“BURN! BURN!!!”
“VLAD!”
“NO!”
Ermelinda and Gofumina rushed to help, but the flames scorched their bodies. No armor or barriers could protect them as they tried to reach Vlad. They risked dying and turning to ashes before they could save him.
“Uuuggh! Uuaaaaggghh!”
Vlad agonized, realizing that despite being a game, the pain of burning felt all too real! This was definitely terrible game design, one that made his very being wanting to log out and abandon this damned game.
However, he couldn’t. The flames were so intense that his melting armor seared his skin, his regeneration the only thing keeping him barely alive.
His Skills and Magic couldn’t deal enough damage; the flames’ intensity was so overwhelming that everything burned or vanished. His sword melted into a pool of molten metal, and he felt like he could no longer breathe.
“HAHAHAHA! BURN! BURN! BURN! EMBRACE THE FLAMES AND BECOME ONE WITH THEM! JOIN ME AS WE ASCEND TOGETHER INTO ETERNAL HARMONY!”
“Don’t you dare touch my son!”
With a mighty roar, however, the Unending Crimson’s laughter was interrupted. An immensely powerful wave of frost slammed into his flames, melting but rapidly releasing more cold air, beginning to reduce the flames’ intensity and giving Vlad a chance to regain consciousness, barely.
“That’s…!”
He looked into the distance and saw Teressa sitting atop Argentia’s body, with Chris right by her side. Her freezing powers encased Argentia in an armor of ice as the giant dragon charged into the infernal flames, smashing the crystal monster into the ground and sending it flying.
CRAAASH!
At the same time, Chris rushed down, healing Vlad from his agonizing injuries. It was a miracle he had survived this long to begin with.
Chris quickly removed Vlad’s helmet and began healing him, realizing his face looked horrific—burned so severely that red flesh and bone were visible beneath his skin, his eyes boiled away, leaving empty sockets.
“Paul! Paul, are you okay?!”
“Do I look okay to you?”
“No, you don’t—hahah…! S-Sorry!”
“I need blood… Healing alone won ’t… do.”
“Blood?”
Chris grabbed a knife, slicing his palm and pouring his blood into Vlad’s mouth, letting him drink the blood of a hybrid between the Fairy King and a Succubus.
BA DUM!
BA DUM!
BA DUM!
“Ugh?!”
Vlad felt his heart beat suddenly, energy coursing through his entire body. The more blood he drank, the stronger he felt! His Immortal Body Skill kicked in at full power, and Chris watched in awe as Vlad’s flesh regenerated instantly—muscles, tendons, skin, and even his hair regrew.
“Paul!”
“That was amazing, Chris. Your blood is like an Elixir! Can I have more?”
“E-Eh? Wait, no!”
Chris blushed as he saw Paul trying to bite his neck, pushing him back.
This snapped the vampire prince back to reality; the feeling of thirst had momentarily overtaken him.
“Sorry… I don’t know why… I did that.”
“It’s fine, you’re a vampire and shit. Just… your armor! How are you even going to fight now?”
“I can fix it.”
Vlad touched his armor with his hand and pulled several materials from his inventory, including the blazing crystals of the monster that had nearly killed him.
“{Grand Geomancy}: {Reforging Synthesis}!”
FLAAASH!
The materials merged rapidly, and his melted armor transformed, reshaping to Vlad’s imagination into a sharper, demonic-looking armor of red and gold, adorned with crimson crystals blazing with purple and black flames.
Through the synthesis, Chris imbued his own blood to see if it could enhance the armor, and it did. The armor shone brightly, gaining a golden glow, purple decorations, and bat-like wings made of steel behind it.
“What the hell?! That’s amazing!”
As Chris gasped in disbelief, he saw Vlad stand again, his armor shaping like liquid metal around his body. Suddenly, it transformed into a skimpy armor, more like metallic lingerie.
“What the hell?! You gave me your armor—hey, what’s with this design?!”
“Sorry, I just thought about giving you armor… It kind of moved on its own.”
“I mean, I do like it a bit, but—aaah, whatever! We have to hurry!”
“Right!”
With his new armor, Vlad spread his blazing metallic bat wings, rushing into the skies with Alitheus by his side. His sword had been destroyed, but he reforged a new one from its materials, even larger, blazing with red and blue metal and crystals.
RUMBLE!
At the same time, the battle between the Raid Boss, the Unending Crimson, and Teressa continued. Ermelinda and Gofumina had joined them, with Ermelinda doing her best to heal them, though her healing abilities were far weaker than Alitheus’.
Although it seemed effective at first, Argentia was growing exhausted. The frost covering his body wasn’t a true evolution like he could achieve with Alitheus’ powers—just a cold armor to offset the flames—but it wasn’t working well as the ice constantly melted.
“IT’S FUTILE! IN THE END, MY FLAMES SHALL CONSUME ALL!”
The Unending Crimson laughed as his Domain expanded. Countless arms and hands made of blazing crystals erupted from the ground, attacking everyone before him and sending them flying, burning.
“S-Such a powerful being! It’s the same thing that attacked Elderbridge some time ago!” Teressa said, standing and groaning in pain. “Is my son alright?! Is he…? Ah!”
Her eyes widened as she saw Alitheus and Vlad flying through the skies, descending to their side. They quickly healed them again, and Alitheus ran toward Argentia, covering his body with healing magic and… a spirit.
“My priestess… you’ve come to heal me again—huh?! What is this thing?!”
Argentia panicked as he saw a monstrous, black-colored spirit spreading through his body like goo, wrapping around his arms and legs and trying to take over.
“This is my Contracted Spirit, a Frenzied Dark Spirit, Argentia! It might look malevolent, but it has immense power. Let him possess you so you can have a fighting chance!”
“D-Damn it!”
Argentia roared as his body transformed. His scales turned pitch black with red streaks, his horns grew longer and demonic, and his eyes became crimson red. His entire aura released shadows everywhere.
“ROOOAAARRR!”
He nearly lost his mind but barely stopped himself from attacking Alitheus. He charged against the blazing avatar of the Unending Crimson, preventing it from reaching the rest of the group.
