2025-08-27 09:21:46 +0000 UTCI'm surprised after watching so many anime and shows you just automatically hate Ed's dad like that. I guess I was expecting you to theorize or predict on why the show weirdly portrayed him so mysterious and chill in this episode when he's supposed to be the big bad but your reaction is "DEADBEAT! FUCKING DEADBEAT" no hate obv, love the reactions

2025-08-26 17:03:55 +0000 UTCReminder I have sent you the OVA's so you can have an easy next recording lol So; back when you were watching All Might and All For One duke it out and you commented on AFO's voice actor: I commented that you might be hearing more of him very soon; this was why. John Swasey is the English VA for both All For One and Hoenheim~ I'll admit, this was an episode that took me a long time to truly get what it was trying to say, so I'll do my best to try and explain it to the best of my understanding. (Which admittedly could still be wrong, sodon't take this as absolute XD) But basically; it goes right back to what their teacher was trying to tell them the whole time: "In Alchemy, things cannot be created or destroyed, only moved from one form to another." To use an example; lets say that Ed finds a rock somewhere. If he just pushes it out of the way; it's clearly still the same rock just in a different place. But what if instead uses Alchemy to change it into sand, and then reforms it: does that make it the same rock as it was before? What Ed realised this episode is while it is infinitely more complicated than a mere rock; a soul also works the exact same way under alchemy. Souls get "created" all the time: it literally happens every single time a new person is born. So theoretically it is 100% possible to make *a* soul with alchemy if you actually learn enough: But what is outright impossible is to bring a soul back once it's gone. If a person has died, regardless of if their soul has transferred into other life, become different energy, or simply moves onto the next world; then even if you somehow managed to create a perfect replica of the soul you were wanting; it's still not going to be the same soul. That's why Ed was able to "bring back" Al's; Al never actually died. Truth has a hold of his body as a payment for opening the portal into its domain of knowledge (Which incidentally is the only thing it *can* give; it's not a coincidence that every alchemist that's seen it calls that thing "Truth"), but what's happened in Al's case is the equivalent to just moving the rock; his soul was just playing jump rope from his original body to the corpse on the ground, and then into the armor: at no point did it ever disappear. (Their bodies were the same way; it's not like they got burnt or dissolved or eaten; Truth just walked up and said "mine now" and took them wholesale.) And because what happened with Truth is the equivalent of "moving the rock", their exact body parts have to exist somewhere on the other side of the doorway that is the portal. That's why Ed was so confident he could bring them back, and why he was so happy at finding out about what they did. Along with relieving of the burden that their mistake didn't cause their own mother to suffer; it proved to him without a doubt the fundamental rule of alchemy is absolute; it cannot be broken. Which also means; if there's something happening that looks like it's breaking that rule; that means there's a trick at play. And much like watching a stage magician, one you know there is a trick, you can start trying to figure out what that trick is.
