ETERNALS - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Eternals! I had heard mixed reviews about this movie, but I actually really enjoyed it! The tone felt different in this one compared to other MCU movies, but it still had the lighthearted moments that I enjoy so much in the MCU. I loved meeting these new characters, and I feel like the movie did a pretty good job of introducing us to so many new characters and backstories. Enjoy!

ETERNALS - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

I loved this movie. Thanks Addie!

Gideon James

Addie, do NOT skip the Venom movies...they are necessary.

Mr. Nobody

This movie gets better with each watching. The first time, I was beyond lost and didn’t like not knowing what is really happening. Another reason is that I didn’t like part of the cast. By the third time watching, it was so enjoyable and I also enjoyed the entire cast. What I really enjoyed from the first time is Karun. There was something so pure and genuine about him that it’s impossible not to love his character. His goodbye breaks me every single time. It was so heartfelt and honorable. I’m happy to enjoyed this. Take care, Addie!!

Yeah I like this movie a lot more than other people did. I like how the Eternals are kind of the bad guys here. Yeah we are biased for having Earth survive, but in the grand scheme, many more lives will have been born if Tiamut were to be born. So they kind did a bad thing killing him. And I get you're mad at Ikarus lol, but I felt for him. His sense of purpose is greater than his connections. That doesn't make him bad, it just is who he is. But he's more human than he thought, as he couldn't bring himself to kill Sersi. He loved her too much. So its really cool how they showed it still hurt him to betray them. He truly did care, no matter how much he tried to distance himself. I also really like the relationship between Gilgamesh and Thena. Very touching how he was always there for her. If you don't watch the Venom movies, then I guess I'll see you for No Way Home!

Lorenzo Baxter

I 2nd this, and would add that besides following the Infinity Saga and Covid related issues, the MCU lost a MAJOR character with the passing of Chadwick Boseman, causing rewrites and delays. Not just Eternals, but phase 4 in general had a lot of complications during production of almost every project. Since it is a vast connected story, a delay on one project, just dominos onto the next in some fashion I would imagine. I always remember phase 2 overall wasn’t the most popular, but we got thru it and now look back on it as “not so bad as we remember” and those of us who thought phase 2 wasn’t so bad from the beginning, we don’t say I told you so, not ever😜😆

CheshireKat528

And of course watch Dunkirk😁

CheshireKat528

Dunkirk also stars Druig & Venom! It all comes full circle. Addie has to watch both Venom movies🖤 The universe wills it 😜

CheshireKat528

She's gonna have a some questions near the end of NWH if she doesn't react to both Venom movies and they both RULE.

Alex Tan

Don't know if you made the connection, but the Celestials we see here are the same race as the Celestials we met in Guardians 2. Also, did you notice we got both a Batman and a Superman mention in this movie? I wonder if DC would ever refer to a Marvel character in one of theirs.

Luis Fernandez

No, she really shouldn't. They aren't MCU and they both suck horribly.

The Dingo

This is kind of a spoiler; I think Addie prefers no spoilers.

The Dingo

I think they also didn't expect a character/ensemble study piece, which is what this was in my opinion, and a very well done character/ensemble study.

The Dingo

Nic Cage is great and the 2000 version was fine, but if you haven't seen the 1974 version, really you should check it out. There's some brilliant (non-CGI) stunt-driving that make it a stand out film. You can say that the plot isn't as developed, but that isn't really the point of the film, right? If you liked the 2000 version, I think you'd get a real kick out of it!

Luis Fernandez

I loved it too~ Black Knight and Blade is gonna be good. If you have not seen them yet Blade 1 and 2 is really good Blade 3 not so much but has Ryan Reynolds in it

Jayson Phillips

As a fan of Nicolas Cage & Jerry Bruckheimer, I actually think that Gone In Sixty Seconds (2000) is awesome. And I meant to suggest El Mariachi (1992) before Desperado & OUATIM.

Alex Tan

There's nothing wrong with Eternals. The only thing it suffered from was being post-Endgame. Fans were determined to hate anything that came out and Covid didn't help. So many new fans joined the fandom from binging during lockdowns that they were unprepared for a non-core MCU movie, and they never really sat through any of the films during the franchise's lower moments.

aarswft

See, Thanos did nothing wrong. With less intelligent life, no emergence. And yes, Dane Whitman family history is pretty cool *cough*Black Knight*cough*

Rippan

Just my 2cents, but Addie if you are thinking of watching Gone in Sixty Seconds... the 1974 original is a brilliant "car movie" with arguably the greatest car chase scene ever. The 2000 remake is not. And if you are thinking of watching Desperado/Once Upon a Time in Mexico, those are part of a trilogy, with part 1 being El Mariachi, so be sure to check that one out first. The great thing about watching all three is you really get to see Robert Rodriguez grow as a director.

Luis Fernandez

I totally agree with you. But when Addie reacts to Dunkirk, she's gonna feel very anxious, on-edge, and high strung afterwards, just like she was after watching The Dark Knight (2008).

Alex Tan

Well yeah if she records ahead (likely) it's too late but still in case she hasn't, it's never too late to just make a suggestion.

Lorenzo Baxter

I'm not sure if there is any time between today and next Monday to watch Venom 1 and 2.

DazzMetalStorm

Marvels What If is next before both spiderman and Dr Strange order wise.

LightsCameraJake

Oh yeah. Its been like a year or something so watching as a recap would be good just so she rematches Peters origins and stuff.

Isaac

No I know that, I've seen all the reactions, that's why I said that lol I just mean since she's pausing the shows for a while, I think the context fits for her to watch those as well.

Lorenzo Baxter

I second this. Definitely watch both Venom movies before Spiderman, definitely not integral but a least you'll enjoy it.

Andy K

She's seen Both Sami's and Webb's Spider-Man movies along with Into the Spider-Verse. But she has not seen the Venom movies yet from my understanding, at least there's no reaction up. Spider-Man 1 - Seen Spider-Man 2 - Seen Spider-Man 3 - Seen The Amazing Spider-Man - Seen The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Seen Spider-Man: Homecoming - Seen Spider-Man: Far From Home - Seen Spider-Man: No Way Home - Not Seen Venom - Not Seen Venom: Let There Be Carnage - Not Seen I agree but she's got the most important films covered. Venom would be a nice watch but not 100% needed to enjoy the film. But i think she'll enjoy the Venom films anyways so may as well watch them.

Isaac

Don't worry, she's seen all of them up to Far from Home.

DazzMetalStorm

I think that she might like "Don't Worry Darling", which also has Florence Pugh(Yelena) in it. And I have to see "Dunkirk". I've heard that one is pretty good as well.

Randee Carreno

...speaking of Harry Styles, I also suggest Dunkirk (2017) & Don't Worry Darling (2022).

Alex Tan

Before you watch No Way Home, I would watch the Venom movies beforehand. They are important, and if you hadn't already watched the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies, we definitely would be saying you gotta watch those lol 😅 The Venom movies aren't as integral as those Spider-Man movies, but there will still be things you won't understand unless you give those a watch. Theres only two of them so I think given the context, it's worth it.

Lorenzo Baxter

Overall Thoughts: Even though I did like this film it would've worked better as a 18 episode TV series like what they're doing with the new Daredevil MCU show. Build up the origin of the Eternals with the first episode then dive into each character and their own origin stories. 10 episodes focused on one of the 10 Eternals and then they come together. This film had the same problem the X-Men films had just too many characters and little focus on all of them. But overall I did like it for how different in tone it was to everything else in the MCU. I do love that they shot all scenes on location (Places that still existed) which makes the film look so good instead of shooting on a stage with CGI backdrops or Led screens which do look good in stuff like Mandalorian but real set locations looks so much better. Even the CGI stuff looks good a problem alot of Phase 4 Marvel projects have at the moment. DC References: I do love how there's several references to DC Comics throughout the film from the mention of Batman and Alfred along with Superman and his Earth name Clark. Pop Culture is still a thing in the MCU and the Marvel comic books as well so stuff like DC comic characters do exist as Comic books characters. Even recalling back to Spider-Man 1 Aunt May says "You're not Superman you know" so it's not the first DC reference in a Marvel movie. Funny enough Marvel even exists within there comics universe only difference being Marvel writes comics about the real life hero's instead of creating them. So for example the Avengers have comics that showcase adventures they went on which is pretty cool. No doubt there's also tv shows and movies as well in the Marvel universe based on the Avengers. I'm not sure if this is the same from the MCU but we do see Captain Marvel comics in Captain America: First Avenger but I can't recall if they're created by Marvel Comics. End Credit Voice: So the voice in the after credit scene is confirmed to be Mahershala Ali by the director. Ali is playing Blade within the MCU so this is pretty much Blade reaching out to Dane Whitman who in the comics is the Black Knight. They've teamed up before in the comics so it's not surprising that Blade would've reached out to him no doubt a future ally. Blade was pretty active in London in the comics as he was raised in East London so he's out there somewhere in the background hunting Vampires. Final Thoughts: Overall not my favourite MCU film but I do like that it tried it's best to be different. So naturally the film was pretty mixed by fans for other reasons as well. I would say it's similar to Star Wars fans reaction to Andor and how different it was to other Star Wars media but that series had much better build up and writing than Eternals for me. Thisis why I would've loved to see this done as a HBO style TV drama focusing on each member and then coming together in the end. Glad you liked the movie though and cannot wait for you're next reaction to No Way Home my first theatre experience since Lockdown and what an experience it was. Crazy that was all the way back in Dec 2021 feels like last year.

Isaac

...and speaking of Salma Hayek, I also suggest Desperado (1995), Once Upon A Time In Mexico (2003), but watch El Mariachi (1992) first, From Dusk Till Dawn (1996, WARNING⚠️: There's a SNAKE scene in this one), Fools Rush In (1997), Grown Ups (2010), Grown Ups 2 (2013), Savages (2012, UNRATED), The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017), Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021), and House of Gucci (2021, directed by Ridley Scott).

Alex Tan

Happy Monday Addie! 😊 This is a really good movie. Like with "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" I was going into not knowing anything about the story or the characters. I did know some of the actors like Angelina Jolie, Harry Styles, Kit Harington, and Bill Skarsgård. Overall, this was a pretty good movie. You're SO CLOSE to "Spider-Man: No Way Home"!!! Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

Speaking of Angelina Jolie, I suggest The Bone Collector (1999), Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, WARNING⚠️: There's a brief SNAKE scene in this one), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (2003), Salt (2010), Maleficent (2014), Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019), Unbroken (2014) and By The Sea (2015).

Alex Tan

But she should watch Venom (2018) & Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) before NWH.

Alex Tan

Excited to rewatch this! And glad from your description that you liked it, Addie. I really like it too as I don’t need every MCU project to feel the same and enjoyed the different tone. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but that’s fine. Making things to appeal to everyone often means a lack of specificity and personal connection.

Ian Forbes

Happy Monday, Addie. I'm glad that you enjoyed Eternals (2021) because even my girlfriend & I enjoyed seeing it in IMAX. It's great that we're introduced to new characters in this one and I do hope we get an Eternals 2. BTW, in the GOTG Holiday Special, Kingo made a Christmas movie.

Alex Tan

No way home is next!!
