Which Batman v. Superman version to watch?
Added 2024-12-10 17:00:10 +0000 UTCThis is still a few weeks away, but I'm going to ask now while I'm thinking about it! Which version of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice should I watch? Theatrical Releases are typically the most readily available, but this is a unique case where both versions are available to stream on Max and Prime Video without having to rent it.

2024-12-15 15:07:24 +0000 UTCWatch Man Of Steel first before watching Batman VS Superman Dawn Of Justice

2024-12-13 05:11:02 +0000 UTCIt's a toss-up between the Ultimate Edition and the unlisted people's choice of 'this movie sucks so it don't mattuh'. I've not watched any version of "Batman v. Superman". So-o-o... in the immortal words of Rob Reiner's mom when it comes to Addie's movie pick, "I'll have what SHE'S having!"

2024-12-11 20:23:33 +0000 UTCHonestly, skipping the vast majority of the Snyderverse wouldn't be the worst thing. Man of Steel was okay, the first Wonder Woman was pretty decent, and the first Aquaman movie was good. Pretty much everything else with Zack Snyder's input was various flavors of garbage.

2024-12-11 15:28:01 +0000 UTCAbstaining your vote is the only way to go in this occasion.

2024-12-11 03:15:43 +0000 UTCI'm not crazy about it either. I kinda wish it had just been a solo Batfleck movie.
Joe Blankenship
2024-12-10 23:48:51 +0000 UTCI voted for the shorter one.

2024-12-10 23:47:08 +0000 UTCPlease remember to always check for END-CREDIT SCENES just like the MCU!

2024-12-10 21:46:59 +0000 UTCWith Snyder, always pick the extended versions. The dude can do visuals but needs extra time to make the story more complete.

2024-12-10 21:24:20 +0000 UTC@Thats MR. Baldamort I *knew* you would step up to the challenge, kind sir! 😁

2024-12-10 21:01:10 +0000 UTCTBH, I enjoyed Wonder Woman (2017) very much! For someone like me who never read the comic books (oops, graphic novels!), I enjoyed seeing the backstory (or "a" backstory), and I thought Gal Gadot knocked it out of the park.

2024-12-10 21:00:11 +0000 UTCI wish you had seen the extended edition of Days of Future Past.

2024-12-10 19:59:14 +0000 UTCI never said it was the worst movie you've seen. Just that I don't care which she watches because it was one of the worst that I, me, myself has seen. Not sure why you think I think my opinion is everyone's opinion.

2024-12-10 19:51:41 +0000 UTCyou ≠ everyone

2024-12-10 19:48:39 +0000 UTCThe Snyder Cut is justice League. Ultimate edition is BvS

2024-12-10 18:23:19 +0000 UTCAddie will watch Man of Steel Before whichever Dawn of Justice version, she goes with correct?
Ed Garland
2024-12-10 18:19:18 +0000 UTCNo strong opinion on this one since they’re both on Max. 🤷♂️
Doug
2024-12-10 18:18:22 +0000 UTCConfused...is The Ultimate Edition, NOT the same as the Zack Snyder edition?? Or is it one and the same, just referred to without the "Zach Snyder" here?? Thank you ~
Ed Garland
2024-12-10 18:17:10 +0000 UTCTo be fair, while there are definitely some not so great DC films, there are some good ones (in particular I think Wonder Woman, Shazam, and Gunn’s The Suicide Squad are all very good!)
Doug
2024-12-10 18:16:52 +0000 UTCI usually always recommend the theatrical cut because it’s the film everyone first saw and knows and is used to. But this directors cut really is a better movie and a more complete experience.
Julian San
2024-12-10 18:10:30 +0000 UTCSince you also recently watched The Watchmen, may I also recommend that you review The Doomsday Clock series, where the Watchmen enter the DC Universe? It is available from Comicstorian and Comics Explained on you tube.
Glenn Houtchens
2024-12-10 17:46:23 +0000 UTCI don't think the Ultimate Edition makes it a good movie, but I'd say it's definitely the better version.
Kyle
2024-12-10 17:45:10 +0000 UTCYep. Beyond "Superman," "Superman II," "Batman," and "Batman Returns," I really don't care about any of this. I hate that Addie is even considering going further beyond those movies into DC. But at least DC did a better job at catering to Gen-Xers like me, what with those aforementioned movies as well as the SuperFriends TV series and its subsequent spinoffs than Marvel ever did (beyond The Amazing Spider-Man and His Friends, what else was there for us? 🤷♂️).

2024-12-10 17:43:51 +0000 UTCME I will, how dare you 😬
Thats MR. Baldamort
2024-12-10 17:39:51 +0000 UTC'BvS: Ultimate Edition'. There's no doubt about it. The rated R version is the only version in my opinion. Afterwards, my advice would be Zack Snyder's 'Justice League' is the only way to go. Josstice League is a travesty. I love the Snyder trilogy.
Kyle Brandon Sanger
2024-12-10 17:30:50 +0000 UTCThe Ultimate Edition does give you more story but it is super long (No Pun Intended). Zack Snyder is notorious for his long movies and even longer directors cuts. In my opinion the theatrical version is fine to watch. Plus, I'm willing to bet that not al lot of people got the Ultimate Cut.
Future_Boy85
2024-12-10 17:30:40 +0000 UTCYou need the ultimate edition for everything to make more/better sense in 'Zack Snyder's Justice League', which is another long watch for a movie, not that it's bloated.
MattTheHazard
2024-12-10 17:19:36 +0000 UTCI gotta go with neither as well.

2024-12-10 17:14:28 +0000 UTCThe longer edition provides crucial detail as to why the whole scheme with Lex was cooked up to begin with. It was a baffling decision to remove it. Frankly, even with it things are confusing.

2024-12-10 17:13:00 +0000 UTCBoth aren't great imo

2024-12-10 17:10:35 +0000 UTCDoes it matter? Is any DCEU movie worth watching? (Yes, this is troll... but who will still feel compelled to respond? 😂)

2024-12-10 17:10:26 +0000 UTCI was hoping to see”Injustice” 😂

2024-12-10 17:04:28 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 I would definitely watch the Ultimate Edition. I personally like that one better than the theatrical one. Have a great day today! 😊

2024-12-10 17:03:48 +0000 UTCExcept for the Daredevil movie, I never recommend extended versions of movies.
Brian Leonard
2024-12-10 17:02:52 +0000 UTCUltimate. There’s a whole subplot that doesn’t make sense otherwise.

2024-12-10 17:02:02 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday, Addie. My vote belongs to the Ultimate Edition. In 2021, director Zack Snyder and colorist Stefan Sonnenfeld of Company 3 remastered the Ultimate Edition of BvS. That's the version that's on Max and it even has the IMAX scenes preserved in the full 1.43:1 format. In conclusion, that's the version you want.
