Just wanted to let everyone know that 29.1 is out as well as a minor hotfix (29.1.1) to clear up a couple bugs we noticed on release.
If you didn't notice that 29.1 is out yet and you haven't had any update notices in the program, that's because we now have a rollout system (at least on Windows) to minimize the impact of any potential release bugs. I've been pretty happy with it and it certainly makes releases much less stressful for everyone. We started with around 1...

It's time again for a new update, OBS Studio version 29! Here's what we've been up to:
AMD and Intel AV1 Support
In version 28.1, we added AV1 support for the new 40 series NVIDIA cards. With version 29, we've added AV1 support for the new AMD RX7000 series and Intel Arc video cards as well. This completes OBS Studio's support for hardware AV1 encoding support, at least on Window...

OBS Studio 28.1 is out! This minor update is centered primarily on NVENC, and features their new AV1 encoder as well as a general NVENC update to support the newer presets and features.
It's been no secret I've been pushing AV1. A few updates ago, I implemented the AOM and SVT software AV1 encoders as a proof of concept to ensure that OBS is future-proof for AV1. Realistically however, the AV1 software encoders require a large number of CPU cores to be able to use them in real time, so ...

OBS 28.0 is now in beta and available for testing! A huge number of things have happened since our previous version:
HDR and 10bit support
Thanks to a monumental collaboration between contributor rcdrone, YouTube, and Luxoft, OBS now supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 10bit capturing and encoding! HDR and 10bit support required a fair amount of work to our rendering backend and updates t...

We just released 27.2.2 and 27.2.3, which fixes that nasty little preview freeze and stream disconnect, as well as a virtual camera issue on Windows. Let's briefly go into what the heck happened here, because quite frankly, I need to talk about this to somebody.
27.2.1 wasn't quite the end of the issues for 27.2. I'd solved that nasty issue where the entire computer would just freeze up by making a workaround to whatever driver or operating bug was occurring; but apparently that wasn't ...

That was a crazy week. Let’s talk about what happened with 27.2 and what we happened this past week.
With the Windows version of 27.2, we updated all of our dependencies. A dependency is a library made from external source code; something which is not OBS source code, but that OBS depends upon for major functionality and features. Sometimes this can be a feature such as software H.264 encoding, which relies on the x264 encoder library, or a feature such as the browser source, which re...

27.2 is finally out (or more accurately, 27.2.1). What a crazy week. It was quite the adventure, involving likely driver bugs causing full system freezes, which we had to work around ourselves. With 27.2.1, those issues are now solved.
Within the next day or so I'm going to make a blog post on exactly what happened with 27.2, why we had to pull the release, and what we had to do to get 27.2.1 out today. In either case, it's now out for real this time! I hope you all enjoy it and are abl...

Version 27.1 is currently in testing! It's a minor update so it doesn't have too many features, changes, or fixes, but here are some of the most notable:
YouTube Streaming Integration
You can now connect and configure your YouTube account directly from within OBS without needing your stream key. When starting your stream, you can set your stream title, description, privacy settings, and other details. Also adds a YouTube chat dock pane (currently read-only). This was made in coo...

Well after about seven weeks of testing, version 27.0 has finally been released. I usually really stress out every time we do a major release, but this time I was pretty surprised that I felt much less stressed out. I have to admit I was pretty concerned about potential issues, especially considering the fact that we basically changed the internal color format for almost all of the textures in the entire program. Another thing that I was concerned about was the Undo/Redo feature, which had a ...

26.1 is good to go! Although it's technically a minor patch, I'd still consider it a fairly big update:
- We added the virtual camera to both Linux and macOS
- We added the VOD audio track feature for Twitch at their request and with their assistance which adds options for separate audio mixing and encoding for your VOD
- We've updated almost all of our dependencies on Windows
- And a bunch of other small features and tweaks

Guess what we've got today? We've got a new update. It's got Vulkan capture *just* in time for Doom Eternal. It's got a new window capture that can capture those pesky browser windows, Discord, Microsoft store apps, even Micorsoft Office and stuff, and we've got a whole bunch more. You know what makes this the best though? All of you. I love you all so much.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know we've starting testing the next release: OBS Studio 25.0 Release Candidate 1! We've got a whole bunch of features and if anyone would like to try it out, we'd be grateful (although if you've got a mission-critical stream, wait until testing has been completed, or at least just make sure to back up your settings before testing).
We've implemented Vulkan support for games captured with game capture, the ability to capture browsers, brows...

Version 24 has been released, and strangely, some of the hardest parts of the patch wasn't even so much our own code: it was dealing with dependencies, namely Chromium. Read about it here in the blog post, detailing what went in to this version, what's been going on with us, and what's going on in the future. A lot of crazy things going on.
Also, hope to meet some of you at TwitchCon! We're going to have a booth this time around, so if you're going, make sure to come v...

That's not all we're doing though, we're going to have some interesting surprises as...

- The ability to control browser source audio volume with the audio mixer, as well as apply audio filters, and output audio to stream only rather than desktop audio...
