2023-08-19 08:51:24 +0000 UTCSo... this arc is okay for what it is, but it has almost the opposite problem of the last arc. Funato tried to be deep and serious but couldn't pull it off, mostly due to the production problems. This arc shifts a full 180, and never *wants* to go dark even when they can. Like; how messed up would it actually have been if Osakas mother genuinely didn't care about her? Like it wasn't a misunderstanding or anything; she was just straight up a horrible woman that would rather let her daughter die then pay for a ransom. That would be some hard hitting stuff; and theres a few more moments like this that are coming up. But either because they were to afraid to try taking things seriously or they were adamant against having this arc be anything but lighthearted and goofy, they never commit when they're able to. It's just a very big missed opportunity if you ask me.

Of course the guy's going to seem weak in comparison to Kawaki who has a modified body.

2023-08-18 22:57:04 +0000 UTCI remember a lot of reactors when this aired sighed and groaned and chalked up Osuka's behavior to just being a spoiled brat, but based on what we've found out about her so far it's clear her parents are never home and the only people at home are the butlers and maids so she's already used to thinking her parents prefer their work as actors over spending time with her because that's what they've prioritized so far so since she already feels unimportant to her mother something as harmless as throwing away her pudding that she was saving feels like an even bigger slight to a child because in Osuka's mind that pudding was precious and her mom threw it away so to her it's like saying you already don't want to be around me and now you don't even want my things around either which led to her having the mindset her mom doesn't care about her. Sure it's childish thinking but she is indeed a child.
