THE GOONIES - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

Addie, I don't know if you remember, but in Deadpool 2 there's at least 2 references to The Goonies. After he gets ripped in half by Juggernaut, he's wearing Chunks Hawiian shirt, and he calls Cable (Josh Brolin) One Eyed Willy.

Doug Watson

My childhood right here :)

Also the Carradines (of which Martha Plimpton - who plays Stef in this movie - is a member, being the daughter of Keith Carradine) and the Redgraves/Richardsons.

Byrd N. Hand

Granted, Captain Lou Albano had previously appeared as her father in her "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" video.

On the dark side:"Dreamscape" (1984)

Here's a topic that probably hasn't been used... Actor Families! Fonda and Berrymore come to mind...

I'm happy for you that you could discover this movie. These were the childhood heroes of many kids in the 80's in all the occidental world. Including for us, french kids.

Guillaume Huet

Has she? oh well lol.

Jasbro

And a lot of the Goonies are still friends. The kid that played Chunk is now an entertainment lawyer, and one of his clients is Ke Huy Quan (Data). He brokered his deal to be in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, which marked his comeback to acting and won him an Academy award. Goonies never say die!

Cyndi Lauper's cross-promotion with the WWF (now WWE) was super fun. I had no idea what wrestling had to do with The Goonies but it was so fun I didn't really care.

Luis Fernandez

I hadn't seen The Goonies before, it's a fun movie! And it's funny seeing young Thanos/Cable as the big brother Brand and even younger Samwise as the younger brother Mikey. 🙂 Also Anne Ramsey who plays Mama Fratelli is great, I haven't seen her since Throw Mama from the Train with Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal. (That movie was ok, it's loosely based on one of my favorite Hitchcock films of all time, Strangers on a Train.)

Doug

Of course, that 'lady' happens to be '80s pop star Cyndi Lauper. That clip was actually from the video for the song, which was eventually included on the DVD.

Byrd N. Hand

According to her Lettboxd, she's already seen that one.

Byrd N. Hand

"Follow them size fives!" has probably always been my favorite line from the movie. 😁

Byrd N. Hand

Yeah, they included the deleted scene on the DVD... and, frankly, it was better left out of the movie.

Byrd N. Hand

My childhood in a bottle! "Baby...Ruth?"

Steve Mercier

Exactly the comment I was going to add! Monster Squad would be a great Halloween-time movie for Addie. It has all the theme, all the fun, and not too much of the scare.

Ian Forbes

What a fun reaction! The Goonies is one of my all-time favorite movies, in fact there are some aspects of it that hit me harder than they did when I was younger. I love the sort of relationship that Mikey develops with One-Eyed Willy(btw, now you know why Deadpool called Cable "One-Eyed Willy" in Deadpool 2. :) Some familiar faces you might have missed: Joey Pants from The Matrix and a bunch of other movies played Francis Fratelli, while Robert Davi played his brother Jake. Davi was the FBI guy in the first Die Hard who was all "Just like back in Saigon!" on the helicopter. At the end when the two cops in red baseball caps ride up, the one on the right is Richard Donner, the director of the movie. He also directed the Lethal Weapons and the original Christopher Reeve Superman. For a few of the big anniversaries, The Goonies has been brought back to the big screen for limited engagements. Next year is the 40th, so there's a decent chance it'll come back out. If so, I HIGHLY recommend going, I went a few years ago and it absolutely still holds up. :)

I would like to suggest another 80's classic (Lost Boys) which also has one of the goonies in it, not quite the family friendly adventure this was but still a fantastic movie.

Jasbro

and I love when a group of children are together they all talk over each other like a little bundle of chaos! It feels fun and exciting

Terry Lee

at the end of the movie she mentions an octopus, but oddly enough that scene was removed from the movie but they left the line in

Terry Lee

As the lady said, the Goonies r good enough (ya ya ya ya ya ya). In another music-related note, the band The Fratellis got their name from the baddies in this movie.

Luis Fernandez

Mama Fratelli casually eating a saltine cracker while being chased by a bunch of cops in hot pursuit has always tickled me, for some reason. 🤭

Byrd N. Hand

Well I know what I'm doing tonight

The Dingo

Have a fab 4th July my awesome Americans the other side of the pond. Hopefully I'm getting a new leader. 😘

PHILLIP CORNISH

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 This is such a summer movie. So glad that you loved it. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

Speaking of the Universal Monsters, I suggest Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and The Wolf Man (1941), all for Halloween. #UniversalMonstersForAddieCounts

Alex Tan

I highly recommend Monster Squad (1987), it's basically Goonies vs. The Universal monsters!

David Crabtree

It's aGrwat Show! Love you loved it!

(in response to the caption) HEY ADDDDDDIIEEEE, Happy Wednesday! After TWO YEARS of waiting, we finally have your reaction to The Goonies (1985). You did say that it was one of the movies that Jeremy wanted you to watch, and now we're finally here. I own the movie on DVD and I plan on watching the movie (hopefully) this weekend. BTW, I like your new profile pic. And also, Richard Donner directed the movie, while Steven Spielberg was executive producer. Always remember, Goonies never say die.

Alex Tan

This is an awesome movie. I'm really looking forward to see your reaction to it.

Tom W.

Yes! One of my all time favorites from childhood. So excited to rewatch with you, Addie!

Ian Forbes

YAY! I knew you'd love it, Addie! I wish I could watch it right now, but it'll have to wait until after I take my cat to his vet appointment(totally routine). But oh man, I'm going to have so much fun watching The Goonies with you this afternoon :)
