Sometimes people confuse inspiration with copy/paste. While creating a musical piece, you can pick a couple of notes of already existing piece of music and meld it with your own unique one that you are creating to make the music great and still fresh. Difference between copy/paste and inspiration. The oversimplification you did can devalue 80% of the shows. It's like how someone can find tons of similarities between Marvel's Civil War movie and DC's Batman V Superman by simplifying things and yet the movies are vastly different as well and critical people will ignore that and focus on "the repetitive stuff" and diss. This show is being treated unfairly as if it would be mediocre without animation. I would give it 8/10 if it didn't have that clean animation. But since it does have that, 9/10. Only one bonus point. Cuz that s2.5 fight was sooo good but the episode after that is what I watched reactions for more. The emotional stuff. I have seen Fullmetal and despite that didn't find any semblance of repetitiveness while watching this demon show cuz of that one minor similarity. Never ever have I seen a show based on vampirish demons with such unique designs and strengths. MCs kind nature is something I could feel for. His goal of fixing his remaining family but he keeps her in a box! Lol. Villain is so evil for no reason, that's "repetitive" but he is different enough in his qualities. For one, he looks like MJ for some reason and his control over his underlings is unique enough with all those curses, fear, cruelty and stuff. Side villains having a victim side, which is understandable. Most people don't choose to be monsters for no reason. Edit: brilliant storywriting imo

2023-05-10 05:57:18 +0000 UTCWhat exactly is new about DS's story? The story of an MC losing his whole family and having to grow stronger to discover the truth has been done before. Saving the sibling from an unreasonabl, traumatic life changing event has been done before (ex. Fullmetal Alchemist). Joining a mysterious organization of enigmtic individuals headed by super powerful members to fight back against an everpresent evil is a hallmark of battle shonens in some way shape of form. The enemy force having an "elite group" with some sort of categorical hierarchy (whether it be numerical or alphabetical, etc.) that the heroes have to slowly defeat from weakest to strongest is also something that's a mainstay of the genre. What DS DOES do well is polish those tropes. Most notably, Tanjiro himself. He's not a typical shonen protagonist. He's not out for revenge, he doesn't want to become the best at something, he's not a headed idiot. He's jsut a genuinely nice kid.

2023-05-08 23:20:16 +0000 UTCFor a story with 200 chapters, it's as much plot as you can get in my humble opinion. People that think it's not enough are probably comparing it with a big 3 story with 500+ chapters. I can only shake my head in disappointment for those people.

"the show is hard carried by its production value." For people that get attracted to flashy lights? That may be the only thing they look forward to. Can't deny that animation helped with popularity. I am not the type myself to expect good animation to enjoy a good story or a fight. Just looking at story alone I am in awe. It has subtle emotions. Good comedy for the most part. Mysteries. Foreshadows. Unpredictable turns. Struggles in combat. Linear, but a really really well written story. I still don't get the "nothing new" part. It's a derogatory remark for no good reason. It's not the animation in these episodes that made me tear up. The beautiful emotions did that they conveyed with the visions and the ost/song. Even ep 1 and many more do that to me. Subtle emotions, like I said. These things don't require clean animation to convey. Animation of the fight is like least of my priorities here so I don't get people's remarks. It's like the show gets crucified for having a good animation cuz "it wouldn't have been good without it".

Thatโs the entire reason she uses poison, because she is too weak to physically decapitate them. She couldnโt even decapitate this member of Ruis family and theyโre not a Moon either.

2023-05-08 17:47:58 +0000 UTCit's not that the show has no plot, it's just nothing new. It has all the same tropes and formulas that battle shonen series have been using for decades. There's nothing wrong with that to be clear. Demon Slayer isn't trying to pretend to be anything else. The show knows its genre and is very good at what it does. What people have a problem with is when people pretend that Demon Slayer is like the second coming of christ when the show is hard carried by its production value. If ufotable weren't the ones animating it, I guarantee you that the story and charactes alone wouldn't have been enough for it to reach its current level of popularity.
