The Heavenly Martial Empress Returns Chapter 310: Tower Guardian

-----

Moving so many people to the Second Floor wasn’t easy. The first time we appeared in front of the tower, the Saurians were amazed, glancing around in disbelief. Thankfully, it was quite late, so there weren’t that many Players around, but it was still rather shocking for those who were here that suddenly over a hundred Saurians popped up out of nowhere. They saw them as another magic race coming from the tower.

Though this time, it was the complete opposite! They were a non-magic species that came from another timeline of Earth, so technically they’re Earthlings just like us, right? And yet, they would only be seen as a species from the tower, unfortunately…

[Please stop. Large-scale access to the Tower is prohibited for groups of non-awakened. Each regular must first go through an Awakening Trial to become a Player and gain access to the Tower.]

“Huh? That’s so damn annoying. Can’t you let us just go through?”

As we tried to access the tower with them all, we stopped, however. It seemed that each Saurian would have to go through a Tower Registration first by completing their own Tutorial and awakening as a Player.

“Are there no other options? Making them go through an individual trial would be troublesome…” Yanisse said by my side.

“I’ve never gone through one myself. Is this tower saying we need to overcome a challenge to gain the right to enter?” asked Bloodclaw.

“Yeah, but if you’re born inside the Tower, it’s much easier to move around it…” I nodded. “I guess it’s time for me to force my way through… Let’s first try the first option: Teleportation.”

“How?” Peperina asked.

“I happen to have the power to leave little Formations in each place I want to quickly teleport to,” I explained. “Learning the Space Dao and the Void Dao has really helped me move much faster and invent all sorts of ways to facilitate my life, after all.”

Formations had been placed, so I quickly whisked my fingers, manifesting one beneath everyone just as easily as my daughter Athena can do. I’ve learned from her special techniques as well and then decided to forcefully teleport everyone inside the Tower.

FLAAASH!

And then, we appeared right there, in the open, clear grasslands, close to the large camp where all the tribes gathered, but not too close. I didn’t really want to bother them with their daily lives. Fiery Hair’s people, the cavemen, might be there, perhaps, although I believe they also moved to their own territory.

“Oooh, it worked!” Bloodclaw said.

“Incredible, was that teleportation?!” Redeye asked. “I suppose we didn’t experience it before because we entered that magical world you control…”

“Indeed, it was Teleportation,” I nodded. “Yanisse here helped me a little.”

“Eh? I did?” she asked.

“Your presence here can boost my ability over the Void and Space high enough to do this mass teleportation with more ease,” I said.

“I didn’t know that my sole presence could do that, but I’m glad I could help? Heh,” Yanisse smiled cutely as she looked around. “Alright, so where do we go? Looks like it worked just fine in the end!”

“Yeah,” Peperina nodded. “Well, I’m glad nothing happened—”

TRUUUM!

Suddenly, the sky trembled and darkened above us. It wasn’t any god descending, though, or anything like that. It felt much stranger, distorting and even warping the skies themselves. And then, a large, red-colored system message appeared above us.

[ERROR. UNABLE TO DETECT PLAYER ID ON ALL THOSE THAT HAVE FORCEFULLY ENTERED THE TOWER: FLOOR 2.]

[DUE TO A SEVERE VIOLATION OF THE TOWER RULES AND REGULATIONS, COMPLETE ELIMINATION OF INTRUDERS HAS BEGUN.]

[SUMMONING TOWER GUARDIAN…]

(Listen While Reading: Final Boss "Medley" )

“Oh, this is actually new, huh?” I wondered, rubbing my chin.

“W-What the hell?!” Peperina asked.

“This isn’t good, is it?” Yanisse said.

“Hmm, it might not be…”

RUMBLE!

The dark skies trembled as the Saurians and the rest of the people of this world started to panic. The black clouds swirled together into a gigantic, spiraling vortex.

And from the vortex, something emerged—a gigantic black figure, made entirely out of shadows, covered with crimson eyes, and with the faint shape of a human in a fetal position. It had lanky proportions, long arms and legs, and an empty, faceless head with only a single red eye on it.

“OOOOHHHHHHH…”

It spoke, screaming as its presence started releasing immense quantities of shockwaves of power, rushing down toward the Saurians while isolating the rest of the world in an invisible barrier.

“What is that thing?!” Bloodclaw panicked.

“A monster?!” Redeye asked. “What are we going to do, Master Bing Xue? It’s gigantic! Our technology… we can’t fight back properly…”

“I’ve never seen something quite like this before!” Yanisse said. “Hey, Bing Xue, we’d better go back to Earth. Can’t you teleport us back quickly?”

“Hmm,” I looked around. “Not possible. That thing is distorting space… There’s a chance it won’t work, and everyone will be torn to shreds by the space shifting incorrectly.”

“Eh?!” Peperina panicked, her rabbit ears becoming pointy.

[The Tower Guardian: [Abyssal Monarch Of The Dark Skies: Grazulmuk: Level 10,000+] has been summoned to deal with the threats to the Tower.]

“Level ten thousand, huh? Interesting.”

I floated in midair as I slowly flew into the skies. Grazulmuk’s crimson eyes glared at me, and I felt hundreds of curses stacking one after another onto my body.

[Grazulmuk has inflicted you with {Deadly Soul Erosion Curse}!]

[Grazulmuk has inflicted you with {Complete Body Paralysis Curse}!]

[Grazulmuk has inflicted you with {Endless Bleeding Curse}!]

[Grazulmuk has inflicted you with {Heart-Rotting Curse}!]

[Grazulmuk has inflicted you with {Brain-Eating Curse}!]

[Grazulmuk has inflicted you with {Eye-Melting Curse}!]

[Grazulmuk has inflicted you with…]

[…]

Wow, the Tower is really putting more effort into this now! Why didn’t they do the same with me before? Hmm, well, I never encountered this scenario before. I did do the Tutorial and everything, but still, I’ve killed plenty of Gods.

I guess the System doesn’t protect the Gods this way, but it protects itself instead. Perhaps like an immune system trying to destroy an unknown threat.
