I don’t even want to get into what they did to Sharon Tate, but if you Wikipedia the Tate Lubianka murders, you’ll know all you need to know to understand where Tarantino was coming from and why he didn’t hold back with how badly Pitt and DiCaprio fucked the hippies up. In real life, there was no Rick Dalton. The Manson family killed Sharon Tate and her friends that night, hence the story book title, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

To me, it's just about drifting though the version of late 1960's Hollywood that Tarantino has dreamed up for a couple hours through the friendship of Rick and Cliff. The movie hits the same note for me as The Big Lebowski or Dazed and Confused. It feels like smoking weed before you had any real responsibilities, just the right kind of comfortable.
