INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Inglourious Basterds! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this one because I didn't love Once Upon a Time in Hollywood when I saw it in 2019, but I enjoyed this movie! Pulp Fiction was always just a couple of votes behind this movie in the poll (and as I'm typing this, it is actually TIED), so I will watch Pulp Fiction soon as well. Enjoy!

INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS - Full Length Reaction!

don't know if its planned but. if you haven't seen the hateful eight yet, that's another really good Tarantino movie.

if zoller hadn’t have been so infatuated w shoshanna, her and landa would’ve never even crossed paths. zoller didn’t do anything good lol

I'm happy that Shosanna was able to survive and find a new identity. I have a feeling that Landa did have an idea that Emmanuelle was her alias. If Fredrick Zoller wasn't infatuated with her, he would have had her revealed and killed. That's the one good thing Zoller did. I just now made this connection that Zoller was played by Daniel Bruhl who is our Baron Zemo from the MCU. One of my favorite roles of his is actually from a TNT series called, The Alienist, that aired after Civil War. With the makeup and costuming I never made that connection until today. The Alienist is a sleeper series that is so very unique. Two seasons.. 18 episodes total 10/8 I see that there's only been 1 reactor who has watched this, a few years ago. If by chance other subscribers have seen this then maybe we can suggest this. I know that you have a full plate ahead of you, Addie. Back burner idea.

Dunno if Addie noticed, but Jackson was the narrator for the Hugo Stiglitz background scene.

If you liked Samuel L. Jackson in "Die Hard: With a Vengeance" (as I know you did), you'll definitely also like him in "Pulp Fiction;" he basically plays a more intense version of Zeus in the film.

The title of the opening segment, Once Upon a Time in Nazi-Occupied France, is a subtle hint that what you are watching is a fairy tale, complete with a happy ending (though a quite bloody one because, you know, Quentin Tarantino).

Speaking of Diane Kruger, who played Bridget von Hammersmark, I also suggest National Treasure (2004), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) (both produced by Jerry Bruckheimer), Unknown (2011) & The 355 (2022). #MoreDianeKrugerForAddieCounts

Diane Kruger (Bridget von Hammersmark) was on an episode of Fringe (2x17), and there's a scene when she's on the phone trying to remember someone's name, and one of her guesses was "Gorlami". It was a fun reference to catch.

The thing about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, you really have to know the real history of the Manson murders and how attrocious they were. The climax of that movie has the biggest tension building scene since the Basterds opener. But only if you know what really happens. These two are unique in that the way they end is much more cathartic and enjoyable than the sad reality. If you do go back and give Hollywood another shot, definitely read about what happened to Sharon Tate (who is played by Margot Robbie in the film). Tarantino has a lot of respect for her and really honored her memory. As for DiCaprio's character, most of the movie is based on a conglomeration of a bunch of western actors that followed a similar trajectory through the rise and fall of tv westerns and resurgence of Italian-made spaghetti western films like those Clint Eastwood is known for. It's a bit self indulgent for all the Hollywood love but the more you know about the history behind it and the more of Tarantino's style you're familiar with, I think you could definitely get a lot more out of a second viewing.

I love the reveal that it's an alternate history. Hitler gets shots to shit by some of the best Jewish soldiers in history instead of killing himself.

So glad you watched this one Addie. I do enjoy you getting more daring in your choice of films.

Bawn jerno, Addie. Gratsee for this reaction. 😁 Notice you had Christoph Waltz and Léa Seydoux together briefly in the first scene before reuniting respectively as Blofeld and Madeleine in the James Bond series ("Spectre" actually had a subtle acknowledgement of this scene between their characters).

Fun fact: Eli Roth, who plays Sgt. Donny "The Bear Jew" Donowitz, got into his character by listening to Hannah Montana. His girlfriend (now ex-wife), Lorenza Izzo, snuck in the song "Nobody's Pefect" onto his iPod playlist that was filled with various heavy metal songs by Misfits and Iron Maiden. When he filmed the scene where he was beating up a Nazi, he was thinking about what it would be like to be Hannah Montana. Thus, resulting in the ferocity of Eli Roth's performance as Sgt. Donny "The Bear Jew" Donowitz.

Happy Monday, Addie. Inglourious Basterds (2009) is my favorite Quentin Tarantino movie, alongside Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). The film's second chapter is my favorite scene because it establishes the Basterds and their goal. That ending was so satisfyingly savage IMO. I think that the reason why you didn't enjoy OUATIH is because of its non-linear storyline. You'll also appreciate that movie a lot more if you research the Tate/LaBianca Murders. I do hope that you would do a rewatch reaction to that movie soon.

Happy Monday, Addie! 😊 I hope that you had a great weekend. Even though I voted for "Pulp Fiction" I'm glad that this one ended up winning. It's been awhile since I've seen this movie. And it's going to be a great re-watch. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊
