This is my favorite episode.
I'll point out some dialog that you guys talked through: Carmela's conversation with Janice in the house, where Janice talks about how her and Tony's mother had loved her children until they developed personalities of their own and agency separate from hers. We see this play out when Domenica tells Janice "no" while playing in the water. And of course, Janice is right that Tony is more like his mother than his father - because this shapes how he views his own children (especially AJ) and subordinates.
The ending of the episode is one of the show's most tragic (and this show has a lot of tragic endings). It's not just making Bobby kill someone (take note: his victim is another father) - it's stripping from him the last of his remaining innocence. The world these guys live in provides riches and power but it costs them their humanity. Bobby has managed to hold onto a scrap of his because of his father and Junior's protection, but now it's gone.
A good line of dialog from this episode to remember: "You probably don't even hear it when it happens."

Chris actually calls a day late and has to wish Tony a belated birthday... I think they put this call in the episode as another example of Chris starting to slack again because of his drug use. And Tony hangs up immediately because he has essentially given up hope that Chris will ever truly get better, or be the protege Tony wished he would be.

Janice talks about Livia getting sour once her kids started talking for themselves and then later she flips out when Mergatroyd tells her no. The BS is always passed down. I also love how her story shows just how batshit insane the whole Soprano family always was, from shooting at a beehive hairdo to getting arrested in the morning and yelling at the family doctor to try to save grace.
Like I said earlier, still confused that AJ could land someone like Blanca, even with his daddy's name and his money. He has no charisma, he's kinda funny looking, and has shown no drive unless Tony smashes his car. I guess this should give the rest of us single dudes some hope lol
We're 1/1 on Season 6B episodes for FRR so far. Glad y'all loved the opener. My favorite part was Chrissy and the monopoly house stuck on Tony's head.

You guys were busy talking right before the shit went down with Tony and Bobby. Tony made a comment about Janice blowing guys under the boardwalk, and Bobby gave him one of those looks that kill. Then Tony started singing about Janice blowing guys. Tony is in Bobby's home, not to mention that he has been putting up with insults and disrespect towards himself and Janice for years. When Tony threw in her face that she used to blow roadies and then fucking with Janice about her son while they were having a nice family dinner. This blow up has been building for years. You want to talk about sucker punches, Bobby has been dealing with them constantly since he came into the picture. Mob guys generally drop their weapon after blowing someone away. That poor kid, he was such a young guy. Formal was too funny when he said Bobby should have been playing Clue.

It was nice to see Tony finally start shit with someone who could finish it, it's a damn shame he got his revenge by turning Bobby into a killer though. I remember watching this episode for the first time and feeling so uncomfortable because things were going "too well". You can never trust Tony to keep a good thing going lol. Also, I'm not ashamed to say it bu- jk

It’s really bittersweet being able to rewatch the series with you guys, and knowing it’s coming to an end very soon. I know it’s still early, but in your collective opinion, how does this show rank in terms of the greatest shows?

Chris was the only member of the family to bother to wish Tony happy birthday and he got shut down 😭

Definitely a sad ending. Bobby having to kill another father and then coming home to see his own daughter. Probably one of the best endings to any episode, and 6B has some terrific ones across the board. Seems like Tony is back to his old ways, and basically took Bobby's soul out of spite. He also appears to have a strained relationship with Christopher now, especially after the last episode, and was even complaining about him to Bobby on the boat without mentioning his name. Also hung up on him immediately 😂
