I think Marineford has permanently scarred your soul regarding plots like this XD) Here's my take on Nighteye: right after he gets stabbed, he's going "Let me see it, let me see Eri get saved". Considering this happened right after the flashback where he told Gran Torino that he was afraid that he was *causing* things to happen because nothing he tried ever seemed to stop the future he saw from taking place; the way I see it? He was trying to use that fact to force a happy future for the kids. After all; if he sees something bad happen to someone and nothing can stop it happening, then surely if he sees something *good* happen to someone, it must also be guaranteed to happen, right? So instead of focusing on Overhaul, he switched to using Foresight on Mirio, on Deku, on Eri; all to try and see a future where they get out of this battle safely, but it's just not happening. And because he's so desperately focused on using Foresight to make sure he sees the people he cares about make it out alive; he's not even trying to use it on the battle he's actually in, which makes it incredibly easy for Overhaul to get him.
