I would disagree that the appendix at the end listing varieties of fantasy is useless. They may still remove it, but returning to D&D after 30yrs away, I found that section a ‘catch up’ and what did I miss as a kid. I am still encountering people returning to D&D or trying it out who are unaware of varieties of the genre. But WotC may find that only want to put page space for something they have a stakehold in
