Masters isn't standard anyway, so VIP packs is totally plausible. So is commander legends. They aren't going to use an ancillary slot in a standard product for something that valuable either.

Still doubtful, since Fetchlands are not going back into standard play either it doesn't make any sense to put them as a rare land slot, anything not in the set has been an additional slot like commander in Ikoria.

MaRo has little to do with the ultimate power-level of cards and even entire mechanics. His team is much further upstream in the process. Companion, for example, had plenty of time for power-level adjustments, including raising the mana costs of each Companion and/or adding additional costs, such as the post-release errata “fix”. That being said, on his podcast, MaRo has recently talked (again) about a new type of mana that could work with different colors to accomplish something very unique. Negative mana could be that thing… and, yes, the idea does sound like something that he would enjoy.

People are missing the fact that they can still put fetch lands in the VIP boxes without it being a part of standard. It would go in the equivalent slot that the Commander 2020 cards were in for Ikoria and would only need to use the shooting star set logo or something else so they are not technically part of that respective standard set.

It may not be in the double master “set” but they may slot it in the VIP packs as a “Special Card” not using the double masters symbol like they did with Ikoria collectors and the Commander 2020 slot. I am not saying this is the case but seems to be possible.

Everyone is wrong. The fetchlands are going to be in commander Legends. It's the dark horse that most people are ignoring, because they are too focused with what is immediately in front of them (JumpStart and Double Masters). It won't be in Zendikar because WoTC already said they'd never put fetches in standard boxes again.

Negative mana has MaRo's stain marks written all over it. After Ikoria companions, they aren't going to stop with testing power creep. Can always ban cards. Quite the motto that goes on at WotC.

My take of Negative Mana, a spell transfers your Mana pool to the next turn or so many turns based off life lost. Or in that ball park.

Yeah I went ahead and grabbed 2x VIP packs while they were still $100. Even if there really are no fetches, there has to be a reason why they are already that expensive. And if they turn out to be meh, oh well, only out $200.

r/mtgfinance someone posted that from a previously reliable source on IKO spoilers that they said the enemy fetches would be in Zendikar collectors. To me, this makes the most sense as Zendikar has a land based theme and it would be a very good way to push the collectors packs similar to Godzilla cards in IKO.

yeah I can't see it in Zendikar, since they don't want it in standard play. Commander Legends, is possible. Unless we have some out of nowhere Modern Horizons 2 which all but inevidible someday.

Fetch lands in VIP would make me trade my preorder in for 1 VIP pack for a box at-least. I was planning to put a toe in this Very-important-people with money water since they knocked it out of the park with Ikoria CEs. To call this product double masters this has to be way better than ultimate and iconic by a long shot.

If WOTC doesn't put the fetch lands in the VIP edition I'm not sure which product they'll be put in...unless there is an unannounced set they are going to release before the end of the year.

Makes sense that VIP would have that. You’re looking at $300 for a regular DM box with at least 48 rares and mythics (plus foils and box toppers rares) and the VIP if it has the same cards are $400 for 16 rares/mythics. I cant see that much of a premium of showcase/ full art of the same rares to charge an extra $100 for 32 less rares/mythics.

One of the owners of the LGS in my town told me the same thing about fetch lands in VIP boxes! I’m not sure if I believe him but it’s interesting to hear it from someone else as well.

Shadowlands has a sort of negative mana, You can "burn out" a resource for one turn to get a more powerful effect from some spells, like exert, but for mana.

If the VIP double masters holds fetchlands, all bets are off
