Unused strip for August 6, 2025
Added 2025-08-05 13:18:37 +0000 UTCI like "yeah? prove it" as Dorothy's response to Joyce's "i might be a teensy bit gay," but it resolves in a final panel that was less specifically romantic than I was shooting for. As Maggie correctly said when I showed her the earlier iteration, "this is a Slipshine launch gag." Not the desired tone!

On another note, this is where I started trying to be fancier in my early daylight lighting strips. usually I just put a colored filter over everything and erase where I want highlights. But here I put a second, differently-colored filter on just the highlight areas! Gives a more vivid look.
(In the months since this, I went back to the Joyce/Joe bedtop smooching strips and redid them in this style before publication.)

Mags is right. Very different tone. BUT...they can totally reprise the entire (very short) conversation after their next date (whatever those two might do, that can be considered a date...hopefully nothing as perilous as a police-assaulted protest). "I might be a teensy bit gay." "Oh, yeah? Prove it." "Well, okay then."
