ATTACK ON TITAN EPISODE 22 REACTION! ( "The Defeated" )

Comments

You are being ridiculous. Its just that the anime cut the scenes where Eren and Annie interact. She literally teaches him how to fight. They've lived together for more than 3 year while being cadets. It's also a big part of his character that continues to show into season 2 where he absolutely refuses to believe a certain possibility of a betrayal. You call that character assassination?? So confusing dude. Also season 1 is by far the worst season of the show so it might just be that it's not your type of show.

Hey Luckysaur, I know I'm late! But I just watched this reaction and wanted to give my two cents about the point you made about not being able to cry during AoT. I also felt the same way when watching it, while I was moved by a lot of what was happening, it was hard for me to fully connect like you said. For me, I think a very important part of it is the context of AoT. And by that, I mean that it's a morbid and tragic universe. Death and despair at every turn. Because that ends up being the norm and what the characters are used to, it also becomes what we're used to. It means the leap from their sad everyday reality to the super sad moments...isn't that big of a leap. It kinda just happens and we go along with it. Naruto in comparison has a much lighter tone, more often, so that when the emotional parts play out, it really hits you in the feels. Another thing with AoT is that a lot of characters don't seem to get enough development before getting killed off. We're not as invested, and so their deaths don't weigh as hard on us. Again, thinking about Squad Levi and how much screen time they got before getting killed. Or even when Eren was eaten by a titan in the beginning. We hardly knew em. Compare that to Jiraiya's death. The build up. The emotional attachment. The symbolism. It's like night and day. And like I said, in a world like Aot where people keep dying it kinda just becomes expected and loses a bunch of shock value over time. Despite all that, I don't hate it, I think it was all intentional to paint a very vivid picture of the hopelessness of humanity. Anyway, hope you get to read this! Me love you long time. <3

This show does not want to communicate sadness it was to communicate horror.

Hi! I do not agree with this statement that only the first season is good. The second season serves to reveal the minor characters and the world with its mysteries more, the first part of the third focuses on the inner problems of the walls and reveals many secrets of the Titans, and the second part of the third season includes all the components of the previous seasons, and the drama is there at the highest level. As for season 4, it's a whole new world, if you can say so. In my opinion, Attack of the Titans is one of the best anime, and it only gets better with each season. As for the claims about closing the wall with a stone, then Levi and all the other scouts were outside the walls on a sortie, which is why Eren sent the best men from the garrison. But since they hadn't fought the Titans regularly before as scouts, they weren't as strong and the strongest among them was Mikasa. And Levi and the other scouts had just returned when the wall was closed. It was impossible to wait for the scouts to return, since the Titans were constantly penetrating through the hole in the wall, and at any moment an Armored titan could break through the second wall. You may have already forgotten some plot points like this, which is why you think everything is bad. I don't quite understand how the characters of Mikasa and Eren are destroyed at the end of the first season, can you explain? As for the future events of the next series, which you mentioned, or the development of the character Mikasa, then yes, there is not so clear. But you need to keep in mind that the time in the anime is not shown in the same way as in reality, so Eren was able to gather himself in a minute or so, but Eren's ability to transform is hindered by emotions, he tried to transform, but could not, this does not mean that he did not want to transform, then he would not try. As for Mikasa, at least I can say that even if you do not know the further plot, it is very wrong to equate her with Sakura. Mikasa has reason to consider Eren the closest person to her (he saved her life on the day when her entire family was killed in front of her), and her only family, after she lost her family twice. It's not Sakura who loves Sasuke for no reason. Mikasa's attitude towards Eren is completely justified. Well, as it is, she is just a closed person, a fighter, and not a strategist like Armin, but I do not see anything particularly bad in this. I answered all three of your comments here, since you were interested in my opinion.

I only cried for one person in AOT. No matter how many times I watched that scene, I still have tears in my eyes. Aside from that I felt bad for the others but I didn't cry.

Same lucky, I didn't cry much during AOT. I guess it's the overall atmosphere, you almost expect those horrific things to happen. Nonetheless, the story is still amazing as you said. :)

The manga has ended and let me just point it out. Mikasa is definitely not Sakura!

You need to watch Captain Levis OVA No Regrets to understand his dead personality. Also, Levi gave Petras badge and pretended it was the scouts friends badge so that scout would feel better. Levi wanted to keep Petras badge for memory for himself but sacrificed it, cant say hes a psycho hes just faced comrades dying too much and can handle it

u seem to be quite invested in the AOT universe. Could u reply to the comments i wrote below ? I'm curious what's ur point of view to see if I'm just hating for no reason or not

forgot about how they destroyed Mikasa's character: This hasn't really happened yet but you'll see in the upcoming seasons how she is slowly turned into a Sakura who barely fights for 10secs and then just yells Eren with tear in her eyes 50 times an episode

Voss

But the biggest fk up they did in the whole series, imo, was actually at the end of s1, how they destroyed Eren's and Mikasa's characters. a bit of a mini-SPOILER: I'm looking forward to the next episodes and your thoughts on the EXTREMLY UNBEARABLY HARD decision eren takes in like 50 hours while letting more ppl die. That just annoyed me like crazy because the Eren in the first half of s1 would've just went ahead to fight because he showed a lot of determination and it was clear where he's mindset was. And for some reason they just made him a broken in the head dude who saw his CLOSE comrades (from his squad, Levi's squad whatever) die in front of him just an episode ago and FOR SOME REASON he was not willing to fight cause of his good old friend annie who he barely ever talked to....................

Voss

honestly the only good season AOT had was s1 (didnt watch the last one tbh, and s2 and s3 had some good stories especially the one with Levi's old team but the rest really was a big dramatization) edit: actually the first season had some annoying parts too.. like the boulder plan where they sent the most useless people to assist Eren for some reason.. we didnt know at that time how OP Levi was, but honestly just Eren Mikasa and Levi were needed in that plan and Levi would've slaughtered 1v20 normal braindead titans like come on..

Voss

its good that they are showing the aftermath and the impact of everything that went down, it makes everything more impactful :) the Female Titan can just turn into a human and sneak in :) they should look at the positives though, they did learn quite a lot on this mission, plenty of stuff they could use for their future ventures :)

Kisame

Lucky, you still miss the details sometimes. It's better to stop the video when you say something)) You spoke during the moment when they showed how the body of Petra was thrown out of the cart (it was clear from Levi's reaction to the body and from the hair), and Levi looked at it, and you also missed the moment that Levi collected the emblems of fallen comrades after their death, but gave the emblem of Petra to that soldier, lying that it was the emblem of his friend. Naturally, Levi couldn't have the insignia from that soldier's body, because they had lost his body. Also, according to Petra's father, it can be assumed that she and Levi could have been dating, or at least that Petra had feelings for Levi, since her father talked about her wedding. And yet call Levi a psychopath... It's just inattentive to look at his character! All these small details both show the characters and increase the depth of the work, it is better not to miss them, because they are not always on the surface.

Levi hadn't attacked before, as he didn't know the exact strength of the female Titan. He could have been much stronger than he was, because he had never faced intelligent Titans in battle before. And he was also following Erwin's plan (which would have worked if the titan hadn't been able to summon others to eat him, which no one had previously known about), and before that, Levi had even suggested that Eren choose to follow the plan himself, or try to attack the Titan together. So he did not throw away the lives of his comrades, but acted most rationally, taking into account the information about the enemy that he knew, and their plan.

The look Levi had in his eyes when they dumped Petra's corpse was so hard to see. It portrays their hopelessness to the max. No matter how hard it is, they need to act like monsters too sometimes, no matter how immorale that is, they need to do it, in order to fight monsters. They have to become monsters at heart themselves to fight and kill the monsters that threaten humanity.

Kakashi Hatake

That badge Levi gave him was actually Petra's. You can see Levi looking at it when he unwrapped her before they all set off before the titans chased them. He just lied to make him feel better. And you said he's a psychopath. Also AOT (almost) never tries to make you feel sad. It portrays hopelessness more than anything.

Orochimaru has a giant snake 😳
