The foil full/extended art rares and mythics are considered box toppers as they are a part of the same card pool as the box topper packs. Hope this helps!

Can someone help an old school Magic player out? Sometimes Rudy refers to cards as “box toppers” - now, I understand the special card included in a booster box is a box topper (literally). But sometimes in box openings there are others referred to as “box toppers”. Are these foil full-art/alt-art rares/mythics? Can someone explain? Thnx!

I'm guessing once Amazon puts that listing back up again for sale, prices will drop. I just don't know why Amazon stopped taking pre-orders? Is it because it's a limited print run? I thought WOTC do print to demand?

plus side it seems like stores are willing to put this product under 300. it all sells out but gives some hope for a range on pricing under 300.

A world without the fetch is no world for me. The taco flops forevermore.

Its just 2 rare/mythic rare slots instead of 1 like usual boosters and they added 2 foils to each pack which can be any rarity

but is the RATE the same? if they double the ammount of rares but 1/2 the rate of mythics its the same ammount of mythics per box

You can get 4 mythics in a pack, because the two rares/mythics can be mythics and the 2 foils can be mythics. Also 2 box toppers in the box too. They doubled everything literally.

did they mention if, because oyu get double the rares, you get double the mythics? if you average 2-3 mythics in a normal masters box, will you end up getting 4-6?

Good outlook Kyle. I for one am hoping one day Wizards just starts reprinting everything and grinds the secondary market to a halt. At least for a year or so. And it's not because I want people who have invested to lose their money, but I'd love to see this game get back to what it should be. A game enjoyed by all and accessible to all. In it's current state it's not. Hell I'd lose a ton of money if it happened but my love for the game far outweighs my want for my collection to raise in value.

Double Masters is a disgusting example of what this game has become. It. A. GAME. Not some foreign currency. Wizards just alienated a vast majority of its playerbase with this BS. Players everywhere are gonna see that 16 to 20 a pack and just stop playing. This was a game for teens with 10 bucks in their pocket, not for the guy on wall street driving a jag. Before I get piled on I can afford these prices but doesnt mean I agree with them nor will I be buying them. I'd rather play with my group, who cant afford this, and let them use their proxies. Which I do.

Rudy, Amazon has these listed for $16 PER PACK, $300 a box and that’s not even the VIP packs which are $40 each. Is this going to be where this product starts or am I missing something?

This would be an interesting take, but it's already confirmed to be a 24 pack booster, each pack containing 2 foils and 2 rares. The cardboard will always cost WOTC the same to print, they're just going to balance the value with what gets reprinted. And hell, it may just be incredible value like the mystery booster - doesn't really make a difference because prices have been going high for a while now regardless so they're not hurting anything.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the style for double masters makes sense . This is speculation but I could definitely see it, 12 packs per box similar to how all the collectors boxes have been. That's why its 2 rares and 2 foils, so you feel like you're getting a deal, but in reality its the same product as the old masters. You are just getting less of the "commons and uncommons" because people only care about rares, mythics, and foils. And then they will still charge the same Masters/Collectors price.

can't imagine stores doing huge box opens to flood the market with these cards simply due to cost alone

just like how prices dropped after every other masters set. remember this is a premium product so box prices aren't 90 dollars. so it bring more cards to the market but at the same time its going to cost a lot to open a booster box or pack

I want to like Double Masters, but it's hard to be sold just yet - I'm still holding my taco. It really just feels like a mashup of all the other Masters products. Other than Blightsteel Colossus, each of the Wizards-confirmed cards has been already reprinted at least once in the last five years. Sure their price points are currently high, but they're sort of old news. Most of the unverified cards Rudy lists have also been reprinted at least once in the last five years. I'd really like to see a nice land cycle and some fresh reprints here, but the fetchlands are off the table for this one, sadly.

This year has been all about the reprint. At the beginning of the year, with all the products that were available or announced at that time (i.e. Mystery boosters, Commander Legends, and Jump Start) and factoring in how many reprints are in a regular set and a Core set as well as the Secret Lairs they are flooding the market with.... I'm thinking they are reprinting close to 20% of their entire catalogue of cards this year alone. This is a pretty loose estimate but it has to be relatively close.
