Your reactions are totally different now than last year. Like a 180. Remember, in 1885 the DeLorean from 1985 was still in 1885. When Marty flew from 1985 to 1885 there were currently two DeLoreans at the same time. That's how Doc got the black train to be outfitted as the new time machine. He took the parts from the 1885 DeLorean and through the years upgraded a train, eventually went to the future and got a hover conversion done. Once that was complete he flew back to 1985 and got Einstein and met Marty and Jennifer.

2023-08-21 19:29:21 +0000 UTCI binged the trilogy with you and I'm curious about something - you keep asking how, or expressing surprise, when something they took back in time, like the hoverboard or walkie-talkies still worked back in time. Why wouldn't they? The time machine keeps working, as long as it has fuel and something to charge the flux capacitor. Why wouldn't something relatively simple like the hoverboard or walkie-talkies keep working? They still have the same power source that they had in their own time - charged batteries for the walkie-talkies and who knows what future type powed source (probably just a fancier battery) for the hoverboard. Sure, eventually they would run out, but until then, what other reason would they have for not working? It's not like they took something like a cell phone that would require access to a network infrastructure to function.
