OP Sister Chapter 540: Treasure

-----

The treasure before Anna’s Myriad Self Eyes was none other than a fragment of Kronos’ own heart.

Kronos, a formidable Primordial Titan, belonged to a faction of beings that directly opposed Olympus and its leader. As the embodiment of this titan’s myths, he sought to devour Zeus, as he had in legend, to seize his powers.

Their conflict reached its resolution many years later during the Titanomachy, a colossal event where Titans and Gods clashed for supremacy. Primarily a war among Constellations, the Scenario also involved Mortals ascending to power, who were drawn into the fray.

Incarnations, Apostles, and others were compelled to participate.

The Titanomachy unfolded in a realm known as the Radiant Myth Realm, one of dozens of middle realms bridging the lower and higher dimensions. This realm was where Anna’s brother had ventured to grow stronger after escaping Earth, aiming to ascend to the Great Beyond’s higher echelons.

Or so she recalled, thanks to her [Reader] Trait.

For some reason, her Traits functioned perfectly, while her skills remained glitchy and unstable.

“So you’re offering this to me, your majesty?” Anna asked Gilgamesh, striving to appear as humble as possible. “As a Material? Perhaps with this item, I could open a portal to the Timeline I came from!”

“Kronos was a mighty titan of time,” Gilgamesh replied. “He wielded immense power over time, capable of regressing, accelerating, and halting it entirely. This made him exceptionally difficult to defeat. Olympus required the aid of many unrelated Constellations to vanquish him, myself included! I, Ishtar, Enkidu, and numerous Mesopotamian gods joined forces with Olympus to slay Kronos and his Titans. As compensation for my aid, I claimed half of his crystallized heart! Haha! That scoundrel Zeus dared to protest against this king, but I swiftly put him in his place and walked off with my prize.”

“Y-You beat Zeus?!” Anna asked incredulously.

“...?” Gilgamesh raised an eyebrow. “Why do you act surprised? Do you think I was weaker than him? Hah! My myth predates him by ages! Do you truly believe I would be inferior to that kid?”

“Kid…?” Anna muttered, realizing just how ancient Gilgamesh truly was.

The Epic of Gilgamesh predates all other known epics. Moreover, Gilgamesh’s existence blended mythic and historical roots, granting him exceptional power among Constellations. His dual nature—rooted in both history and myth—elevated him above purely mythical figures, whose existence relied solely on fiction.

Events grounded in reality held more weight than fiction and mythology. Thus, Constellations like Gilgamesh, rare for their historical and mythical duality, possessed immense power.

“Isn’t he a kid?” Gilgamesh laughed heartily. “He’s… very young, isn’t he? Ah, well, he’s no longer around, unfortunately.”

“Hm…” Anna nodded quietly, then met Gilgamesh’s golden eyes. “Excuse me, your majesty?”

“Ask away,” he said with a charming smile.

“How… how did Olympus… die?” Anna asked.

“…”

Gilgamesh fell silent for a moment, sighing.

He paced the treasury, then grasped the crystal with his golden hand, examining it.

Anna felt a chill down her spine.

Had she asked something too sensitive?

“I definitely did! Damn it! Me and my stupid big mouth!”

As Anna wished she could turn back time, Gilgamesh glanced at her.

He appeared thoughtful.

“Well, like everyone else, child,” he said, approaching her with the floating crystal. “Fighting that rampaging madman. The Olympians were my allies, so… I naturally feel a bit… well, annoyed when I recall their loss, tsk.”

He clicked his tongue, masking the softness in his eyes.

But Anna knew he bore great pain from the loss of so many.

Yet he maintained his bold personality and attitude regardless.

“Now, this king has no need to dwell on depressing matters, not when someone like you has entered my life!” Gilgamesh said, gently taking Anna’s hand. “Anna, will you become my Apostle?”

“Apostle? Not Incarnation?” Anna asked.

The distinctions between Apostles and Incarnations were subtle, often leading to confusion between the two titles.

However, they were distinct.

Apostles spread the word and myths of their Constellations, acting as religious figures.

Incarnations, conversely, were direct representatives, expanding their Constellations’ myths through heroic feats.

“So, do you want me to spread the word about Mesopotamia? Isn’t that a bit odd?” Anna sighed, second guessing her earlier enthusiasm.

“No,” Gilgamesh replied. “Your actions and achievements will suffice. If you become my Apostle, there’s no risk of me attempting to possess your soul, right?”

“I… well, yes,” Anna nodded. “But I trust you, your majesty…”

Anna hesitated to admit it, but Gilgamesh’s striking handsomeness made her blush as he leaned closer.

Gilgamesh smiled softly, caressing her face.

“You’re too kind and too trusting… Foolish girl, what if I wanted you all to myself? You couldn’t even fight back,” he said, kissing her forehead. “But this king is not such scum, so I bless you as my Apostle.”

FLASH!

“Ah!”

Anna gasped as Gilgamesh’s light enveloped her body and soul.

She let out a sharp gasp, her eyes rolling back as countless tales and images flooded her mind.

They were the myths and legends of Mesopotamia, including the Epic of Gilgamesh.

She glimpsed many gods, including Enkidu, his greatest friend, a handsome green-haired man with yellow eyes, born from the earth.

“Ugh…!” Anna groaned.

“Get a grip. That was the minimal amount of Story I could share,” Gilgamesh said. “Stand up now and—Ahhh!”

Gilgamesh gasped as Anna vomited across his pile of gold.

“I-I’m sorry…! Ugh…! Eugh…”

Seeing Anna in distress, Gilgamesh’s anger subsided. He sighed, gently patting her back and easing her nausea.

With a swipe of his aura, the vomit vanished, disintegrated entirely.

“Now, are you feeling better? This king is generous to his Apostle, so I’ll forgive you just this once.”

“I’m sorry… thank you…”

“Hmph… What am I to do with you?”

Gilgamesh shook his head, patting her head with a warm smile.

“You’ve endured much, hm?”

“Eh? Well… yeah.”

“I can tell…”

Anna was surprised by his genuine kindness, a side rarely shown in the novel.

His compassion was expressed through actions rather than words, often masked by arrogance and selfishness.

He also shared a fierce rivalry with her brother. They despised each other yet fought side by side and shared drinks.

Her brother’s betrayal must have wounded Gilgamesh deeply, she realized.

“Uuh, so that’s mine now, right? Heheh…” Anna giggled, eyeing the floating crystal with greedy, almost drooling eyes.

“Yes! But do you wish to use such an artifact as a mere material? Don’t be foolish!” Gilgamesh said. “Only through a Dao Root Bonding Ritual can you unlock its true power!”

“W-What? But…!” Anna hesitated apprehensively. “Wouldn’t it be better to use it as a material for some kind of Formation? I’ve been thinking about them a lot, but I lack proper knowledge… Your majesty, do you have books on Formations or the like?”

“I do, in my treasury,” Gilgamesh replied. “But that’s for later. Though you’re not wrong about using this item as a core, I cannot accept it! This is an invaluable treasure! I want you to keep it with you as a reminder of your great king!”

“A-Ahahah, okay,” Anna giggled, finding Gilgamesh’s personality endearing in its own right. “But if I do that, can I use it to go back?”

“This is the greatest treasure of time,” Gilgamesh said. “It can serve as a temporary core for the formation while remaining within your Dao Root.”

“Ooh!” Anna nodded, grasping his meaning. “That’s clever! I hadn’t considered that…”

“Of course you hadn’t, my foolish Apostle,” Gilgamesh laughed heartily. “Now, this magnanimous king shall help you refine it into your Nathal Dao Treasure!”

“Is that possible?!” Anna asked. “My Rank is only 2… I’m not even a Constellation, barely close…”

“Rank 2 is truly dismal,” Gilgamesh nodded. “How are you not at least Rank 10?”

“Ahh, Rank 10?! Isn’t that your Rank, your majesty?” Anna asked.

“Hahahaha!” Gilgamesh laughed. “Indeed it is! This great king has a storied history and a grand epic! By the way, are you familiar with Constellation Ranks?”

“Hmm, I recall a bit, but…” Anna rubbed her chin. “Would you mind refreshing my memory, your majesty?”

Truthfully, Anna knew little about Constellation Ranks.

The novel rarely delved into specifics.

Her brother simply leveled up, advancing through classes, skills, and other vague metrics.

Thus, when his Rank was mentioned, it remained frustratingly ambiguous.

“Very well, for my foolish disciple, this magnanimous king shall explain the ranks,” Gilgamesh said, settling onto a golden throne and snapping his fingers to conjure a small star of gold. “You begin weaving your story once you impact the plane of fate and alter many lives. You’re not Rank 1 but 2, so you’ve surpassed the initial stage.”

Gilgamesh detailed the Ranks one by one.

Rank 1 was named Novice Star.

“Novice Stars are mere specks of stardust in the vast universe. Your story is recognized but so small and insignificant it might as well not exist.”

Rank 2 was named Dwarf Star.

“Your story is finally taking shape. Though still pathetically small, it holds meaning and involves others. Your star is large enough to be recognized, albeit a tiny one.”

As Gilgamesh explained each Rank beyond Rank 2, Anna took mental notes, committing every detail to memory.

Rank 1: Novice Star: A newborn spark of potential, barely visible in the mythic firmament.

Rank 2: Dwarf Star: Small but dense, early stories forming under pressure, awaiting ignition.

Rank 3: Kindling Nova: The first burst of narrative energy, drawing attention across the astral plane.

Rank 4: Radiant Giant: Expanding influence, with tales growing in scale and emotional weight.

Rank 5: Mythic Pulsar: Rhythmic storytelling, each pulse a tale resonating across realms.

Rank 6: Celestial Weaver: Begins interlacing stories with others, forming mythic networks.

Rank 7: Stellar Oracle: Stories gain prophetic weight, shaping destinies and cosmic truths.

Rank 8: Constellation Proper: A fully formed mythic identity, recognized across cultures and epochs.

Rank 9: Galactic Paragon: Stories span galaxies, influencing civilizations and pantheons.

Rank 10: Ecliptic Sovereign: Commands narrative gravity, with other myths orbiting its influence.

Rank 11: Transcendent Mythos: Beyond constellation—an archetype, a cosmic law, a living legend.

Anna also learned that every Rank from Rank 3 onward granted unique powers and abilities to Constellations.

At Rank 3, she would gain something called “Flash of Recognition.”

“I see, so my next Rank is Kindling Nova! It’s so nice to finally understand these things…!” Anna said happily. “But, um, your majesty, has anyone ever reached Rank 11?”

“I know of only three,” Gilgamesh replied. “The Transcendent Mythos are rare and distant. Naming them could overwhelm you… so I’ll use their titles alone: Heavenly Father, Queen of Chaos, Netherworld Emperor.”

“They sound like Void Rulers?” Anna asked. “Aside from the Heavenly Father…”

“They are not Void Rulers! Void Rulers are aberrations!” Gilgamesh declared. “They are monstrosities born from decaying reality. This is why I always warned that fool not to consume Void Rulers… He would eventually become twisted like them!”

“Huh?” Anna frowned, confused. “Is he referring to Jack?”

“Haaa… Enough talk. Let’s begin,” Gilgamesh said. “With my assistance, you’ll ascend to Rank 3 instantly once you refine this treasure, imbued with Kronos’ Myth, into your Dao Root, making that fragment your Story. So let’s start now!”
