Edmure Tully (the guy who was captive and surrendered Riverrun) is Blackfish'es nephew, not son. I don't think the Faceless man in charge of the temple was surprised when Arya killed his student. I think this was a final test to become no one. I also don't think he ever wanted her to properly serve the Many-faced God (even though he said he wanted her to), but only to teach her how to become and assassin so that she can get her vengeance. That why her was low-key proud of her when she said she was Arya (he nodded, smiled and let her go). I don't think he ever wanted to recruit her in his cult, but only to help her get better because she saved his life long ago. You might say he repayed his debt with the death wishes and escape of the Harrenhall, but then he found her afterwards and gave her a coin, which he didn't have to do, knowing she had revenge on her mind and not some service to the cult she didn't know about. If he wanted her dead, she most likely would be. Arya was wounded and managed to kill his student with an element of surprise, but killing him is another story entirely. He probably thought that the blonde student wasn't a good servant of the Man-faced God (even though she was very skilled in combat) because she was always jelous of Arya (he emphasised many times that proper "no one" should have no desires and could see constant jelously in the blonde girl) and decided to serve her up to Arya as a final test rather than keep her in his service, because he really admired Arya and wanted Arya to get better. If he really wanted her to serve properly, he could've killed her right after she killed a kingsguard, but instead he decided to teach her further. So now, Arya the same amount of skill as a proper "no one" assassin, without actually having to serve the Many-faced God.
