look up "ArmageddoN'SYNC" ; from when MTV movie awards were funny.

Who, Bruce Willis? Which movies have you seen? I was going to start naming names, but didn't want to spoil anything.

Bill W

The thing I most identify with in this movie is people mistaking Jethro Tull for an individual singer (i.e. their frontman/main creative force Ian Anderson) as opposed to a full band. Yes, they take their name from a signficant individual English agriculturalist, but people should know better at this point.

Byrd N. Hand

Wow, now that you mention it, I can't help but let out an Owen Wilson "Wow.." when I realize that I can't think of any other Movie of his, where he dies or has a death scene... but I also admit that I haven't seen everything he's been in.

Mister Lou

Hey there! Amazing reaction! You should definitely give 'Deep Impact (1998)' a shot next. It's in the same asteroid ballpark but has a much different tone. Personally I prefer it over Armageddon. Really great movie, and I'd love to see you react to it.

Pearl Jam

Yes, I think Addie would like it. Getting it to win a poll in the first place is the real trick...

Byrd N. Hand

Knowing where Bruice Willis is health wise, losing his memory among other things, his death in this film hits a bit harder. A few more tears are automatically downloaded to my face at the end there.

General Question: Anyone else see: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984)? Ya think Addie might like it?!?

Randolph Tirazona

This was a great reaction! Love this movie

The cardinal sin of mentioning a great movie in your mediocre movie. It’s like when Netflix’s Red Notice makes Indiana Jones references, guys I’m already bored stop suggesting things I’d prefer to be watching. My Kubric rec is Paths of Glory .

Jacob King

I like Armageddon, I think it and The Rock are the best movies that Michael Bay directed. (I also like A Quiet Place that he produced but that one was directed by John Krasinski.) I'm not really into his other films (e.g. The Transformers series, Bad Boys) but this one pretty much hits all the marks in terms of being a fun movie.

Doug

I don't think it's fair to say Armageddon wasn't "done right", it's a good movie. Deep Impact is more dramatic and realistic in a scientific sense but of the two I enjoy Armageddon more as a film.

Doug

Don't take me wrong I like this movie but perhaps you should do the version of this movie meant for adults called Deep Impact which came out the same year with the same core premise but done right.

Andrew Roach

disagree - first time reactions should always be the theatrical release

The Dingo

I should clarify: Michael Bay was a producer on "A Quiet Place," not the actual director. Just so there's no confusion about why I associate it with Bay.

People are really hard on Michael Bay movies, and with some of them, I agree with the hate, but there are a few of his movies that I really love, and this is one of them. Even after seeing it several times, some parts still make me tear up. It may not be super realistic, but it's super fun and also emotional at times. I'm glad you liked it, Addie! I am a fan of disaster movies, even though some of them aren't so popular. I'd love to see "2012" and "Volcano" show up on the channel someday. (Hey! I'm recommending something NOT horrorish! Sorry, btw, Addie, for suggesting so many movies that are technically horror, even though I disagree with that classification. I promise I'm not recommending anything that I know you'd absolutely hate.) As for Michael Bay, I fall in the middle of the scale of Michael Bay hate, so I actually would recommend a few. More than some of his haters, less than his fans. Such as "The Rock," "A Quiet Place" (sorry, a horror movie again, but I maintain my opinion that it's suspense, not horror), and "Bad Boys," in that order. In any case, I hope you, Addie, and everyone else that sees this, are having a wonderful day!

BubblyRainbows

If you love Billy Bob Thornton and Bruce Willis together, another movie with them in it (if you haven't seen it) would be Bandits (2001). Wonderful film. It also stars Cate Blanchett. Such a good movie.

I have always enjoyed this one since I saw it in the theater. As easy as it was for my friend and I to point out everything wrong about it when we saw it in the theater, it did not take away from the fun of watching it over and over when it was on cable/DVD. It is just pure, mindless fun with an awesome cast.

I have never seen this movie but I do enjoy the Aerosmith song, lookin forward to watching this tonight.

Steve SG-1

I'm on board with you, Randee.

There's a scene where Steve Buscemi's character starts to lose it, and he says he's acting like Slim Pickens riding the nuclear warhead. That's from Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964), which is a Kubrick film that is worth checking out. Other Slim Pickens recs are Blazing Saddles (1974) and The Black Hole (1979). (At this point I will take full responsibility for mentioning Kubrick and Pickens then following up with Pickens recs and not Kubrick recs)

Luis Fernandez

I want to echo Alex Tan. The 1998 Close encounters directors cut is the better version. Excited for Armageddon. I'm glad to see you enjoyed it. I know more people than none been looking forward to this film reaction since you started the channel! Have a good day folks!

LightsCameraJake

(URGENT TO ADDIE) If you plan on watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), then I STRONGLY recommend the 1998 Director's Cut of the movie that runs 137 minutes long.

Happy Monday, Addie! 😊 This is a great way to start off a Monday. I love this movie so much! One of my favorite disaster(non-weather related)movies, and easily one of my favorite Bruce Willis movies. It does have a stellar cast. Fun Fact: For the scene when Harry reads the list of demands from his crew to NASA, director Michael Bay had the cast make out that list, and Bruce Willis read from that during the filming. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening, with tissues on hand. Another great Bruce Willis and Michael Clarke Duncan(RIP always) movie that I very highly recommend is the 2000 "The Whole Nine Yards" and it's 2004 sequel "The Whole Ten Yards". Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

Speaking of Michael Bay, I also suggest Bad Boys (1995), The Rock (1996), Pearl Harbor (2001) and Bad Boys II (2003), all produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, as well as The Island (2005), Transformers (all five films), Pain & Gain (2013), 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), 6 Underground (2019) and Ambulance (2022). #MoreMichaelBayForAddieCounts

Happy Monday, Addie. Now this is a great (belated) birthday present. Armageddon (1998) is one of my favorite Michael Bay movies. I don't care what anyone says, I enjoyed this movie, so I am with you here. My favorite line will always be "We win, Gracie!". There's also a very heartwarming deleted scene where Harry visits his father and tells him that God gives us children so we can have roses in December. Harry even tells this to Grace in an extended version of his video transmission to her. Those deleted scenes were added back in an unrated extended cut of the film that's found on the Criterion Collection DVD.
