There's a very neat parallel in Kuvira's speech with Last Airbender. Kuvira's reasoning of expanding the Earth Kingdom's reach because its going to spread prosperity is the same reason Fire lord Sozen gave to Avatar Roku for why he wanted to expand the Fire Kingdom's territory.
