I have to admit. At the time, I also wanted to see Luffy take an interest in Margaret. I think she's a cute character who would go very well with Luffy. Adorable and strong at the same time. Pure and endearing. Raised the hard way! All that. BUT I quickly forgot about the idea. Oda doesn't address romantic relationships in One Piece. He either turns them into humor, or they serve the purpose of character stories without having any major importance. PS: And Margaret is 16. So, a year younger than Luffy. It works. Hancock being 29 is weird. I know we're talking about a fantasy world of pirates inspired by the 16th century, but still.
