watchin sopranos and the wire at the same time. What you guys are doin is pretty epic

Edward

Best 3 minutes of tv to open one of the best seasons ever aired.

celilmandir

I don't know whether to credit Royce for trying to make legalisation work, but he was, until Burrel went behind his back to Carcetti. Like you said last episode, it's everyone looking out for themselves - but Royce seemed to seriously consider "could this work" once he saw that both the community and the crime stats were better off... And even though I love Marlo's character, it irks how *close* Avon was to annihilating Marlo and his crew. Avon was about to be vindicated in his warring, but Stringer reached out from the grave to fuck it all up. And of course, Avon didn't care anymore. It wasn't worth losing his brother. Him and Stringer came up from being kids into this empire together.

Tom

How did he betray his brother... "so many times"??? What happened to D'Angelo was justified. Not a betrayal. I've anyways found it funny how viewers of THE WIRE have always been more upset & unforgiving of what happened to D'Angelo than Avon was lol Avon knew that D'Angelo had to go & that he couldn't even begin to make a call like that which is why he understood & forgave Stringer for doing it for THEM. If you're referring to working with Prop Hoe, I mean Prop Joe as "betrayal" then you need to rewatch the series a couple more times because it is crystal clear that working with Prop was not only the smart move but it was the RIGHT move which is why Avon eventually came to his senses & signed off on it. Stringer was out there seeing what Avon couldn't see while he was locked up. As usual, Avon was LATE in understanding the Big Picture in THAT regard when it came to taking Stringer's advise. Also, Remember in Season 1 how Avon wanted to deal with the Omar problem vs how Stringer advised Avon to deal with it? Avon's approach almost got him killed outside of Orlando's & THEN the next day Avon is telling Wee Bey to do what Stringer advised him to do FROM THE BEGINNING & then even told Stringer, "Your Advise was good Advise". Which is the SAME thing that happened with the Prop situation, Avon FINALLY realized that he had NO MORE resources willing to supply him with Quality Product. Lastly, Stringer is subsequently killed by Avon (via Mouzone/Omar) & THEN Avon immediately not only regrets his decision but once again realizes that "Stringer was RIGHT about everything" All Along. People who watch the show Always disregard these Story Arcs when it comes to the B & B Organization & the dynamic between Avon & Stringer. In the end, THEY were STRONGER when they were on the same page trusting each other in their respective roles in the Organization.

I don't necessarily hate Season 5, but like you said, it's just a decline from the first four. I don't want to get into the "why" because spoilers. If it came out as a new show on right now, I'd go crazy over it, but this is The Wire we're talking about.🀣

mbds

Yeah S5 has certainly gotten better. As Luis pointed out it applies to a lot recent current events. Also… even a weaker season of The Wire is 5x better than most shows…

PIG

It may not be on par with the earlier seasons, but nothing was going to live up to the standard set by season 4. Let's not encourage the guys to skip season 5! Personally I think it's far from "bad" with its insane storyline and memorable new characters. Plus the loose ends it ties up.

Wes

Season 5 has definitely gotten better with time tho. Can’t say much without risking getting into spoilers but a lot of the more wild happenings seem a lot more believable now.

Luis

Season 3 may be my favorite season of all time in the wire. But season 4 really takes it to another level. Y'all are in for a treat

Vicpres

One thing about the Wire is that this show did not get high ratings when it was on. Growing up in Bmore, it was a big deal, but a complex slow burn show about Black drug dealers? Definitely before it's time, most of America wasn't checking for it. They really thought season 3 might be the end of the show, David Simon talked about how HBO said they possibly would be canceled, so they ended s3 in a way that they'd be fine if it was the end of the show. Same for s1 actually. They also wanted to do a spinoff about the politics that got denied by HBO since nobody watched the main show anyway, which is why that's pretty open-end. I love how they show the good and bad of Hamsterdam, even Bubbles is conflicted at the end. Season 3 is my personal favorite (last six episodes of the peak of the show to me and Stringer and Avon are the best characters imo), but 4 is also incredible. 5 is the only one most fans don't like as much.

mbds

It is the best season.

M Salam

I can't wait for them to start s4! I think it's one of the best seasons with such a hard hitting theme and amazing characters to explore it

Mike Jones

Another good pull! Gotta love the layers to the writing and how the show requires your attention to find all the details. It makes it a much more rewarding experience as a viewer imo, on top of delivering relevant messages about our country even today.

Mike Jones

I just can’t choose between that one and the Omar vs Brother Mouzone stand off.

Daniel Cotton

Same for me…”Man f*ck a charge, this hear the GunPowder Activated, .27 Caliber….β€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Daniel Cotton

This entire season has also been a metaphor for the Iraq War. It even starts with the towers going down!

Jori

ayo, don't put johnny dying on bubbles. 😭 he was chasing that needle more than anything, he ain't even want to learn how to hustle to even get the money for dope. mans never came up for air.

Kiana B.

i'm glad the premise for s4 hasn't been spoiled, all your theories at the end were entertaining lmao.

Kiana B.

One thing people forget after season one when Avon went to jail most of Avon people went in too the crew now is mostly stringer's people and he ran thing like a business so it makes sense his number 2 would snitch its the best business move Avon people would never dream of snitch because he ran things the street way

Kwame James

Stringer deserved worse. He betrayed his "brother" so many times and killed his family. Stringer's downfall was of his own making

Moisty Justice

You keep trying to defend stringer lol

Pacman24

i'm beyond gassed.

Kiana B.

100%! Good pull

Mike Jones

Shamrock was in there snitching with alacrity!

prolifik5

I feel like the title Mission Accomplished is a straight clown on the famous George Bush landing on the aircraft carrier moment with the banner, the fireworks, cake, party hats - when they really hadn't accomplished anything of note. I won't just list off every instance of this, but the biggest one is that Carcetti's political coach told him to make sure that Tony Gray got the rub outta that council meeting, but Carcetti just had to go off. So the mission was accomplished, but it wasn't what was supposed to go down.

ShaneSpear

"Get on with it motherfuc--" Stringer Bell & Bunny Colvin, firing squad last words Shamrock was probably the most goated snitch of all time "You won't believe this officer, I just so happen to have the minutes of all our drug meetings right here!"

ShaneSpear

Fun Fact... The "actor" who portrayed Colvin's 2nd in command, Lieutenant Dennis Mello & whom took over for Colvin as ACTING Major in REAL life is Sgt. Jay Landsman, the shift Sgt of the Baltimore Police Homicide Division. #TellemTANKseddit

Tank Obadiah

Bralik is right. Cedric Daniels was elevated to Major of the entire Western District.

Tank Obadiah

Rest In Power to Lt./Major Daniel.

Christopher Charles

We fight on that lie.... David Simon was criticizing the reasoning behind us invading Iraq with that convo as well, deep show

Mike Jones

Opening to 4.1 is probably my favorite of the entire series, cannot wait!

UNC

That got damn season 4 coming.

Pacman24

😁

Mindbomb

In the end... Avon choose his Reputation over his Brother & Stringer chose their Business over his Brother. They BOTH betrayed each other when they didn't have to do so. The only difference is that Stringer's betrayal would've costs Avon 5 years of his life while he sat in the pen (that he ran) for his parole violation & Avon's betrayal costs Stringer his life. With that being said... Stringer could've warned Avon that the police had been given an "anonymous" tip about the whereabouts of the "Wartime hangout" & kept Avon from going there & getting arrested with the soldiers which would've forced Avon to see how close him "playing soldier" almost costed him everything. Likewise... Avon could've warned Stringer that Mouzone was not only on to him but that he had to give up his whereabouts in order to placate him but then could've told Stringer to make sure that he keeps his gun on him & Avon could've also busted in the door next to Mouzone & killed Mouzone himself which would've elevated Avon's Reputation as being the man who killed Brother Mouzone and Stringer could've used his gun to finally kill Omar's punk arse. Avon & Stringer could've easily played that story into their favor by saying that they were at War with Marlo & assumed that Mouzone was apart of a contract to take out Stringer. The only living person that could counter the story would be Lamar but he was portrayed as being incompetent & would've been an easy loose end to tie up. Avon could've also simply told Mouzone that Omar is indeed a man who tells stories & that there's public proof of that because Omar took the witness stand and made up a story about him witnessing Bird kill Gant just to get back at B & B. So telling a story on Stringer so that Mouzone would kill Stringer would be right up Omar's lying alley. I'm just saying... In the end, there were several ways for Avon & Stringer to survive this season. #TellemTANKseddit

Perfect timing, just got home from work, ready to blaze up!
