His comfort was grounded in his belief that the Greek was too cautious to let anyone new into his organization, which he was wrong because he didn't realize that The Greek began to think that it was time for a change due to the losses his organization took years ago (in Season 2) and the fact that Joe allowed Marlo to arrange a meeting with Vondas and then found his way to Sergei and then back to Vondas and now The Greek himself. This showed The Greek that Marlo not only was motivated but that he was also strategic, ambitious and cunning all the while knowing better than to outright throw Joe under the bus blatantly but rather subtly by pointing out that under Joe, the main shipment was stolen and therefore an insurance was necessary. The robbery of that shipment also resulted in one of their own men being threatened to be shot. I also think that via a process of elimination, The Greek COULD HAVE suspected that it was Joe who tipped off the stickup crew because only Joe and his number 2, Cheese knew about the meet and they know it wasn't their own people as Vondas told Marlo, "I looked into his soul". Which is a callback to Stringer telling D'Angelo that 1 of his guys might have tipped off the stickup crew in Season 1... Only this time it was indeed Joe who tipped off Omar for his "Big Score", as Slim a Charles mentioned when he thought Omar came to kill him. I believe that Cheese told Marlo that Joe sent Omar to the card game in order to manipulate Marlo into joining the Co-Op and told him that Joe agreed to tip-off Omar too when the next shipment came in so that Omar could take everything Marlo had BUT Joe didn't count on Omar flipping the script on him by following Cheese instead, which is why when Joe called Omar about the shipment coming in, Omar knew to follow Cheese leading him to the main shipment. Prop Joe's arrogance came into play thinking that he could civilize Marlo by treating him like a Son. Problem was that... 2023-06-15 14:03:52 +0000 UTCherc turned himself over to iid after he lost the camera, attributed the evidence to a fake ci, harassed and assaulted a minister, mishandled custody of the juvenile who was the only testifying witness to a murder, other brutality cases mentioned that predated the 1st season, and then he has to ask carver "So you think they had to do me?" rhetorically as if it wouldn't be 100% clear to himself already that he absolutely belonged off the street.

We know the story and writing are A+, but a lot of the credit has to go to Method Man there.

But talking to Rhonda, Bond reveals that he thinks the 4 counts of thefts will be enough. So what Lester and Sydnor have been working on might not be necessarily what Clay Davis will face in court.
