Neptune's Darling

In a loving tribute to the classic films of Esther Williams, Lindsay is in a slightly historically inaccurate version of ancient Rome this week, pining for her statuesque loverboy Craig at the bottom of the royal pool. It truly was the golden age of cinema, when you could have a gratuitous seven-minute underwater scene in your movie and the studio would pay for it no questions asked.

Bare Creek

Even though she lives in the suburbs, Tina still has an appreciation for nature. Sometimes the only way to truly experience the great outdoors is to get a little all-natural yourself.

Bodies of Water

In the ancient days, sirens would lure men to the sea with their angelic voices. In the '90s, Amber, Lindsay, Cynthia, and Kristen didn't even need to put that much effort into it.

Minnesota Hsien and the Temple of Bloop

As a lot of readers can probably guess, Jenny's neurodivergent little hyperfixation on being underwater is very much autobiographical. I developed my passion for underwater scenes by watching all the same stuff she did - the music videos, the Starburst commercials, the Don Bluth movies. But it wasn't all just stuff I saw on TV. When I was seven years old, I remember I had a dream one night where I was exploring ancient ruins in a cave, and at one point I got so eager to find treasure that I jumped feetfirst into a huge pool of water. Sinking to the bottom and blowing bubbles felt so much fun, and even though it'd be a few more years before I was able to comfortably put my head underwater in real life, I never forgot that dream. So in canon, maybe Jenny had that dream too, and that's what jumpstarted her passion for the water. She's been chasing that high ever since.

We're Bath! A Breathholder's Story

When the rest of the family is out of the house and it's too cold for the pool, Jenny knows just what to do - fill up the tub and practice those breath-holding times at her leisure, with no one around to look at her weird. You gotta take these opportunities when they present themselves, y'know.
