little to no interest in it. Now that is a small sample size and I can't speak for everyone but people in my area are passing on the product. I have been watching anime for years and love MHA but I most likely will not buy this product from you due to the price. Unless it's closer to $200 I would rather buy into other investments. I have taken a chance buying Weiss, Metazoo, and FAB from you so maybe just maybe I would give this a shot too.

Is this card game popular? Do you plan on taking a position in it?

Paul Makl

You do what you think is best for your brand, Ruu'di. My finances aren't in a place where I can afford to take many roller coaster taco rides right now, especially with holidays on the horizon. I'd like to be there, I'd be really surprised if this brand flopped, I know I'll likely regret missing out.

Matthew Boe

It has already been going on for about 8 years lol, its well away from being done as well. The creator actually had a naruto like length in mind, he wants to show them as full grown adults as heroes at one point. It can easily be close in length, it is quite popular and only has grown in fanbase over time

The manga seems like it has maybe one more year before it wraps up, then the anime probably has a year after that. Anime fans are sort of fickle cause there's SO MUCH out there to consume, idk if I can see something like this being around in 3-4 years. More likely by then it's just being fire sold by the pallet at pennies on the dollar.

Personally I think if Dragon Ball struggles then the lesser anime that are still really popular will also struggle. That being said I’m out (boxes proceed to skyrocket)

Dr. Joseph S.

Any chance on international shipping? Especially if there is going to be an exclusive promo

I've been wanting to buy this so if you support them and provide us some kits that would be exceptional hopefully I get the 1/1 Yugichu magiciooing Ochaco Uraraka swim suit Parallel

I'd be happy with keeping the extra goodies and selling the rest. Anime tcg's tend to have a finite lifespan (yu yu Hakusho for instance). That said this one is longer and unfinished so it should be around for some time and that doesn't include the chance for spinoffs.

I'm not excited for the game, but I'm willing to throw a little money at it and throw it in the closet.

Eins

If the CCG is only gonna be MHA then its prob not gonna last long, MHA the show/anime can only go for so long. Yea. NARUTO/NARUTO SHIPPUDDEN went for like what 15 years? Doubt MHA can go for that long.

When you doing akora?

Paul Tufis

I’d be in for a maybe lower price set; was happy with aria type difference

I've heard about this MHA CCG on different reviews. I have not heard much good about it. I have a feeling this CCG will go the way of the One Piece CCG. AKA nowhere and forgotten.

16 people truely understand Rudy

Mr. Batsquatch

I went with the option closest to meh.

Stanislaw Kansiewicz

It’s my favorite anime but I’m going to only stick with and go all in on FAB.

haha....booster BOXES of course.....

Rudy The Magic Guy

Where is the, "I'm only here SCAMS, I'm out!"

7he7ru7h

I cant blame you for this....smart move.

Rudy The Magic Guy

I’d buy in Taco master if you like the game. If you open a box and don’t like it. I won’t buy it thought either.

Anthony Paramo

probably half and half

Rudy The Magic Guy

MHA has its own storyline and anime/manga. I do not believe they have plans like weiss to do other brands

Rudy The Magic Guy

As a Manga/Anime head I'm not sure if a TCG is gonna last on a series that ISN'T TCG based

Strawhat

I been enjoying the game!

mario telles anzurez

Im all in on fab, but i could sit on this for a flip. There's a small group of mha players at my lgs.

sorcery Kickstarter has slip till jan 2022 at the earliest.

michael j

intersting feedback. I know how Jascko is under new ownership this year

Rudy The Magic Guy

Same here. I only have so much money for my CCG addiction each month. I don’t need another game competing for my budget.

You should remove yourself as a Patreon then...

Big fan of the anime, but is that a set of Universus or is My hero Academia its own card game? Like Weiss does anime, is Universus the same thing? Sorry if my question doesnt make sense.

Im a little confused, will this be for the 1st edition booster boxes or the next set????

I abstain. I literally play warhammer now and haven't touched a ccg in over a year. Love all you do rudy, looking forward to the 40k set.

Picture of last product/style?

Robert Sutphin

With respect to new games with a Japanese IP - what are your thoughts on Wixoss? Seems like a very dedicated fan base and a good game system

Larry Johnson

nope....showing up when your not home to help your mom with the washer/dryer

Rudy The Magic Guy

Rudy's next pump and dump, for that reason, I am out

Liwen Li

half 1st edition booster boxes + half unlimited boxes

Rudy The Magic Guy

no comment

Rudy The Magic Guy

Didn't already warn us about how this reminds him of a time when there were too many CCGs and most of them died?

Robert Goldthorpe

Sorry Rudy. Im bullish on vintage MTG now more than ever. Prices are stabalizing and im grabing everything NM that I can. Im sure you understand.

3-4 boosters or booster boxes?

Eric D

I'd also be interested in something like 2 boxes of the first set and 2/3 of the following release in a set

Gary clark

Rudy, should we vote on multiples? Might skew your data

Robert Sutphin

My mind is telling me no but my bodyyyy (Rudy voice in my head starts chanting about regret about missed opportunity)

Omar El Mossalamy

But seriously, who puts tomatoes in tacos? If I wanted to eat a vegetable I would have stuck with pizza.

Alexander Brown

Booster boxes for 1st edition are still cheap Stock was around 36k

I got in to the first release for hella cheap, it's a monster IP already, and combined w Universus (sp) I think it's gonna work. 8 boxes, 6 cracked for singles and 2 held... singles are all but gone.

MHA is a massive IP. Excited to revive UFS here…

Akora and Nostalgix get them on deck for 2022 and Whenever sorcery IPOS

I want to hit the last one, but only as a joke. Fear has kept me back lol

Fabien

but you ditched Final Fantasy! I cant imagine this player base is any higher. I guess kits are cool though.

Nephew plays, so maybe.... Should look into Sorcery: contested realms. That'd be a firm yes from me.

Eli

MHA is big with alotta ppl. Its a shonen and is big with younger gens. Id say it could be a good pick if marketed out to the right ppl.

Steven

If George from compete sports is in …. I’m in 👍

Lol! You know my metazoo background Aaron?

Paul Tufis

Jasco has a history of not doing anything that catches on with killer IPs. Street fighter, mega man, soul caliber, cowboy bebop, etc. I’d want to hear more about what they’re doing different.

I honestly don’t know how to answer the survey. That’s my answer @rudy

Allen Le

Wait, you guys still have money left to spend!?

Chris B

I thought about trying this out but there’s just too much for me at the moment. But I could be persuaded. Though I’d like to get product from the the launch set and not jump in just on the second set. If it was possible to get product from both sets from you I’d be more willing to take the plunge.

I’m not even investing into new Magic anymore.

Natalie Fortune

Context for my vote, in case it’s valuable. I just got into magic 2 years ago (almost) and I just don’t know enough past magic to take the risk on random games. Not to mention I’m diverse in other investments from crypto, stocks, housing, startups, etc. MTG is my heroin, I enjoy playing it all the time and you’ve brought me to the dark side of sealed product.

Robert Lewis

I saw this on tcg and was interested. Not sure if it's the same company but this is a franchise that could do well as a tcg. To the moon

Julian Quinonez

As Rudy says the risk to be not invoked or apart of it at this point would be worse then avoiding it this anime is huge for my brothers age group and could have cataclysmic events in the future I think it would be fun to be apart of it

Kamen

Yes! And add Akora!!

Robert Kline

I’m only here for magic… I’m out.

Ryan Maddux

I love my hero academia. If you haven’t watched it Rudy you should give the series a watch, it’s really good and has 5 seasons and 3 movies!

Sure why not, I'll try anything twice.

Yes. I need more Rudy playmats so I can finish decorating my bedroom ceiling.

Curious to see how this turns out but I'll be sticking to metazoo, fab, and mtg

Julian Tavares

Looks like we’re playing another game… I think Rudy should do us a solid this time around and whoever buys in at the beginning is locked into that 400 dollar price point, no Monarch or Nightfall shenanigans!

Drew

Any guesses on Rudy’s quirk? Probably taking my mom out for Taco’s every Tuesday.

John

So who wanted to hit the last one just cause... or is it just me?

Tony

Ughhh I want to, but with magic, fab, and metazoo I just don't have the money or storage for even the three games I collect now. Maybe buy the first set to have something, but definitely not long term.

Chase

^ If he's in, I'm in

Rudy though. You do fab, metazoo, now MHA? Is there no limit on your partnership? Because I know sorcery and Akora interest you as well.

Paul Tufis

I’d need to see the gameplay before I fully decide my vote

Mitchel Nall

Spread too thin rn, wouldn't pick up.

Geoff Toohey

Yeeeaaaah....no

Let me know when you pickup D-Spirits

Brian Tadros

I wouldn't be so trigger happy on this, series is nearing its end and they are cashgrabbing the hell out of it.

You know how reckless your patrons are right? Haha brings us the goods please!!

Navin Michael Singh

Will this kit only have the second set booster boxes?

michael j

Just here to see who votes for the scam

Joel Draper

Is it going to be a Rudy promo card or regular mha character promo card?

Lmao love the choices 😂

Peter Hauge

Fun fact, they were founded in my town!!

It's 2021 I'll throw my money at anything. But 2022 might be a different story

Perfect options for the pole. Big MHA anime fan

eric jernigan

I'm in, why not?

Cody Urdiales

Could not get any of the first set. Print run did not match demand. Love to see this

I’m a huge MHA fan and have no issues getting this product at MSRP. I was not interested at all until you said exclusive promo and playmat…

Dr. Applesauce

Yeah this game is mad fun, y’all should try it

I’ll buy one for sure.

Ozzy B.

Ill throw my money at anything….. as long as the ends justify the means :)

I didn’t even read it before I voted…

F it YOLO

Carl

Duh Do it
