2024-01-20 19:15:13 +0000 UTCYeah, this finale has some cool moments, but I do agree that it feels a little short changed? For instance, the final fight against all of Fisk's goons had a great intro shot of her and her ancestors standing side by side, but then the fight itself ended up being just a couple of quick choppy edits of some hits from Maya and her family. Imagine, for instance, if they had instead done something like allowing her "ancestors" to swap turns fighting in her place against the mob in a more extended sequence. Similarly she "heals" Fisk of his rage, sort of, which was a neat sequence, but the payoff again seemed kind of short and the resolution of what exactly it meant for Fisk is unclear. All in all, it's an ok episode, but the series as a whole and this finale do leave me thinking the show has more potential to be a great series than it got to be in practice. If they ever do a second season of Maya hopefully they can maybe give it an extra episode or two to let the characters breath a bit, polish up a few of the action sequences, and put some visually interesting spins on her ancestral abilities. (Oh yeah, and keep Biscuits around, he's Ride or Die for Maya all the way! π)

I wish we would have explored Maya's personality a bit more; as it is, I wouldn't mind seeing Maya again, but I don't feel connected to her so I'd be fine with this being her last appearance. If Fisk runs for mayor of NY, it may cause some local heroes to jump into action. Perhaps we're approaching a good time to dip a toe into the next Netflix series?

The post-credit scene seems to set up Fisk running and possibly becoming the Mayor of New York in the upcoming "Daredevil: Born Again" series. And hopefully we'll see Maya pop up again in the future. Up next is the MCU movie "The Marvels". And then you'll be caught up again. Have a great day today & a great weekend! π
