if you want to be on the safe side, use special bodypainting paint (like from kryolan) or use childrens finger paint. Paint should NOT have toxics inside and you should always be sure you can wash them off (try them out on hand and let it dry for hours, then wash it off and see how easy it is). Also never touch eyes or tongue with paint, do not eat it or put it in any hole of your body ;-)
